The contact owns a 2007 Audi A4. While driving at 50 mph and pressing on the clutch, the vehicle would not shift gears. Vehicle was accelerating and attempting to get up to speed on a busy highway when the clutch suddenly and without any indication failed in-between gear shifts. The clutch pedal became lodged/stuck against the floorboard, causing the driver to panic in the belief that some foreign object was interfering with the natural return of the clutch pedal. The vehicle remained in gear, and was coasted to a shoulder with the clutch pedal still stuck against the floorboard. Once safely on the shoulder, the vehicle's engine was turned off and the driver investigated the cause of the clutch pedal sticking to the floorboard. Nothing was found to be blocking/interfering with the clutch. An attempt to restart the car and place the vehicle in first gear resulted in the car stalling out. The car was no longer operable. An Audi dealership assessed the clutch assembly and determined that the sudden clutch failure was due to the clutch disk being overheated, and the friction material being completely worn out despite only 29,000 miles being logged on the vehicle. The vehicle has not been repaired as the matter is being litigated.

At 54000 miles, 4,000 miles beyond the warranty, my 2003 Audi A4 1. 8t's clutch simply disintegrated. Audi declared it a wear and tear item and would not offer any assistance other than a "sympathetic ear". To have a car I purchased costing well over $30,000 have such a problem happen it unreasonable as far as I am concerned and the callousness of Audi has forever lost them a loyal customer. Every chance I get to let others know my experience with this brand I take. Do you think Audi even cares? repair was well over $1500 out of my pocket.
I have a 2002 A4 1. 8t. In January of 2004, I had the clutch replaced with 22678 miles on it. On Monday, October, 25th, I brought the car in for another problem and mentioned that the clutch was hesitating. After evaluation, I was told that the clutch was going again and that my warranty would not cover it. The car now olny has 32,317 miles on it. The mechanic said it was due to "wear" by driving. Since March of 2002, when I picked up my new car, I have had the car in the shop for various problems (most of which included electrical malfunctions, shorts, and other malfunctions).

I was wondering if you could offer any advice. I have a 1998 Audi A4 that was purchased in July, 1997 and has approximately 45,000 road miles. It has had a number of problems through the years, the most recent of which was a broken (not worn) clutch that was repaired last month. I contacted Audi USA and requested that they help pay for this very expensive repair. They refused, stating that the car is well outside their 3 year/36,000 mile waranty period. I grant them that, but a number of other manufacturers have 7 or even 10 year powertrain warranties. My overall satisfaction with this vehicle is at an all-time low. Additionally, I believe that a broken clutch could cause serious personal harm if it were to result in total clutch failure while on the road and subsequent loss of control (my clutch apparently failed "partially" allowing me to drive the vehicle to an Audi repair facility). Are there any options for further pursuit of this issue? thank you for your time. Robert a. Weatherly, MD.

Malfunctioning of housing for brakes and clutch caused brake failure which resulted in a vehicle crash. Driver received severe injuries.
By manually pulling up the clutch, it will engage. Since this is an intermittent problem (same problem occurred at 1500 miles, Audi is refusing to fix the problem, I refuse to drive an unsafe vehicle whose ability to shift can fail at any time.
