Recall for 2011 BMW 328i pcv heater valve was conducted on or around March 12, 2023 at my local BMW private shop bimmer engineering located in lancaster, CA. After service was performed was contacted by BMW representative that this service I paid out of pocket would be reimbursed, but would need to take to BMW dealership to be inspected to ensure BMW part had been replaced properly and with the authorized ome part manufactured by BMW. Vehicle was inspected at the valencia BMW dealership on or around March 15, 2023 and verified manufactured part was replaced properly. After submitting a claim, letters, and invoices to BMW north America which concluded roughly a year later. I was informed that the reimbursement would not be honored due to recall not affiliated and tread act does not apply. This information was provided on or around October 11, 2024 by executive customer care relations and services specialist kurt westrich.
I've had my car for less than a year, and started having issues with my engine around cold weather season. I would constantly get a light signal on the dashboard indicating that my engine needs coolant due to it overheating, although my car remained up-kept with coolant and fluids. There were times where I had to stop my car on the road due to an extensive amount of smoke and burning odor coming from the engine compartment, after being serviced a numerous amount of times, the only issue found was in regards to my engine overheating, and supposedly fixed by adding more and more coolant. Eventually my engine gave out after taking a short 30 minute trip to my parents home on thanksgiving day. Now that a recall has been placed on my vehicle, I have an understanding that a pcv valve heater malfunction can cause an engine to overheat, and when not repaired, it can cause unrepairable damage to an engine. I also have an understanding that a valve heater malfunction can cause coolant to leak out, resulting in the engine overheating regardless of how much coolant is put in it. I have an understanding that a bad pcv valve heater can result in a rough idle, engine stuttering, and a drop in fuel efficiency, all of which I've dealt with. I've reached out to my local BMW shop in regards to this recall, and they refuse to even take in my car to look at it being that my engine is already no good, although the reason for my engine going out is most likely due to this recall. My car is sitting with a faulty pcv valve heater and the damage that its done to my engine, and the BMW shop of macon is telling me that this recall has nothing to do with my car without even looking at it, when I know for a fact the issues I've had with my car relates to the recall.
This car has a heater problem with the pcv that causes the car to not run in cold weather. The pcv fails intermittently and the car will not idle or run in cold weather. BMW issued this recall in March but it is not November and they have offered no fix for this. It is a safety issue and it's also affecting how the car runs. How could we be 8 months into this without a fix?.
There is a safety recall on my car. This recall involves an engine component known as the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. The pcv valve heater may not have been produced to specifications which could lead to a short circuit. BMW does not have an available remedy for this recall and does not have any timeline for fixing it.

BMW has a recall on this vehicle 328xi about the pcv valve heater and had sent notice of the need to replace and it has been over 2 years and they have not found a remedy for the fix. The BMW warranty group confirmed a date on March 7, 2022 for the repair. Upon going to the herb cambers in brookline, MA. They told me they did not have a remedy to fix the issue and will contact when they have a fix. On April 2022 they sent a letter stating the pcv valve heater needs to be fixed under (17v-673 / 19v-273) and the remedy is unavailable and a new remedy needs to be performed. Issue is that if they do not fix the valve heater the engine could heat up and could cause a fire. They say a remedy is being worked on, but BMW should be responsible if a fire does occur.
BMW has recall: #22v-119:407 - positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater still open with no remedy in sight. It has been months if not a year already (or longer) and I am waiting, together with thousands of BMW owners to get this issue fixed. It is totally unacceptable that a company as BMW leaves their customers hanging and allowing them to drive unsafe cars due to their laziness to fix this. What is NHTSA going to do about this? thanks. Happy new year!.

Manufacturer has not followed up to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, and per the instructions in the letter, I am filing a complaint with NHTSA.

While driving my vehicle engine stalled and lost power. I tried to restart while in the middle of the city street with several cars behind and coming from oppisit direction. I placed the car in park and jumped out leaving the vehicle while watching and looking at other cars avoiding from hitting it. Two jentalman can to help me push it out of th the middle of the street. My sister was with me and was telling to to pull to the side but with no power the car was stiff/suff and brakes was also stiff. Very scrary!the vehicle was just released from the dealer 2/26/2019. On a recall blower moter wiring and recall pcv valve heater. /check engine light on,engine making knocking sound. According to documents.
My vehicle was making a squealing noise, was louder when running but sitting still. Took it to a garage and valve cover gasket was leaking apparently. I know this happens to cars but my BMW is a 2011 with only 65500 miles at the time. . Costed me 1000 dollars to fix and a month before this they did a recall on the pcv valve and had it tore apart. Maybe it was someone's mistake when reassembling the pcv valve heater during recall at BMW dealer at towne auto in williamsville near buffalo NY?? idk but that is low mileage for this to happen.
Blower motor recall and pcv valve recall. Hello, I got a recall notification in the e-mail for the pcv valve and the blower motor. I had already taken my car into BMW previously to have my vehicle worked on by BMW and carmax for problems on these parts and relating parts because they were not working properly. I was wondering if you could please take a deeper dive into my issue. BMW has said they will only reimburse about $250 when I paid much more than that before for the parts directly affected and indirectly affected by faulty parts. I look forward to hearing back from you and appreciate all the help.
Before any prompts on the navigation screen ever came up, I would often sometimes smell something burning or giving off a hot rubber smell which I addressed as soon I purchased the vehicle from queens auto mall auction, they said it was nothing to worry about if I did not see the check engine light on. While I was driving my BMW 328 xi 2011 the car suddenly lost power and a fuel pump malfunction display prompted on my navigation screen. The car stopped on a bridge in the left lane without me being able to pull over. The car would not start up again at all after several attempts. I waited about 30 minutes and the car started up again. I drove it back home 5 min away and got my vehicle towed to the BMW of manhattan where they say they took care of the problem. Once I picked up the vehicle, I drove for approximately 25-30 minutes before the same exact thing happened again and I was barely able to switch into the right lane so I can pull over and have another tow come and take my car to BMW of manhattan just an hour after I had it serviced. I had the recall for the pcv valve heater replaced at that service so I know the same fire/rubber burning smell can't possibly be from that valve recall. I have seen online many people have the same problem with their 3 series, and I am concerned this may be an underlying issue with all 3 series BMW 2006-2011. In both of these separate instances I was driving and was very scared that I could have gotten into a serious car accident in new york city.
It has been 10 months and remedies are still not available for the pcv valve heater recall (17v-683) nor blower motor wiring (17v-676).
Positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. I have had the car repaired out of my own pocket when this part failed because the remedy is still not available. BMW will not even look at my car in order to issue a reimbursement because they said the remedy must be available first. It has almost been a year since the recall was first recognized.

Pcv valve heater replacement. There is still no remedy for the recall, which was meant to start December 18th. As instructed, I have been parking my car outside (in case it catches fire) since November. I live in rochester, NY and the snowy weather is probably further damaging my vehicle. The timeline to fix the pcv valve heater is unacceptable.

On Nov. 3,2017, BMW announced fire danger due to blower motor wiring and a pcv heater. Neither of these repairs sounds complicated (replace wiring) but five months later, BMW on their website continues to say a "remedy not yet available". This delays suggests that BMW is not prioritizing or taking these dangers seriously. Nhtsa needs to encourage BMW to expedite this recall for the safety and peace of mind of BMW owners.
