Vehicle Overheat problems of the 2011 BMW 328

Four problems related to vehicle overheat have been reported for the 2011 BMW 328. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2011 BMW 328xi. While driving various speeds, the vehicle overheated, and the check engine and oil indicators illuminated. On August 26, 2019, the vehicle was towed to rick hendrick BMW (1518 savannah hwy, charleston, SC 29407, (843) 261-5760) to be repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling). On August 27, 2019, the contact's vehicle was involved in a crash while being test driven by a mechanic. There were no injuries. The contact was notified of the crash the following day. On August 29, 2019, the contact went to the dealer to speak with a manager and was informed that he would need a police report before they could make any decisions regarding his vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact had not spoken with his insurance company. On September 3, 2019, the contact was provided a repair estimate via email at the cost of $4,751. The contact was informed that the rec eccentric shaft sensor with the valve cover, oil filter solenoids, spark plugs, coils and other oil related failures in the engine needed to be replaced. On October 15, 2019, the contact was informed that his bumper had been replaced by the insurance company of the driver who crashed into his vehicle and that he was "all set to go". Upon his return home, the vehicle began smoking and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed back to the dealer. The contact was denied a loaner vehicle. The contact was unaware of the vehicle's whereabouts. The failure mileage was 56,000.

2 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

When I turn on my air conditioning my car overheats when I was driving home from work it started to overheat and I was stuck on the highway for about 2 hours I need this problem fixed as soon as possible I am in fear of this happening again.

3 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2011 BMW 328i. The contact stated that the vehicle overheated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v676000 (electrical system), 13v044000 (electrical system), 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling), and 14v176000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the contact felt that the failure may be related to the recall campaigns. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

4 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2018

Electrical system malfunction. BMW dealer ship not taking responsibility for these defects, the sparks plugs keep burning out due to the car overheating.
