While driving on an interstate highway, an electrical fault warning appeared. 5 minutes later, a series of warnings appeared pertaining to a whole host of Audi systems, and I suddenly lost power to the car. I coasted off the highway to the shoulder, where the car died. I was told by the dealership that the issue is a generator, and that it's a common issue affecting A6s. It was truly disconcerting to lose power, without much warning, when driving.

While out of town the car gave an electrical system fault with a yellow warning saying find a dealr soon. Then shortly after the warning went red and while driving all systems in the car started to shut down. Steering, transmission, throttle, dash, everything went crazy. Need to to cross 2 lanes of traffic to get off main road where there was no shoulder to pull onto a side road, very scary without power steering and the transmission putting itself into neutral. Easily could have caused an accident with my wife and 2 kids in yhe car. At that point the car was dead.

Vehicle reports electric malfunction and then suddenly start getting all warnings like all controls (like steering etc) disabled and vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. Had to get it towed and taken to dealership. They do not have a fix for this problem and no estimates on how long it will take to fix the issue and get the car back.

-total electrical system failure (dealer confirmed starter generator). -after a short time of cautions followed by warnings, engine and all electrical components quit working. (no hazard lights). No way to warn other drivers on the road or highway to a malfunctioning vehicle -dealer confirmed starter generator needs replacement. Waiting on part (60+ days and counting) -caution and warnings started appearing about 15 miles before the car became completely underivable. (every electrical system caution began appearing followed by warnings of impending engine shutdown).

Multiple warnings indicating to contact dealer (lane departure, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, etc) then 1 minute later transmission failure and engine failure imminent. . . . Pull over immediately and contact dealer. I turned into a road off main highway within a minute of the last two warnings and as I turned, my center mmi went blank then my electronic dash went blank, transmission went into neutral and the engine died all within a few seconds. Fortunately I was able to coast to a stop in the parking lot. Flatbed towed to dealer who stated most likely the generator between the lithium battery bank and gas engine failed. They have seen several in this year for A6 and a7's with mild hybrid engines. I'm lucky to be in low volume traffic as there was no power to indicate to drivers around me that my engine quit and not even turn signals worked.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was discovered that the fuel tank sensor needed to be moved to another location on the vehicle. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair; however, the contact declined to seek a second opinion. The contact was assured by the dealer that the vehicle was safe to be driven. A few days after leaving the dealer, the vehicle stalled while driving at a slow speed, with the check engine warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed back to the dealer who discovered that fuel had filled up in the evaporation canister sensor which caused the fuel tank and the fuel pump to become defective. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but informed him that his vehicle was not under recall or warranty. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

The electrical system failed while driving at highway speeds on the interstate. Car lost power, all safety systems shutdown and I had to navigate the car while coasting off the road. Car would no longer start and left me stranded on the side of the interstate for 2hrs. I have since learned from the Audi service department that the 48v generator had failed and caused this situation.

The defect of water pump used by this model causes coolant leakage and a serious overheating problem that triggers the temperature warning light. It is a safety risk without repairing this.

Car overheat. Engine light on. Pulled over and then drove directly to local dealer 10min away who noted engine temp control actuator faulty- stuck. Needed to replace thermostat. Dealer noted problem was noted in earlier year Audi A6 models as well but thought 2017 year did not have similar. Could not leave/drive away from dealership since they noted too dangerous with faulty thermostat/coolant/heating etc. Hoping others are not experiencing similar danger/risks….

Greeting, I drove my car for a minor body repair and paint job at midland park auto body located at 158 godwin Ave, midland park, NJ 07432 on March 22 2022. There were no signs on the dashboard for any services or repair when I dropped of the car. Warren the owner called me to let me know that the paint job was completed by had some bad news for me. The car would not start. He thought it was the starter that had malfunctioned. We decided to have the car inspected by jack daniels Audi of paramus service center located at 16-01 mcbride Ave, fair lawn, NJ 07410. I have had this car serviced there since I bought the car from them. James a senior technician called warren and told him that the engine was shot. He was surprised and shocked that the engine ceased working. The was enough oil in the engine, car had been serviced regularly with them. They told me it would cost about $25,000 to replace the engine. They also told me that they would ask Audi corporate to see if they can assist me with. It has been about 4 days , there has been no response from Audi. I started to search on the internet to see if other consumer had experienced this problem. I found several. Did Audi know if their engines were malfunctioning ? what would happen if this car stopped when I was driving on a highway? this is very serious . Hope to hear from your team soon.

I was at a stop light and automatic engine shut-off turned the vehicle off. However, when the light turned green car would not start. I had to put it in park and then turn the vehicle on/off to restart the vehicle.

