Car was struck from behind first then forced into the car in front. This resulted in damage to both front and rear. The impact to the front failed to activate either driver or passenger airbag ,yet caused enough damage to indicate a force beyond the activation point was received.

The contact owns a 2002 Buick lasabre. The contact stated that the air bags suddenly deployed while driving 17 mph. There was no crash and the contact did not drive over any bumps or uneven surfaces. The passenger's right ear was injured in the incident. The doctor stated that she had a low tone problem with her hearing that would be permanent. General motors was contacted and they stated that it was a product defect. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and a rental vehicle was provided. General motors agreed to buy back the vehicle for $4700. 00. The contact was negotiating the buy back terms. The vehicle was not drivable. The failure mileage was 84,000. Updated 12/22/10 the consumer stated in October 2010 gm presented him with a check for $5500 and the title and vehicle was turned over to them. The vehicle was taken to a salvaged business and destroyed. Updated 12/29/10.
While waiting in a parking lot lane for a parking space to open, the driver's airbag deployed. I was not leaning forward, but I was looking slightly to the left. The bag just hit me on the right side forehead and covered me in powder. I could not hear out of my right ear, and still cannot today.

I have removed my dashboard cover or so called dash board pad and have re-glued it 3 times and now it is curling up at the forward end again. The front of the headliner is now rotting at the foam area between the fabric and the molded shape, the same as has been ocurring since the early 1980's. The foam is deteriorating from the heat and the sun, (florida owners are effected more than some), turning to powder so there is nothing that can be done other than replace it with the same garbage from gm or have an upholstery shop like mine. . The top dashboard on my 2002 year Buick Lesabre has become dislodged at the driver's side and is slowly becoming dislodged towards the passenger side. This is a critical safety concern because this top dashboard houses the air bag at the passenger side. The passenger airbag can become inadvertently deployed killing the passenger. Gm has refused to do a recall and its been 7 weeks since the national safety board said they will send me a complaint form to complete. I am gathering information to expose general motors lack of customer concern with a troubleshooter at my local tv station.
On my 2001 Lesabre limited, the dashpad came pulled loose and started bunching up in front of the steering wheel. Gm is not doing anything about it. If it causes airbag deploy or a sudden block of the driver's view, a serious accident may follow. ,.
Got into a car accident. The air bags deployed on the drivers side and passengers side, but they did not inflate. No lights on ithe dashboard. This happened sat. July 16, 2005. Had not contacted Buick.

While driving, both frontal air bags deployed when tapping the bumper in front at 5 mph. This caused the driver to sustain minor injuries. The vehicle was towed to a garage. The dashboard collapsed and the windshield shattered in two places and caused abrasions on both of the consumer's wife's arms due to the deployment.
Air bag design flaw - a life threatening design flaw. I am the original owner of a 1999 Buick Lesabre custom (purchased at the end of the model year). The car often spends time in the bright florida sun. Although I use a reflective windshield sun screen, the car still gets hot inside (as do most florida cars). Recently, the horn began to honk continuously. I took it into the orange Buick and GMC dealer in orlando FL. The problem is that the air bag has swolen up and compressed the horn relay. The air bag is broken and needs to be replaced. This is apparently a flawed air bag design, which must also endange people with this steering wheel/air bag design, living throughout the hot southern united states. The cost to replace the poorly designed air bag (with another one having the same poor design) is over $700 (difficult for me to do since I recently lost my job, which has moved off shore to india). It seems that the Buick manufacturer should be required to correct their life-threatening flawed air bag design. I hope to hear back from the d. O. T. About this life-threatening safety issue.

2001 Buick lasabre dash is peeling up between steering wheel and windshield. Started peeling up within a few years of car being manufacturered. Per local dealership, Buick will not cover expense to repair. This has become a real safety issue as you can barely see over the dash as it is sticking up so high and I have concerns that the air bag will deploy on the passenger side as the dash continues to peel all the way across the dash. Someone is going to get severely injured or killed if Buick does not fix this factory defect. Buick should issue a national recall to repair a defective dash.
I was hit head on. My vehicle a Buick Lesabre 2003 and the vehicle which hit me, a 2000 Chevrolet malibu was totaled. The airbag on my Buick Lesabre did not deploy, thus causing me physical injuries.

Another vehicle cut in front. Consumer applied brakes but hit other vehicle on right front. Upon impact with other vehicle, air bags deployed. Driver was jammed in seat, and unable to get out. Vehicle filled with smoke an powder substance which caused driver's eyes and throat to be irritated.
When vehicle hit a deer, the deployment of the frontal air bags injured both driver and passenger, driver received red marks, which looked like burns, on both arms, passenger legs were badly bruised, also the smell and the amount of power release from the air bags made it hard to breathe.
Not my vehicle. Vehicle was involved in a traffic collision and the driver's airbag deployed. A fire broke out in the steering column after deployment. There was no apparent damage to the passenger section of the vehicle from the mild to moderate crash. Driver escaped apparent injury. This is the first fire resulting from an airbag deployment of which I am aware. This is an important life safety issue. L. A. Co. F. D. Incident report # 00-055018.
