Windshield Problems of BMW 328

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328i. The contact stated that the moldings for the front and rear windshields were cracked and detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to beverly hills BMW (5070 wilshire blvd, los angeles, CA 90036) where it was diagnosed that the moldings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 45,261.

After only 16,000 miles of use, the windshield first appeared to be completely "sandblasted" with tiny indentations. When driving into the sun the glare becomes so intense that you can no longer see the road. You effectively become blinded and certainly would not be able to react to an emergency situation. The same situation occurs at night when driving towards oncoming headlights. This particular vehicle is rarely driven on highways and is always garaged. BMW does not consider this to be a safety issue, will not replace the windshield under warranty and cannot guarantee that a replacement windshield will not perform in the same manner.

I was driving on the highway and a rock flew up from the road and hit my windshield. When I got home, my dad noticed a chip in the corner of my windshield. The next day, the chip formed into a crack over a foot long. I had to get my windshield replaced. It has only been two weeks with my new windshield and the other day I was hit by a rock again, creating another chip. So far, there is no crack. And I found forums that people also had this same issue.