The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

The engine caught fire without being used for 24 hours before.

When I first got the vehicle it would start with no issues and now it wont start an I cant figure out why and not sure if this is the reason I cant think of what else it could be it acts like its not getting any fuel or something to get started.

When making a u-turn after completing the turn portion the car fails to accelerate. It is as if the vehicle can't figure out what it is supposed to do. The failure is for a short time but absolutely nothing happens when the accelerator is pushed then suddenly the vehicle again accelerates. This has happened to me 4 times in the past year. Discussed with dealer and was told that is "the nature of the car" and the service tech said it usually happened to him when turning in an intersection and he would "floor it" and the car would jump.

This issue happens when the car is stopped and the auto stop/start feature has stopped the engine. Most commonly at a stop light at a major city intersection, where the lights are longer. When the system attempts to restart the engine, it rough idles and then the drive system shuts down the engine, causing you too lose all power. This leaves you stranded, and risks causing someone to rear-end your vehicle if the light changes. Putting the car in park, turning off the ignition, and then turning the ignition back on resumes engine function. This has happened multiple times. So far the service center has been unable to identify the root cause.

I purchased anew Audi A6 on Sep 11, 2019. In the first 2 weeks, five different times, the "start stop system" failed to work properly. I would be stopped and when I tried to start again the engine would die. In order to start the car back up, I had to put the car in park and restart using the start button. This resulted in an unsafe condition. The first time, I was on a steep incline and the car started to roll backwards. Another time a fire truck was trying to get through on a two lane road and I could not get the car started back up to pull further over on the road. The car has been to service twice. They could not find the problem. The service department kept and drove the car but this start stop issue did not occur again. I have been driving the car some for the last two weeks and have not had this problem occur again.

My 6 week old Audi A6 was totaled when I was driving 20 mph! I looked down to check my odometer, and within that time, no warning signals , brakes, etc. Alerted me! this car had all the bells and whistles! that morning I was on a tree lined drive to the tennis courts! no alerts! hit a tree and all air bags deployed! tremendous impact for 20 mph! I was all banged up, car totaled! I am still in disbelief. . . Thought I had the world's safest car. Has anyone else had a problem???.

This vehicle suffers from a sometimes dangerous acceleration lag. The time it take between pressing the gas pedal and the time the car starts to move is excessive and in certain situations, dangerous. It's especially evident in conditions where you're trying to accelerate from a low rpm speed (slow traffic, "California" stop, etc) to join faster traffic or merge in. A perfect example is trying to go from a slow moving highway lane to a faster one. You pick your spot, then go for it. The car sits for 1-2 seconds. . . Then it goes. The first few times it happened it was dangerous. I have had to adjust my driving to make sure I do not end up in a situation where a standard throttle response would be required. Additional examples of circumstances where the lag can cause the driver to inadvertently enter into an unsafe situation: -turning left across traffic - in-town merge or lane change - turning right to join faster traffic.

Owner was notified of safety recall 19n4 - disconnect electric coolant pump and had the recall service performed on 29 Dec 2018. Owner was informed that an additional safety recall (19o2) will replace the coolant pump with a new one. On 04 March 2019, we called Audi USA and were told that the replacement was not yet available. The coolant pump also aids in providing additional cabin heat which is important during the winter months for the comfort and safety of occupants in the vehicle. Due to the pump being disconnected, the cabin has been very slow to warn, including the window defrosters. This presents an extreme safety issue especially during the winter months. It also presents a possible damage issue since the after coolant pump is used to alleviate heat from the turbocharger. Audi USA stated on 04 March 2019 that the new coolant pumps will be available sometime in the future.

Stop engine oil pressure too high light comes on dealer does not have solution. Engine could blow during operation and cause accident. Vehicle recall needed.

In February 2019 I received a recall letter, NHTSA 19v035, from Audi telling me my car may have a defect in the fuel rails which could leak fuel causing a fire! I immediately contacted my dealer Audi of wallingford CT and put my name on a waiting list for repair. I have now been waiting seven months and despite several calls to the service dept, it has not been fixed. They tell me they are not getting the parts from Audi. Today they told me they have not received the needed parts in months! this is for a defect which could cause a fire. Is this permissible? what can be done?.

I�fm an active duty military service member stationed overseas in south korea. I currently own a 2015 Audi A6. I was recently notified that my vehicle had 2 recalls placed, specifically on the electric coolant pump and on the passenger occupant detection system (pods). I visited my local Audi dealership in korea and the Audi staff said that they cannot fix or repair the issue since it is a u. S. Specific recall. I called the u. S. Audi service desk and they also said that they cannot help with the issue and told me to check with NHTSA. I fully understand the limitations in this matter but I do want to appeal that there are several military members in the same situation. As a service member, husband, and a father, I am deeply concerned about the safety of my car. I sincerely wanted to reach out and see if there is any possible way to resolve this issue overseas. Your thoughts in this matter will be deeply appreciated, thank you very much for your time.

