BMW 325 owners have reported 3 problems related to check engine light on (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My 2003 BMW 325it stalls unexpectantly while driving. The engine shuts down, I loose power steering, the check engine light goes on and have to pull off the road. I then put it in park and start the engine again. This started to happen in 2011 and now occurs with increasing frequency. It happened three times in 2014, including today October 11, 2014, while I was driviing on a two lane road at about 40 mph. I am very worried about my personal safety and hope to have an early response from you about this critical matter. I have also written to BMW corporation. I am the original owner of the car, bought on October 22, 2002 from vob auto sales 1396 rockville pike, rockville, MD 20852 USA.

On may 20, 2005 at about 5 pm eastern time the contact reported the following problem with 2001 BMW 325 , VIN wbabs33471jy54043. Vehicle had 25, 000 miles and was in excellent condition. While driving home vehicle stalled three times on a residential road in cambridge, MA. , after stalling the check engine light came on, and after waiting about 10 minutes the vehicle started. Consumer was able to make its way home. An independent BMW mechanic used computer analyzer to diagnose problem and found that it was defective cam shaft sensors. Mechanic replaced intake and exhaust sensors. The cost for repair was $300. Mechanic stated that these cables fail often. Since repair was done. There has been no other problem with stalling. Vehicle was regularly serviced. It seemed strange and dangerous that a simple cable would cause the vehicle to stall and not start up right away.

Periodically, my car will be running fine and then all of a sudden the check engine light comes on and it starts to shake and when you push the gas it feels like it is going to cut off. Usually it will "fix" itself by the time I get to the dealer. But even when it doesn't, they don't find anything wrong. It's been months since the BMW repair guys said nothing was wrong and "reset" the engine. However it's doing it again and I'm fearful that my car is going to shut down on me on a busy freeway and it's less than a year old and only has a little over 20,000 miles!.
