2 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2001 Audi A6

Failure Date: 03/16/2013

Driving westbound on i20 from columbia, SC to st robert/fort leonard wood, mo when engine suddenly lost power. Limped about 3/4 mi to next exit and called for a tow truck. Transported vehicle back to nearest Audi dealer (45 mi east) in columbia, SC. Audi of columbia did diagnostic and after $2527. 00 determined that the exhaust camshaft on bank 1 broke in the center. The service department manager stated he has never seen or heard of that happening in all his years with Audi. I believe that this is a material defect and I should not be charged for the replacement of the engine (service managers recommendation).

3 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2001 Audi A6

Failure Date: 12/15/2010

Audi A6 quattp with twin turbo, oil pump failure due to "coking" from turbos. Exact same problem as the recall on the 1. 8 turbo engine. I feel that my engine should be included even though it is a 2. 7 litre engine.

4 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Audi A6

Failure Date: 09/18/2010

I am writing about my 2004 A6 avant, which has 78,000 miles. At a recent oil service at an independent garage, it was suggested that there was a problem with the catalytic converters. Exhaust was leaking from both sides, I was told. I took the car to my Audi dealer, where they checked the exhaust system. The mechanic who examined the car concurred that the catalytic converters needed to be replaced. Under a federally mandated warranty, the catalytic converters are covered for eight years or 80,000 miles. Yet the dealer has declined to cover replacement because the "check engine" light was not on. I was given a repair estimate of $2,400.

5 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2007 Audi A6

Failure Date: 07/04/2010

Audi 3. 2 engine on a 2007 Audi A6 (and same engine on a4 and other models) hesitates during acceleration, especially from a stand-still, such as a stop sign. Dealer states that the powertrain is designed this way, and that it is either the fsi engine which has a carbon buildup, or the cvt transmission. Either way, the hesitation and 2-3 second delay is problematic when at 4-way stops, or when making a left turn in front of oncoming traffic. The delay can lead to accidents. Also, there is a lot of info web about the fsi engines stalling from this issue (ie carbon buildup).

6 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2000 Audi A6

Failure Date: 05/20/2010

I have had a lot of problems with my Audi 2000 A6 2. 7 turbo emissions system. I was told I had a bad catalytic converter at 90,000 and they said it was not under warranty. I looked on the internet and found hundreds of complaints about the Audi's catalytic converters. Why do they only last 80,000 to 90,000 miles? then we have to pay $3,000. 00 to fix it to pass the California smog tests? that is not fair.

The contact owns a 2002 Audi A6 quattro. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs to the ignition coil under an unknown recall. The dealer performed a diagnostic and advised that the catalytic converter was failing. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that because of the mileage and age of the vehicle, they were unable to offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 103,000.

8 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2002 Audi A6

Failure Date: 09/05/2009

Driving on highway when engine started running very rough, engine light came on. Stopped and consulted manual regarding engine light, said to drive at reduced speed to Audi dealer. Engine ran rough, floor of car heated up, smoke and odor started coming from exhaust. Dealer had to replace ignition coils, catalytic converter and O2 sensor. Consequences: car became interoperable and extreme toxic air pollution.

9 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2008 Audi A6

Failure Date: 08/26/2009

I leased a 2008 Audi A6, less then a year ago. Audi has had my car now 3 times for a problem with the intake valves and carbon deposits. They have been unable to fix the problem and refuse to admit there is a problem with the car. It has been in the shop over the past 6 months for 15 days. I have had to continue paying for the car when it is un-drivable. I also paid for Audi care upfront when I leased the car, and the level of care is pathetic. On the Audi forums, there are many A6 and a4 owners having the same problem. This should be a federal recall. Audi of north America has been impossible to deal with. They do not stand behind their product. As a consumer, why do I have to pay for a product that is unusable?.

Failure Date: 02/21/2009

On 02/21/09 I purchase a 2002 Audi A6 3. 0 in frederick, maryland for the amount of 5,808. 00. I drove back the vehicle to selinsgrove, PA I almost did not make it. I noticed a lots of white smoke coming from the exhaust system and the car was shaken really hard. I pulled over cause the check engine light came on. Then I has to get out of the road 11/15 as soon as possible so I only could drive 40 miles per hour or the car will shake more. I purchased the vehicle with a personal check. I want this vehicle back to the dealer as soon as possible. I do not want it . Can I cancel the check? I have a senior bank account and I wrote the check for $5,808. 00 to south street auto sales in frederick, maryland. I will write a review online to consumers about the bad business of this dealership.

13 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2000 Audi A6

Consumer requesting assistance for a matter dealing with interamericana transport industries inc. 14 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2000 Audi A6

Failure Date: 01/06/2003

Cylinder heads (v-6, 2. 7 liter, 5-valve) are leaking oil from the ends in an area which is plugged with a "ball seal" pressed in place during mfg. Oil drips onto exhaust causing causing moderate to severe smell of burning oil inside and around vehicle. Dealer mechanics were able to locate problem by inserting special dye in the oil and checking with a blacklight, and state heads need to be replaced. Dealer denies defect and suggests this as a normal wear item, but there are no moving parts. I am worried about complete failure of the seals resulting in oil/oil pressure loss, extensive engine damage and/or fire.
