BMW 328 owners have reported 7 problems related to power window (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328i. The contact stated that the rear windows would open independently while driving various speeds and would not respond to the contact’s attempts to close them. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was advised that the window regulator failed. The driver’s side rear window regulator was replaced, but not the passenger side. The failure mileage was unknown. Updated 02/15/lj
the consumer stated both rear regulators failed without warning during the past year. When the consumer's wife attempted to roll down the windows using the controls located on the panel, the windows did not move, they subsequently sagged in the window frames and created an opening. The windows could be pushed un in the frame by hand, but would then fall back down when driving. Updated 02/22/12.

Re. BMW 328i, year 2000. There have been three power window mechanism failures on this car. This is "more than it's fair share". These failures are very expensive to repair. Has there been a recall or TSB on this?
thank you, sam keller.

The driver side pair and the rear passenger side window do not move. The "regulator" has been replaced more than once, and they simply break again. It is frustrating and at this point I have no plans to pay to fix the rear ones. I tell everyone how great the car has been. . . But for the windows. . . And that seems to be an understandable deterrent a purchase by many of my friends.

1. The rear right window would make a click sound when trying to close/open. 2. The window stopped responding to the power button and would not go up/down. The window glass then slid down by itself. Since I was driving I could not do anything. My infant was in the back seat and the window glass came down and would not close. The wind was coming creating safety hazard. I stopped to bring the glass up by hand but it would not stay up and slid down all the time. 3. Ii had to get the window regulator changed which cost $260. This window was very rarely used for up/down through the power switch.
The window regulators on my car have been replaced a total of 9 times. Per my service advisors, the parts/design is defective. The first seven were replaced under warranty. The last two on Nov 14, 2003 were not. The cost to replace was $ 456. 38.
Consumer stated that the power front windows are hard to roll up and will sometimes not work at all. Dealer notified ts.
Window has an automatic upward toll feature which goes up with one touch on the power window button. But it did not stop when a finger got caught in the window and was cut off. This feature is on all 4 windows. Please provide further information.