Upon starting my vehicle I noticed extended cranking. Upon driving the vehicle I noticed a fuel odor, initially I thought it was the older vehicle driving in front of me. After driving approximately 4 miles I realized it was my vehicle. I then drove my vehicle back to my house, and had it towed to Audi of albany due to recalls that were open. Upon inspection they performed recalls, but informed me the recall for the engine fuel rails was performed June 2015. They then told me they needed to charge labor to inspect the issue, to which point I told them I am an ase master mechanic, and I will figure the issue out myself. I then had the vehicle towed to my garage, where I took it apart following the recall provided on your website. Upon inspection I verified that the injector supports (p/n 06d133036k) listed in the recall (code 24ap) were never replaced. The injector supports I removed from my vehicle are (p/n 06d133036h). Audi has had my vehicle now from 21nov2018 until the present. They will not verify that those parts were supposed to be replaced during the recall, and also if any other parts were never replaced. They have contacted me and told me my fuel injector failed causing the fuel leak, and everything will be covered. I believe my injector failed (if that is the truth) due to the non replaced injector supports. The incorrect geometry over time would cause stress on the injector, and for it to crack. I also question if any seals were truthfully replaced, or if the recall was done at all. I also fear that this issue may have occurred to others who had the recall performed there (langan Audi), and are not mechanically inclined enough to disassemble there engine and fuel systems. This problem could have caused a fiery death for me and my family in the car if I wasn't inclined enough to realize the problem is my car and not others around me.

When operating at low speeds the vehicle will sometimes unexpected lurch forward or backwards depending on if the transmission is in forward or reverse. I have automatic transmission. This often happens in maneuvers such as parking or backing into or out of a garage parking place. It happens when the transmission is in forward or reverse and typically when the driver's foot is on the brake and you are slowly easing into or out of a place like a parking spot or garage. This concerns me from a safety perspective since a prime time when this happens might be when I am pulling into or out of my garage at the beginning or end of a travel. My concern is that a child or adult may be crossing in front of or behind the car before it starts moving and then the car unexpected lurches forward or back and hits the pedestrian. It is almost as if the engine misfires and the engine and car "jumps" after the misfire. I have reported this to the dealership service department multiple times and they can not "reproduce" the incident. However, one of the service department personnel has the same model vehicle as me and says he knows what I am talking about because he has experienced it as well. It has happened on multiple occasions though I can not tell you any exact dates.

For cuple days when ever I turn on the ac I can smell like somwthing is burning n took it dealer they coudnt find out what is going on n recent I found out its recall and I have 6 month baby I dont feel safe taking him in that car and I try taking back to Audi dealer in fremont to sell thy wont take it saying it has recal n all.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Audi A6. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number: 18v229000 (engine) and NHTSA campaign number: 18v370000 (air bags) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the recall notifications in June and July of 2018. The contact spoke with Audi clearwater (18940 us-19 clearwater, FL 33764, (888) 727-0742) several times and requested part information; however, the dealer stated that parts were not available for the repair. The dealer also stated that they did not have a time frame for when parts would be available. The manufacturer advised the contact to continue to check with the dealer regarding part availability. Parts distribution disconnect for NHTSA campaign number: 18v229000 and VIN tool confirms parts not available for NHTSA campaign number: 18v370000.

I think the Audi recall needs to include more years. It ends at 2015 A6. I have a 2016 A6 that needed towed in March. I was driving and the car started smoking, the engine coolant was gone, and the car had to be towed in. The problem seems the same as the recall for the coolant system that was just announced. They replaced the coolant system in March of this year. My vehicle only had about 26k miles.

No recall listed on safercar. Gov. Contact had advised that vehicle had shut off while driving on highway, VIN search was done, advised contact that she could file a complaint due to vehicle shutting off while driving. Contact also given number to Audi 800-822-2834. Mileage on vehicle is 149,000 miles. Cb.

Purchased a new 2017 Audi A6. Car only has 1,200 miles. Driving car on freeway with my son and engine completely stopped no power. Thank god we are ok. Had no warning at all. Car just lost power. I have read about other models recalled for Audi due to fuel pump. Dealer is stating the issue on our car is also fuel pump. Worried this will happen again and/or someone else could be seriously injured when you are driving and car stops running for no reason. Trying to work with Audi to allow us to give them vehicle back as we have only had car a couple month. I no longer feel safe in vehicle and now that I have read issues with other models and what owners have described our car had the same issue.
