I was almost involved in a collision while trying to make a left turn because the power steering failed out of no where locks up to the point it's impossible to turn the wheel. I read up online that the Acura Tsx have rack and pinion issues. Acura should release a recall especially with the high volume this problem occurs and how dangerous it is. I'm terrified to even drive it. Because this isn't the first time this has happened. Somebody can get seriously hurt or killed if something isn't done about this issue poor quality from Acura.

I noticed that the vehicle began making a grinding noise, at approximately 120 000 miles as read by the odometer, when making turns and slips. The driver side pinion boot is leaking and a grinding noise can be heard from the the rack and pinion when turning the wheel with the car on jack stands.

Rack and pinion (steering rack) leaking. Multiple Acura Tsx from 2004-2008 will most likely run into this problem. Seen a few complaints on social media from various Acura Tsx owners from 2004-2008 models. Very high cost to replace and dangerous if steering rack fails. Bought from dealership a few months back at 111k miles, now at 115k only.

First the power steering pump leaked and was replaced. Now I'm told the rack and pinion is leaking and needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2007 Acura Tsx. While driving approximately 60 mph, the power steering seized without warning. The dealer diagnosed that the rack and pinion failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

First off I am unable to lock and unlock my passenger door using the switches or the remote key fob on my 2006 Acura Tsx. After researching on the nets I see that this doesn't just apply to me and that this is an issue others have had. The dealer stated it is the actuator. Secondly I am having an issue with what the dealer service stated is a rack in pinion issue. They say it needs to be replaced due to power steering seeping/leaking and that this would be the reason for steering problems. Again on NHTSA this seems to be an issue with this model year. I notice vibration and slight pulling to right when driving and drops of lubricant in my garage. When I reach excess speeds of 55 I have the pulling and vibration. I now mainly take side streets due to the hazard and no funds to fix this issue.
Power steering started to fail all of a sudden. Was not able to steer at all. The dealer told me it was caused by the rack and pinion going out which also affected the power steering pump to fail. This should not happen when the car itself was driven only 60k plus miles and the car was always well taken care of through the dealership. I paid 3,000 dollars to get this fixed! there are multiple cases regarding rack and pinion power steering issues from the Acura Tsx. There should be a recall from Acura a long time ago. This issue must be resolved ASAP.
My Tsx has 58,469 miles and has always been serviced at an Acura dealership. About 6 months ago during a routine service the service advisor pointed out that the rack and pinion was leaking. The advisor said that the leak came from the seals and that this was a common issue on the Tsx's. Given that the veh has such low mileage and having been serviced at the dealer this issue should not occur. Rack and pinions are designed to last much longer. Doing a quick research online I came across multiple stories from Tsx owners experiencing the same issue and some resulting in accidents occurring. I have all the service records and would be happy to share them or any additional details you may need.
While driving the car on the highway, it became increasingly hard to steer. By the time I got home the steering wheel couldn't be turned. Had it taken to the dealer where it was noted that the power steering was completely inoperable, the rack and pinion was leaking and the power steering pump was leaking. Dealer said that my VIN hadn't been affected by the previous power steering hose recall. It cost $1500 for the repair and it seems a little fishy to me that so many Tsx drivers are reporting the same issue.
The contact owns a 2007 Acura Tsx. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the steering wheel became hard to steer. The vehicle was merged to the right of the road side. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the rack and pinion was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Power steering failed. Very unsafe to drive without assisted steering for young driver to manage car. Acura Tsx 04-08 have known steering issues. There are many documented cases of failed rack and pinion but yet no recall to date.
Power steering has been affected due to defective rack and pinion. Car pulls to the right and poses a safety issue on highway. Steering has also locked up due to the power steering leak while driving. A very frightening situation when going faxt speeds. Also, the front passenger airbag started cracking a few years ago and am questioning weather it would deploy in a collision.
While driving home the power steering failed. After having the car towed to the only only Acura dealer in town, the trouble was diagnosed as a rack and pinion failure. When we suggested that was an atypical problem for a vehicle with only 87, 000 miles the dealer agreed it was not typical. Two days later we learned that the same dealer had just done the same repair on the same model with less than 50, 000 miles. After doing some searching online we discovered that the Acura Tsx rack and pinion system has failed in a number of the vehicles with at least one accident caused by it. Since steering loss can create a significant accident risk, I think these vehicles should be investigated.
My husband and I purchased a 2010 Acura Tsx with approximately 50 miles on the odometer. When the vehicle reached 350 miles the left front started knocking very badly we took it to Acura of columbus where we purchased the vehicle and made a service appt. We took the car in and they tightened things up they stated. A day and a half later the car started making the noise again we took it back in they kept it for a week and replaced the left front axle and greased the rack and pinion bolts. . We got the car back and it again started making the noise again just not as bad and they stated they replaced the left ball joint. I still do not have the car and haven't heard anything.
