After purchasing the vehicle on 8/2/25, I discovered it had outstanding safety recalls that were neither addressed nor disclosed by the dealership at the time of sale. I have since taken steps to fix these safety issues, but the dealer’s failure to inform me or resolve the recalls before the sale put me at unnecessary risk. I urge the NHTSA to review the dealership’s records from 8/2/25 to hold them accountable for selling a vehicle with unresolved safety defects that compromised my safety. It is not allowing me to add case card with report, only case card available as of today.

The vehicle has 36000 miles on it and the oil cooler has failed. The car is meticulously maintained. This failure compromises the ability for the engine to cool properly. Because of the failure, coolant is then forced into the engine oil potentially destroying the engine. Engine replacements are 10,000 for these types of cars. Audi is aware of this issue and should repair all vehicles with this known issue.

My complaint is that Audi USA refuses to cover my damages and repair cost for the failed ac evaporator that is covered under their warranty extension # awa-21-01. Audi has a known issue for a/c evaporator. The vehicle ac issue was immediately diagnosed by an independent mechanic who only diagnosed the issue and recharged the system until the Audi dealership had availability to inspect and perform the repair. Jim ellis Audi was told of the issue and how using a sniffer tool the leak was found inside the cabin. Jim ellis Audi said they would have to run their own diagnostic and if they found the leak that Audi would cover it. They did not find the leak and did not use the sniffer tool and claimed they detected the wrong refrigerant and would recharge it with the correct refrigerant. I had no recourse at this point only knowing my issue was not fixed. I was told that if it happen again to bring it back and they will credit the repair and perform further diagnostics. I felt ignored and opted for a different Audi dealership (Audi marietta) almost 6 week later the refrigerant has leaked again and I took the car to Audi mariette with the same ac issue. The Audi mariette dealership confirmed the evaporator failure and performed the repair. I contacted Audi USA requesting a refund for the cost for eurofed chargers ($298. 26) and jim ellis Audi charges ($419. 84)and was denied claiming the the failure was a result of the wrong refrigerant. I challenge jim eillis Audi at the time for the failure to properly diagnose the issue and only performing a band-aid repair of recharging and allowing refrigerant gas to leak into he cabin for a second time. When I asked what was the wrong refrigerant they detected, they could not tell me. I think jim ellis dealership is trying to cover their mistake and poor workmanship. Audi USA refuses to escalate my complaint. The fact remains that the evaporator initially failed all cost should be cover by Audi.
After fueling, mpg was 370 and dropped to 325 within one minute. Same night, vehicle began to jerk back and forth and cluster stated "drive system: malfunction! please contact service. " took to dealership next morning and service stated fuel pump codes popped up. The vehicle is just leased and only has 1,000 miles.

Piston 3 imploded causing damage to the long block. Complete engine failure at 65k miles conformed by Audi dealership. You may view the car if you wish. The warning lights appeared the same day the car started malfunctioning. No advanced warning. There are several class action suits in the u. S. With the same issue of complete engine failure on low miles for several Audi models from 2012 - 2017. These cars are meant to run for 150k-200k miles, not completely fail at 65k miles. Cost to repair is $10k - $17k. I would like this to be reviewed for recall. My car is a 2014 Audi A5 2. 0 turbo VIN# waurfafr0ea054821.

