The turbo in my vehicle has a check engine light come on and than the engine does no act right. The repair shop that looked at car stated that the manufacture knows this is a known issue and they have not made a recall as several cars my year range has this going on. If this is a known issue why is there no recall. I worked had for my car and I can not afford the repair of a know issues with the turbo as it cost a lot and I should not have to cover this as it is apparent this is a manufacture defect that is known. It puts me as risk as the car is not preforming properly and it jumps and does not go properly when it has the issue arise. I will get hit for not going after I come to a stop and will not accelerate properly. This issue appeared 2 months after I purchased the car and I took it to a shop who told me he has tried to contact Buick to cover the repairs for others and gets no where. I think that the manufacture knows and will not repair something that is not the owners fault but there shafty part and they know this as it was a recall in other years of my vehicle.

I am CO-owner of the vehicle. My daughter was driving the SUV when the check engine light came on. There was no warning whatsoever, and the turbocharger has gone bad . Prior to the light eliminating there was nothing wrong with the SUV. I was driving the SUV when the check engine light came on. I also own another 2020 Buick Encore where this also happened. I was driving the vehicle when the check engine light came on with no prior warning and it was a failed turbocharger. There is something wrong with these vehicles .

On 4/24/25 I noticed a pungent odor (like rotten eggs). The odor is worse today. I did research and it appears there may be a problem and or leak with the catalytic converter. The emissions are making me and my kids feel sick, nauseous, headache, irritated eyes, etc.
Add my car to your recall. Past recalls on these vehicles for oil leaking, which can cause a fire.

I have been calling autonations for months now since my car started driving funny. I was first told it was a head gasket that needed replacement however using my VIN number the engine that’s currently inside the vehicle is not the one that matches with what pulls up using the VIN number. Than the antifreeze leaks out, the oil leaks out and one day the car started smoking on the freeway with my children and I inside. It just stopped and haven’t been working ever since. I literally just got messed out of money because I purchased this vehicle a year ago not knowing it was a recall and this is one of the recalls now I am completely screwed over without a car and my money!! now I’m being told I have to pay because this car was sold to me already over the mileage limit to be fixed for free!!.
On March 18 , 2025 I purchased a 2014 Buick Encore with an implied warranty, the vehicle had 128,644 miles on the odometer. At the time of purchase the check light was not on and the vehicle had no visible or audible mechanical issues. Not 14 days after purchase there was a strong odor of burning oil due to an oil leak dripping into the splash shield. A certified mechanic advised me that the problem was a very common issue with the 2014 Buick Encore and the oil cooler associated with the turbo charger needed to be replaced. This issue is so common that the NHTSA issued a gm part failure warning for the 2017 model and instructed gm to reimburse all vehicle owners to replace the part (n232395330). This issue clearly a problem that needs to be addressed with the 2014 model as well. My mechanic said that auto dealers are cleaning the splash pad prior to selling the vehicle so that the burning oil smell is not noticeable until 14 days or so after purchase. The repairs cost me $1148. 00 just weeks after purchasing the vehicle. This problem of dealers covering up the problem and faulty gm parts needs to be addressed. I believe my vehicle falls under the previous gm parts needs failure warning and I should be reimbursed the cost of the repairs in the amount of $1148. 00.

The turbo charge is not providing adequate power. I was on the highway and the car began to chugging then accelerated on its own and all the lights on the dash came on then all went off like it was going to shut down. I put my hazards on and started to pull to the side of the highway. I gave it a moment for the car and for me because I was terrified, my kids were in the car and traffic was going steady around 70-75 miles per hour and I was scared as it began to shut down that I would be hit by traffic behind me before I could get over. It started driving again. It still drives but is hard to accelerate and even when stopped you can see the rpm rising. It’s as if the car never idles, it feels as though is constantly under load. I have had it looked at professionally at midas but they will only say they think it is the turbo as there are no codes coming up. I have had it looked at by mechanics I know who have fixed other things that may cause similar issues and nothing has worked and they also believe it is the turbo. I’ve know other people with Buicks and they have had similar problems I’m confused as to why this 1. 4 liter turbo has not been recalled.
The turbo has gone out on this and its not even 10 years old. I saw on other VIN's it got recalled and I believe all VIN's should be included.
During normal driving the car would lose power. Rpm's would drop and with engine sputtering. No trouble codes show up.

