Vehicle stalled out on a highway (and at highway speed) and would not restart. Obviously this created a very dangerous condition for me and those around me as I tried to coast over to the shoulder (esp with loss of power steering and brakes). The problem came without any warning, and was determined to have been isolated to the ignition control module. Mileage on the car is only 43k.

While driving in petoskey the car started to miss an backfireing then the motor stop running. I couldn't stop or steer the car. After I got the car finely stopped the car wouldn't start up an I could smell like wire burning. I had the car delivered to an auto shop brown motors in harbor springs mi. After the diagnos they found that the fuse block under the rear seat was burned up at the fuel pump fuse, an was on fire at one time. . The fuse block was beyond fixing an needed a new one installed. There was a recall on the ignition switch, but this isn't what is wrong with these cars, I don' believe that the ignition switch on there recall are what is wrong, I believe that the fuse block is what wrong with there recalls when the fuse shorts out the fuel pump stops an so does the car motor. Strange that the car dealers for some reason has them in stock, there should be a recall on all car with this type of fuse box, this is what causing these car to stop running an get in a accidents. To day I got lucky.

Around or about October 2011, while traveling at approximately 40 mph, my 2007 Buick Lucerne's engine suddenly shut off. This caused the loss of power steering and brakes (and airbag?). Fortunately, I was on a secondary road and managed to get the vehicle to the side of the road without any problem. Initial efforts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful, so I called aaa for assistance. After about 15 minutes, and before aaa arrived, I was able to restart the car and drove home (it was a Sunday). The next day I drove the car to the dealership where I had purchased it (new) just over five years before (it was just out of warranty). After what I was told was a complete check, no apparent reason for the engine quitting could be found. I drove the car home and around town for several days, when the same thing happened again. This time when I took the car to the dealership I told my service consultant that I refused to drive the car, which I occasionally used to transport my young grandchildren, until the problem had been diagnosed and repaired. We agreed that one of the mechanics could use it for his personal use until the problem reoccurred. And it did. A few days later the dealership informed me that the car had again stalled, that the problem had been diagnosed, and that there would be no charge when I picked up the vehicle. The problem, I was told, was "in a computer" that had been replaced. I drove the car for several months after that (before selling it), and the problem did not reoccur. I brought this to the attention of both general motors and on-star (the latter, just in case the shutdowns had been prompted by that system) and nobody would acknowledge that similar incidents with Buicks had occurred: and they still won't. A cursory search of the internet shows similar problems with other Buicks, yet they are not included in any recalls. Why not? thank you.
Since about 60,000 miles, the car it stalls out. It can stall going 70 mph down the interstate, stall at stop signs, stall pulling out of an intersection. Last occurrence I was trying to cross a major highway when it stalled. I coasted across the highway and it restarted right away. If a car had been coming from either direction, we would have been hit. I have had 4 sensors replaced and nothing seems to fix this problem.
The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lucerne. While accelerating from a stop or making a turn, the vehicle stalls but does not shut off. The failure occurs intermittently at any speed. The dealer installed an oxygen sensor in hopes that it would alleviate the failure. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer six times, but they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle did not show a code. The failure still persists. The current mileage is 12,240 and failure mileage was 660.
Intially the auto hesitated and then accelerate. Reported to dealer on 09/18/06. Mileage was 7,291. . Then the auto would stall when driving at various speeds, at one time at 60 mph on the garden state parkway. Various fixes by the dealer failed to stop the problem. Have all documentation. In touch with gm on 06/13/2014 and advised to again bring back to the dealer. (kerbeck Buick atlantic city NJ. ). The gm rep ((shannon?) then said go to another dealer if not satisified. Going to dealer on next week. Please advise.