Water pump leaking.
I have experienced several failures and 3 recalls with my vehicle since I purchased it brand new. I have paid out thousands of dollars over the years for repairs that I feel were faulty being that I am on the only owner of the vehicle. I have approximately a little under 75k miles on my vehicle although I purchased in 2012 (2013 vehicle) only to take it to dealerships and pay for this and that but most recently my major complaint is my car has stopped on me 4 times and I paid originally for what the dealership stated was the problem only to take it back 3 times and now they state the fuel pump is the problem and there is no recalls. Audi is known to have recalls on fuel pumps but at this time do not reflect on my vehicle. However, my car has not been in an accident, I am the only owner, the mileage is under 100k and there is no explanation as to why the fuel pump needs replacing. Please look into this. Thank you.
I am experiencing an oil leak, the car has 49000 miles and Audi has issued a TSB, yet upon my outreach to Audi north they are aware of the issue of leaks developing yet have not offered either warranty extensions or a recall yet.
Audi claims to have fixed their 2. 0t engine piston defect which can cause safety issues and accidents caused by the car seizing or loosing power at any time due to their faulty pistons which class action act filed on 2014 indicates that 2012-2017 2. 0t engine are susceptible to the same default. The company tried to hide this and failed to fix the issues on vehicles pass 2011. Please I have kids and this is our main vehicle I am being told by the dealer that I need a new piston rings based on the same issues they have encountered but is not eligible for that recall. There are law suit filed against this this a safety hazard for anyone in the road and Audi offers no assistance other than requiring more money for tests that ultimately will lead to what he say was needing a new piston.
2012 Audi A5 quattro burns oil every 100miles 5qt and does not allow a quick acceleration if trying to avoid an accident. The car misfires and shuts off while driving. No check engine light was on when it first did this. Mechanic was able to reproduce the same problem. Turbo is bad. O2 sensor is bad. Air intake leak. Running rich at bank 1. The oil meter on the display does not display actual amount of oil. It also has several electrical problems. Rear turning lights have an electrical problem. Great drive most of the time and check engine light goes off randomly then all of it starts again.

While I was driving, my car started to slow down and eventually stopped in the middle of the road. There were no warning sensors or indicators on the car. Ii then started to see smoke coming from my hood and decided to turn off the car and get out to inspect. On the right front side, I saw a fire under the car. The fire department was called and they put out the fire. They suspected an electrical issue, however it has yet to be confirmed. I contacted the dealership and they said they do not handle repairs of that sort. Insurance sent out an estimator for the damage. The car will be sent to a mechanic to diagnose the issue.
Large coolant leak due to faulty plastic thermostat and water pump which can cause overheating, catastrophic engine failure, and fire, putting consumers at risk. The thermostat housing has been replaced by the dealership, but not the water pump, just the water pump seal. There were no warnings prior to the failure, and was only diagnosed after a visual inspection under the vehicle.

The contact's cousin owns a 2013 Audi A5. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle began to overheat. The warning message "pull over and check coolant" was displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road and upon checking the coolant reservoir, the contact noticed that coolant was leaking. The contact added coolant and was able to continue driving. However, the failure reoccurred increasingly. The contact stated that the coolant would leak onto the ground while refilling the coolant reservoir. The contact stated that the vehicle was no longer drivable. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v229000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. However, as the contact's friend was picking up the vehicle on his behalf, he noticed that there was no coolant in the vehicle. The dealer then added coolant however, the failure recurred while driving. The dealer was notified and advised the contact that the failure was not associated with the recall. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the coolant pump sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred a month later. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the dealer had already marked the recall as completed. Additionally, the contact stated that the interior lights of the vehicle would fail to operate intermittently. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

2014 Audi A5. Consumer writes in regards to after run coolant pump safety recall. The consumer stated the recall repair exceeded a reasonable amount of time.
Safety recall 19n4 (NHTSA 18v229) was issued in June 2018. Attached notice indicates that vehicle should be parked outdoors as a precaution, to avoid a fire caused by a short circuit within the electric coolant pump. Recall repairs are not anticipated until late 2018. I do not want to wait 4 months to get a repair since this is an obvious safety issue. I talked to my local service person at Audi danvers, MA who confirmed the recall repair is not yet available. I also emailed Audi USA but have not received a response. What can I do to get this rectified?.

Audi safety recall 19n4 continues to not be available. Received first notice for recall in June 2018. States there is a safety issue with after run coolant pump. States that this defect may cause a fire even if car is not turned on and recommends to park the vehicle outside as a precaution. This sounds very dangerous. Today, September 4, 2018, the dealer informed me that the fix for the defect is still not available and there is no date. I am concerned about driving this car and parking it in or near the house.
Please see following documents regarding an issue with this car and its engine. I have also filled a complaint with the ftc #978949978.

I purchased this vechiled 10 months ago. At 800 miles, the engine light came on. The crankshaft, throttle body and cam adjuster were all reported to Audi USA and repaired or replaced. I was informed by the dealer they wanted to replace the engine. Audi USA is saying it was only a bracket. The car still pauses and jerks when accelerating, and has an annoyingly loud vibration. I am not confident in the Audi brand anymore, and after 10 previously owned Audi - I am moving on to their german competitor.
