Driver side occupant detection mat is not functioning according to the dealer. The passenger side mat has been previously recalled on this vehicle. The airbag light is continuously on and the I drive car data shows passenger mat is not working. But the dealer says the driver side is out somehow. From what I understand the mat disables the airbag when there is insufficient weight applied.

Just had to paid over $900 dollars to have my fronts passenger air bag seat occupancy sensor mat replaced. I see that there was a recalled issued for these item on November 2013 recall campaign number 13v-564. I was told by BMW of dallas that my VIN number was not part of the recall. I find it a an odd coincident that my vehicle air bag light was on and BMW technicians diagnose the problem as a faulty sensor mat but I'm told that my vehicle manufacture date does not fall within the dates the faulty mat was used. I think BMW should look into the possibility that more VIN numbers might have been affected by a faulty mat and more VIN numbers should be part of the recall.
I started my car in the morning and there was a yellow "air-bag" indicator on my dashboard with a message "driver restraint system fault". It wasn't there the night before. BMW had a recall on seat mat sensor on prior year models and now its occurring in other year models as well.
While driving with my wife, I received an on-board light and symbol indicator. Stating that the passenger side airbag and restraint system failure. This is the very same sensor the (oc3 pass side matt) that was recalled in 2006 and 2007 models that had the oc3 sensor.