My wife is [xxx] and I am [xxx] old. We purchased the 2016 Buick Encore with 29,000 miles from Buick GMC of beaverton, oregon on [xxx], expecting that it would out last both of us, since we are retired and only drive to the store and doctor's appointments; my wife has miraculously survived stage iv cancer since February 1, 2019. The Encore is our only car and we depend on it for all transportation. We love the vehicle, changed the oil about every 3,000 miles, and have had no complaints for almost six years. On [xxx], my wife and I were driving home from shopping, in rain at night on [xxx] north bound, left lane, uphill at 55mph in moderate traffic on a six-lane divided freeway. Suddenly the car lost half power, began missing and shaking badly, speed dropped to about 30 mph with cars serving behind us, flying past us honking. We were panicked, not knowing if the car would seize up completely or the engine would explode. Fortunately, we limped off the highway without having to stop. We took the car back to the dealership where we bought it, for service. The next day they emailed a video of their inspection of the vehicle showing cylinder 1 has very low compression of about 60 when normal should be 180 to 210 psi, which indicates a likely blown piston. April 30, 2019, NHTSA service bulletin 19-na-090 describes the identical symptoms the Encore is experiencing: misfire and low compression in one or more cylinders. Both the Buick GMC of beaverton dealership and general motors, 800-521-7300 are refusing to honor the original 70k mile warranty since they're indicating the warranty expired on 01/21/2023. We are devastated that because we pampered the vehicle and only drove it 17,000 miles in nearly 6 years, we are being unfairly penalized. Gm admits that if we had driven the vehicle more and this same engine failure occurred at just 49k miles prior to January 20, 2023, they would immediately replace the engine. Help! we are requesting that NHTSA information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act.
This is an addendum to complaint # 11644925 before taking the car back to the dealership, Buick GMC of beaverton, for repairs, I called the owner of bassitt auto repair in beaverton oregon, 503-616-2007. He told me that they've had 3 other Buick Encores come to his repair shop in just the last 6 months, all with the identical problem. He said, without seeing our vehicle, that it is low compression due to a blown piston. He said to take the car to a Buick dealership, that this repair should be a recall, that the engine is most likely blown, and that no one with rebuild that engine.
My engine light came on. The repair shop said I have to replace the fuel pump control module and that it is a known issue with Buick. I was advised not to drive the car. I am concerned that I could have been out and the car could have broken down. The car doesn’t even have 50,000 miles on it. This should not happen.
The turbo charger seems to work at times and not consistent performance when the vehicle experiences this turbo loss of power the vehicle speed is negatively impacted and causes issues on the road while driving we did have an automotive company put on diagnostics and they confirmed the turbo charger; the 2019 vehicles have recalls for the turbo charger but my VIN for some reason isn't included we are bringing the vehicle into a Buick dealer to assess this issue. I called Buick to open a case #9-14665926871 related to the issue a warning lamp shows, but it comes on and turns off with no consistency; vehicle has issue when going over 50mph or going up a steep hill.
Leaking oil from oil coolant pipe under car and timing chain or belt gasket blowing oil. I have seen on google in 2016 a stop update on 2015 had issue with the s02ame problem.
Dealership has been notified multiple times with no results or repairs given to customer.
The contact owns a 2017 Buick Encore. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. In addition, the contact stated while the vehicle was at a stop light, the vehicle was idling roughly. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed turbo charger. The contact was informed that the turbo charger needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised that the repair was not covered under any special coverage or recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Unknown issues w/ sensors and wiring lead to turbocharger failure. This led to spontaneous acceleration issues on the highway. Less than a year after the warranty covered the replacement of the turbocharger (less than 60k miles on the car) the turbocharger again failed (64k miles on car).
