1 Starter problem of the 2010 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 08/27/2017

As im traveling to my mothers house on August 27 2017 my engine just completely shuts down and wouldn't start back up. The same week it was having problems starting or wouldn't turn over to start. My daughter drove my car to o'realiys auto part store to get something for her car, get in to leave and it wouldn't start. A mechanic from the store hooked it to the diagnostic machine and it read a delay in the start up. He start moving a couple of wires on the starter to see if that would help and it did. He told my daughter don't cut it off until you get home because he may do it again and suggested I put a new starter on it. I took his advice and bought one and had it installed the same day. When done it started with no problems and the next day while driving is when the engine shuts down while driving. I looked on the internet for problems with a 2010 Buick lacross and I was shocked that people were having the same issues with their Buicks. This is very dangerous and is a serous matter. Someone or a whole family could be killed because their Buick has an manufacturing problem and Buick is doing nothing about it. I am aboustley scared to drive this car with my family after reading many people problems like mine. Please help!.

2 Starter problem of the 2012 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

While driving on a city street at 20 mph the engine started knocking and the service charging system light came on. A few minutes later as I was backing into a parking spot in a parking lot at work the car shut off and would not restart. I had the car towed home and a mechanic looked at it and seen that the engine was hydro-locked which he was able to unlock. After checking the spark plugs, coils, valve cover, timing, oil, coolant, alternator, starter, battery, fuse block and wiring harness, the plugs needed replaced, there was metal shavings in the oil and some type of fluid in some of the sensor plugs on the motor. After replacing the plugs and oil and oil filter and cleaning other components I was driving the car to the store and the malfunction light came on along with service charging system and service stability trak I stopped at autozone to have them scan the engine and the code came back with malfunction with spark plug #3 so I bought a new plug and on the way home about 10 mins after leaving autozone the car completely shut down in the middle of the road. My mechanic came and we were able to get it to restart and get it back home which was only a few blocks. After doing another tuneup and getting it to drive again 2 blocks from my place a rod went right through the front bottom of the engine block which then required for a new engine. I called gm, Buick, the car lot I got the car from and everyone said there was no longer a warranty on the vehicle so the only choice I would have was to pay $10,000 for a new engine not including labor price. My car insurance didn't cover mechanical failures either so I was stuck with a $30,000 car that wasn't drivable. Cause is unknown. I bought this car in Jan. 2015 with 31,000 miles on it and this happened in Nov 2015 with 40 some thousand miles on it. Routine maintenance was kept up to date also.

5 Starter problem of the 2007 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 12/12/2010

Driving a distance of three miles car stalled five times. Started again each time dealership sold me a new battery three days later--acceleration quit, going down the road in heavy traffic. I engaged the accelerator with no response. Able to pull over and turn off key and then start again and proceed. Dealership told me that the computer showed no problem with the car. Two days later the car stalled in my mobile home park, started then stalled and wouldn't start. When I tried to start the car it wouldn't. Then when I tried to start again and released the key, the starter grabbed the key and kept grinding momentarily. Then when I tried to start it the starter clicked as if it were gone. I parked it for the night and called aaa in the morning. The car started right up and was driven on to the truck. . I was told I needed two parts a starter and something else. That was on Monday. Iit's Thursday now and I'm waiting for another part. I was told the dimmer switch had shorted out and had been affecting the whole system. It is now Thursday afternoon and my part has been snowed in . There is none to ber had in the whole city of tampa florida! I am a snow bird and am thankful I wasn't on the road to michigan when this happened. Loseiing acceleration and/or stalling in heavy traffic is a very dangerous situation. By the way I didn't trust the century Buick dealership I had the aaagarage work on it this time. It cost me $300. The first time ) the second $0. But with no results. Now I'm in it for more that $400. 00. Merry christmas.

6 Starter problem of the 2006 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

For years, going back to when it had a warranty and the dealership even worked on it for this problem and has had one or two calls in the years since for same problem, ses light comes on, it used to go off and on occassionally, but now has been on for a year or so constantly. It is for diagnostic code p2440 (secondary air injection valve stuck open). Dealership replaced valve and/or air pump years ago and said it would fix it, but it didn't. Within a few weeks, ses light came on again for same thing. I called them and they said I could bring it back, but it would be on my dime because they barely got it covered the first time under warranty. We put up with it for a bit, then I purchased a new valve and installed it myself, light did not go out and it still to this day says the valve (new one even) is stuck open. Problem is, when the ses light is on, the remote starter won't work, which is very upsetting for me and my wife. For years, just like the first problem listed, it was initially “fixed” while under warranty, which only worked for a short time. The passenger front seat air bag sensor has a mind of it's own! sometimes it registers a person, sometimes not. It doesn't even matter what time of year it is, or the temperature in the car. Sometimes it thinks that my wife (160 lbs) is a child and doesn't turn the air bag on and then if we hit a bump (sometimes works) then it might turn it on. It also has times that it also turns on the red air bag light on the dash while it says off for the passenger seat air bag. Years ago when we took it to the dealership for this problem, they said they “fixed it” initially, but it was just a short time later it did it again. When I called the dealership to let them know, they said just like the problem listed above, that it was out of warranty now and that I'd have to pay out of pocket, so I didn't take it in.

7 Starter problem of the 2008 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 08/25/2008

Remote, remote starter (rke) fob for car stopped working properly. Replaced batteries even though dic did not show batteries needed changing. This maybe a problem also. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Worked perfectly fine, then problems started. 99% of the time it will not start the car. 50% of the time it will or will not, lock or unlock car. I have tried resetting and/or personalizing keys & fob through dic center. Car will sound horn to show it has been reset properly, but isn't. Still does not work properly also when using rke, the door lock knob will not come up all the way and the door is not unlocked. Also, the door lick know will not go down all the way if I use the rke fob. If I use the key to unlock the door, the door knob will come up all the way and the door will unlock. If I use the rke fob to lock the door, the door knob will not go down all the way and the door will not be locked. I have tried using the fob away from all possible interference which I do not think is the problems, it still only works sometimes.

8 Starter problem of the 2005 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 03/05/2007

The contact owns a 2005 Buick Lacrosse. The instrument panel and the driver information center are difficult to read during the day or early mornings because the sensors are dim. The dealer replaced the light cluster switches and stated that the instrument panel and information center were designed with dim lighting; therefore, replacements would not correct the failure. The current mileage was 15,500 and failure mileage was 14,000. Updated 02-25-08 the intermediate shaft was replaced due to a noise being heard in the steering while driving. The starter motor was replaced. Updated.
