Accident may, 27, 2014, ncic 9245, officer id 17604 the above accident was caused by a mechanical failure of the Buick le sabre, 1999, license # 4efd440. Not driver error. Leaving highway 193 turning onto hwy 49, (going toward auburn) being a 2 lane narrow winding road, the engine of the above vehicle died, locked up the steering, and had no brakes. I was unable to stop or control the car. This was the first time there was a loss of brakes. In trying to control the car it caused me to veer off the road to the right hand side. Upon leaving the road and crashing the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle has had this problem before verified by witnesses with the exception of the loss of brakes. Passenger in car on trip from fresno to auburn, in March of 2013, (mechanical failure of car engine, died, no steering), this happened twice, on same day. Csaa was called to tow car. The dash pad under the windshield is starting to buckle and separate from the metal clamps. This separation is continually growing and moving from the drivers side of the dash panel to the passenger side where the front passenger air bag is located. With this movement and change I am concerned that the passenger air bag will not deploy in an accident or the air bag may inadvertently deploy causing injury to the passenger, not to mention how the driver may react should the airbag deploy unexpectedly. General motors needs to fix this to insure nobody is injured if that hasn't already happened.

The vehicle was involved in a frontal collision while driving at 25 mph. Upon impact, neither the driver side or the passenger side air bags deployed. The manufacturer and dealership were unable to indicate why the air bags failed to deploy.
Malfunctioning air bag. We hit a deer and the impact deployed both front air bags. The passenger air bag came out at an angle so as to hit my husband,(who was in the passenger seat) in the groin area. The air bag ruptured his right testicle and he had to have surgery. This has caused us to owe some extensive medical bills at this point. We had insurance, but it will not pay all of the bills. I feel that we should not be responsible for any medical bills for this type of accident, since it was caused by the air bag not deploying as it should have.

The Buick appears to have contact the front left tired, riding up onto the left fender and hood of the pickup. The pickup body had moderate damage suggestive of contact speed between 10-20 mph. Body damage to the Buick appears to be primarily on the left side. The left fender had minimum damage. The front bumper and undercarriage appeared to have moderate damage. All the transmission oil from the transaxle was released onto the pavement do to damage to the transaxle housing. . Both drivers were wearing lap/shoulder harnesses and did not report any injuries.