I have been alerted by general motors, via a letter that I received in March, 2024, that, due to a defect, my car's (a 2018 model year Buick Encore) engine may have a "condition where the turbocharger could fail" and that "the engine may run rough or have reduced power. " in the letter, they have offered "additional protection for the condition" if the "condition occurs. . . Within 10 years of the date your car was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles. . . Whichever occurs first. " on [xxx], my car was at 126,819 miles, and had all of the symptoms of the issue that were described in the March 2024 letter ("the malfunction indicator light (check engine light) will illuminate and a diagnostic trouble code will set. Additionally, the engine may run rough or have reduced power. ") on may 3, 2024, I contacted gm at the phone number provided in the March 2024 letter ((800) 521-7300. ) I was told by the gm representative that, because I was "over the mileage", that any gm dealer would have to charge me a $130. 00 diagnostic fee to diagnose the issue, and, that even after diagnosing, there was no guarantee that gm would fix the issue, because I was "over the mileage". The gm representative also said I could ask the dealer to waive the diagnostic fee, at the dealer's discretion. If, after paying the diagnostic fee, and if the diagnostic fee revealed that my car did have the "turbocharger fail condition", that I could then contact gm to see if they would cover the repair cost. In may, 2024, my car was at about 128,000 miles. I contacted two gm dealers: les stanford Buick in ferndale, mi, and james martin chevy in detroit, mi. Both refused to waive the diagnostic fee. So, in other words: - gm has created a defective, potentially dangerous product, that gm acknowledges is defective. - gm created a warranty extension in which gm arbitrarily extended the warranty mileage and time. Power steering failure while driving at highway speeds. In traffic had a warning come on power steering fault. Then wheel was hard to turn. Had to use strength to steer car home approx. 25 miles. Took to dealer they had car for 3 days before repair done. For $1800 repair bill. Said it was a circuit card in the steering system that was the problem. 2015 years had a recall but not 2016 . But the failure from the 2015 is the same with the 2016 year. Gm contacted and they deny claim to get repair cost refunded.
Please help me. Please add my VIN# [xxx] for repair on a past recall 2016 Buick. Dealer will not fix my car, I need VIN number added to recall. I have attached a copy of the recall. 43210 engine oil leakage at oil cooler pipe reference number: a162043210 gwm number: 2043210 condition engine oil leakage at the oil cooler pipe caused by damaged o-ring. The contact owns a 2015 Buick Encore. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle, before the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the catalytic converter. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Acceleration was reduced immediately on the freeway after the check engine light came on the day before with a p0299 code for turbocharger repair. Now the vehicle will not start and the dealership service said an additional code of po366 is now showing. Are these related? the turbocharger has an extended special coverage, but not engine repair that is likely the result of the turbocharger failure.
The contact owns a 2015 Buick Encore. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. The contact became aware of oil underneath the vehicle on the driveway, resulting in a complete loss of power. The vehicle leaked oil and lost the vehicle lost power twice. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact inspected the vehicle and determined that the mass air flow sensor had failed. The maf sensor was replaced twice, the oxygen sensors were replaced three times, and the turbocharger was replaced once. The failures persisted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Stalling and shuts off. Low power when accelerating. Car has been so slow to take off that when merging into on coming traffic I have to move to shoulder & then try again to prevent an accident. Coughs, putt & squeaking sounds. Car shakes while in park or not in motion. Check engine light on.

The manufacturer was made not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
My vehicle just got diagnosed with a turbocharger issue, check engine light is on and cannot get inspected due to this fact. Due to repair costs, I will now be living with no vehicle for the foreseeable future. I understand this is a known issue for this type of vehicle and wanted to report it attached to my VIN.

There are many Buick Encores, including 2018 that have a problem with acceleator position sensors. My car’s VIN # shows that it does not have this notice, and thus no problem. However, in July this 2018 Buick Encore went into ‘limp mode, check engine light came on. Code for problem was 2138 (accelerator pedal position sensor) the initial dealer solution was to apply dielectric grease. However, this ‘cure’ lasted . 15 miles, when it went into limp mode,,, again check engine icon came on this is very dangerous, as it cannot accelerate and from a stop, it does not move until a minute later… that is so frightening, I again took it to the deaer, same code of p2138, and now they recommend the accelerator pedal positon sensor replacement…. This is identical to the problems with the other Encores, this is a severe safety issue, and the rest of the 2018 Buick Encores should be included for notification and repair .
