As I was arriving to park my BMW I applied the brakes to put it into park but the brakes failed, in result the car drove threw the building. When the rear wheels reached the curbside/sidewalk, it stopped the car, causing the building to get damage. And I got a ticket for malfunction of brake but it is not my fault for the malfunction of the brakes because I just bought the car 3 months ago from a carmax dealer. And at that time the mileage was 46185. When I was checking online, and there is a lot of complains about the brakes in BMW. In one article it stated quote:"a check valve of the brake vacuum pump may leak a small amount of lubricating oil. ” it continued, “over time this could result in the contamination of the brake booster. If this occurred, the power-assist braking could be affected. ” end quote.

After receiving a recall letter from BMW for the brake vacuum pump (recall campaign no. 10v-446), I took the car to crevier BMW but was told they didn't have the part. Never heard back from crevier BMW, forgot about it until the brakes completely failed without warning. Had the car towed to the nearest dealer in irvine. They replaced the vacuum supply line but not the vacuum pump. They recommended I replace the leaking vacumm pump at my cost of over $900. The description of the problem included in the recall letter from BMW specifically indicates that the leak from the vacuum pump into the vacumm hose, is the root of the problem. I spoke to j, mcclain at BMW and she said that the recall is a federal mandate and this mandate only requieres them to replace the line not the pump.
