The car is about to need the steering rack replaced for the 3rd time since August of 2021. The power steering fluid gets low and needs to be refilled every few months. Steering rack eventually springs leak every single time. Already had hose replaced from recall.

After getting off work my car sitting for about 8 hours, on my commute home which is approximately 6-8 minutes (city streets) my steering became very heavy and difficult. The car started to make funny sounds under the hood. Once I arrived home I notice a trail of fluid leakage so I checked the power steering reservoir and it was tapped dry, absolutely no fluid. I had to replace the entire rack and pinion because the passenger side boot had a leak due to the seal. This was not an inexpensive repair.
My power steering hoses have been leaking and now there's fluid down under the motor and under the car. . The car will not hold power steering fluid but for one day and my car is now become undrivable. I see there was a recall but I did not receive the recall notice and started looking online and saw that actually I have experienced the same problem but now it's gotten to the point where it's worse than just the hoses. I've tried to get it fixed and they say no you're not included in the recall I have all the problems that were stated and now it's become exacerbated. I need help immediately.
While driving I noticed my car completely lost all of its power steering in one shot without warning. This leads to very stiff driving experience and when I brought it too the mechanic he said it would be a substantial amount of money to fix, because of this I googled and noticed many other Acura Tsx's have this issue. I applied power steering fluid in hope of that helping out but it just leaked out.
Power steering pump failure approximately 2 years ago, replaced. Shortly after, alternator failed and I was told this was because of being saturated with the fluid from previous failure. Now this. . . Wife was driving car home with my 3 year old daughter. Suddenly the car became extremely difficult to turn and the steering wheel would wobble. this was a dangerous situation but my wife made it home slowly. I immediately checked power steering fluid and reservoir and it was low. Filled it up with leftover Honda fluid and leaked immediately from the driver rubber boot near rack and pinion. Rack and pinion now needs replacement from a massive leak. This is becoming a common occurrence and placing many in a dangerous situation while driving.
Car leaking power steering fluid and smoking underneath engine, keep having problems with the braking system and I saw recalls on 2004 -2008 models and air bag icon always on.

I recently experienced a complete failure of the power steering rack due to a major leak of fluid to the point I couldn't move the steering wheel. Thank god it happened right after I got home from driving on the highway. Just when I pulled to park in the driveway and found out the fluid in the reservoir was completely drained and empty. I added new power steering fluid and within an hour it leaked all out. Took it to an independent shop a few days later due to the holidays and found out the rack and pinion needed to be replaced due to the breakdown of the seal on both sides. A week before this happened, I took my car on a 1200 miles road trip. I consider myself lucky that it didn't break down while I'm driving on the freeway as the result could have been fatal. Contacted Acura client service manager and I was told there was a recall issued for the power steering but it was for a different part, a hose, and that my request for reimbursement for a different part would not be covered. Even though in my opinion this is the same safety issue from the same component, the power steering. I questioned the logic of the manager's reason for denial as the bottom line is the safety of the person driving the vehicle should the power steering fails, regardless of which part within that component was recalled. Unfortunately, she didn't seem to understand the seriousness and the gravity of this problem. Therefore, I am here writing this complaint so hopefully, someone can understand and relate to what has happened in my case.
I began hearing a noise when turning the steering wheel and the steering became "heavy". I checked the power steering fluid reservoir and it was low on fluid. I checked under the car and saw that there a leak from the driver's side boot on the steering rack. I took the car to a local shop and had the part replaced with an aftermarket rack for $1200. The rack failed within a week. I took it back to the local shop and they replaced it under warranty. This was June 2017. Today I took it to the shop again and now the right boot is leaking. I have not had to pay for the warranty replacements, but the fact the original part was defective is troubling. I have found that many people with Acura Tsxs have the same issue. I believe it should be a manufacturer replacement free of charge to the owner.
Had the power steering hose recall done in 2014 (recall number sb10-010). Now in 2017 came out to drive car and found all power steering fluid leaked and car had no power steering when trying to drive it. Car drove and power steering was perfectly fine the day before. Also just had a multi point inspection 4 months prior at Acura dealership which found no issues with power steering.
The car had not given me any warning or nothing. Driving fine down the highway one day going about 45 mph, I go to make a turn and its hard as hell. My car starts sounding all crazy and im struggling to turn the wheel. I pull over and all my power steering fluid is gone, leaked out! now I have read report after report of this happening. Over and over for this same year and type of car. Why is there no recall?????!!!!! the boot just busted. And its gonna cost me way more than I can afford to replace the rack and pinion!.
The contact owns a 2006 Acura Tsx. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering rack was leaking fluid from both sides and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Drove the car about 35 miles from home, as I was parking heard a noise while steering left and right. Within a few minutes, the steering was hard. Drove it home by the time I got home the steering was no longer working. Checked steering fluid. No more fluid. Totally dry. Brought it to the midas and and to dealer and was told the steering rack is leaking, $3000. 00 to repair. They said the rubbers on rack went bad. A few people ( mechanics) that said this is not normal for a 2006. I have found that this seems to be a major issue with Acura 2006 cars.
Was traveling on the highway at around 65 mph when the car steering felt a bit rough, upon arrival at my job's parking lot I lost complete power steering. Upon a quick inspection later that day I noticed the rack and pinion was leaking, I tried to add more fluid just to make it home but the leak was so quick that I lost complete power steering when trying to exit my parking space after just having top'd off the fluid. The safety concern is due to the loss of power steering aid when the car is in motion at low speeds as this will make turning difficult due to the low speed, this may be sudden as experienced from the quick ps fluid loss. Many other people have reported the same issue and Acura's service bulletin 10-025 addresses a power steering rack squeak due a deformed seal in the steering rack. However the bigger concern is due to the lost of vehicle control from loss of fluid. Furthermore, merely letting the car idle when there has suffered a noticeable power steering fluid loss may cause damage to the steering pump as the lack of such fluid starves the pump of lubing medium. The quote to repair such damage is estimated at around 2200+ 1000+ for steering rack and 1000+ for labor.
The power steering pump started making a faint whine while driving. Pulled off at an auto parts shop 1 mile down the road to refill the fluid. While sitting there idling the fluid leak all out the steering rack and required towed to have rack replaced. Acura knows this is an issue and only offered a discount on the part but $1000 labor was to come out of my pocket. I would have lost steering ability. This would not be the same as just losing the pump's help.
Driving around 30 mph, it became hard to turn the wheel unexpectedly. There were no hits/bumps/etc. So; it was power steering fluid leaking and I had to get power steering rack replaced. The car was always dealer maintained, there were no known reasons for the leak; no bump hits as mentioned. The power steering hose was replaced when it was recalled. One known issue was that I was also experiencing known squeaking steering noise issue and I was told by the dealer that it was known, but not risky. There should be full power steering rack recall on these models (to cover leak and noise issues). I can not think of how this could end on a highway.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Acura Tsx. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced power steering fluid leaking in the vehicle. In addition the vehicle overheated. The vehicle was previously taken in under a recall NHTSA campaign number: 10v174000 (steering) however the problem recurred. The vehicle was taken to three separate independent mechanics where it was diagnosed the steering hose, water pump hose, and serpentine bolt had all malfunctioned due to the heat and leaking of the steering hose repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 126,169. Kh.
I received a safety recall:power steering fluid leak for my 2007 Acura Tsx. Contacted Acura client services for nearest authorized mechanic. Was informed that I would need to take my Acura over 50 miles (one way) form ft. Collins where I work and live. Leave car half a day and return to ft. Collins. I have to believe that Acura and safety administration could see the hardship this creates. Why can't they authorize a dealership like markley motors here in ft. Collins to provide this service. Their way cost me time and resources and wastes energy!. Is this an effort to discourage people from addressing their problem? please let me know if you can assist. I know that markley motors works on Honda. Please help!.
Ongoing leak of power steering fuel which caused smoke and odor of burning. Power steering fluid would drain and had to be replaced frequently. Upon inspection by dealer, power steering hose was cracked and needed replacement, this was completed at dealership.
On November 28, 2009 I noticed there was a burning smell coming from the motor of my 2004 Acura Tsx. When I raised the hood, I found liquid leaking on the top left corner of my motor. I have a 4 cylinder Tsx. I immediately checked my oil and found I was low so I thought the hose was part of my oil delivery system (because I am not familiar with the motor area of my vehicle). I immediately made an appointment with my service garage (not an Acura dealer but worked for Acura for many years) and he told me my oil was not a problem, that it was the power steering hose that was leaking fluid on my motor. He also told me that there had been a recall on the tls for the same problem upon his recommendation, I called my local Acura dealer and talked to the service representative jimmy thomas on December 1 and he told me there was nothing he could do for me other than order the part and replace it charging full price of labor and parts. My Acura is one of higher mileage than usual (126,000) because it was used by a pharmaceutical representative before I owned it but anyhow I still believe my hose was probably made from the same defective material that the tls were. I called the customer service representative for Acura and talked with andrea (who also told me she was the manager on duty) and she kept repeating to me that since my model was not part of the recall, I was fully responsible for all costs related to this repair especially since my car was out of warranty and it was a "high mileage" car. I owned a 1997 Acura 2. 5tl before this one and traded it in on this one when it had 230,000 miles on it and I never had one day trouble out of it so I didn't not take that as a correct response. I asked her wouldn't it be better for Acura to pay a small fee now instead of larger fee if something should happen because of this defect and she kept repeating to me that my model had not been recalled and it would be my responsibility. So I am registering this complaint.
The power steering hose has a leak. The power steering fluid is dripping all over the place. I can smell burning oil everytime I stop. Last time I saw smoke. The smoke was from the power steering fluid dripping onto the exhaust manifold.
2005 Acura Tsx presented at dealer with prematurely-deteriorated power steering hose. Power steering fluid leaking on hot engine presents fire hazard, per dealer service manager. Hose was replaced under recall on tl and rl models, but not the Tsx.
