Rust got to the back end of this car it is completely detached this car is not safe in any shale or form. The backend could fall apart at any moment and completely make the tires and everything else fall right off. It has only been inspected by me and I am 100%sure it is rusted through and through. Just don't wanna see someone get hurt. The car vibrates on the highway.

Periodically the engine will stop. This will generally occur while the car is in motion. This would cause a loss of power. When it occurs in traffic or on a curve this is exceptionally dangerous. It will restart by shifting into neutral and turning the ignition. It will occur anywhere, while turning or driving straight. This has continued for several years.

At approximately 157800 miles, drivers' side electric door lock became inoperable, unable to open door from inside with manual controls, unable to unlock door with remote and unable to open door with key from outside. Cannot open door to effect repairs as discovered online (ytube) as inside panel must be removed with door open. Must make entry from passenger side. If passenger side door lock freezes or if an accident occurs on passenger side would be unable to get out of vehicle. And now the rear drivers side door has done the same and cannot be opened or unlocked. Obviously the car is stationary when attempting to open or unlock the doors.
Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Buick Park Avenue. The contact stated that the seat control button plastic piece prematurely fractured and the contact had to tape the part to be structurally connected upon sitting in the seat due to the failure. The contact also stated that the electronic control function for locking and unlocking the doors failed to work. The door handle on the front passengers side failed to work, prematurely fractured and was not able to open due to the failure. The vehicle was to be taken to a dealer for inspection and diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000. Dyd.
Sudden engine failure. I own a 99 Buick Park Avenue ultra that has about 65,000 miles on it and is well maintained. The car is only utilized about 6 months out of the year since we are snow birds having returned from the east 2 months ago. Last evening as I drove north and up one of the long hills on the toll rd 73 in orange county, CA I experienced the sudden and total loss of engine power while traveling between 65 and 70 mph. All electrical systems, headlights, dash lights etc stayed on and appeared normal. Fortunately the traffic was such that I was able to pull over to the side of the road, stop and turn on my hazard warning lights. I sat for a moment and then tried to restart the engine. The cranking appeared normal and the engine immediately started and the engine parameters, temperature, volts, etc appeared normal. I was surprised to say least but we decided to start moving again and proceeded to drive pretty much at normal speeds without a hiccup the 20 miles left to get home staying in the rh lanes for the most part. Getting back into the fast moving stream of traffic was somewhat hazardous in and of itself. Prior to this sudden failure there was no warning or change in performance. The only caveat to that is that it seems lately there has been a minor but noticeable sag or hesitation when starting to accelerate while in drive and at highway speeds.
On 4 separate occasions and while traveling at speed around 50-65 miles per hour my car would just shut off. I would loose power steering and it would be hard to operate the vehicle. The last time this happened I was on a major freeway and had to pull over as cars would just drive by at 60 miles per hour or faster. I think it is ridiculous that my car is not included in the recall. This is a major safety issue and if I or my family would have been hurt or killed I am sure gm would add more cars to the recall. Why should I have to wait for a tragic incident to happen. I took my car to a shop and they informed me that is was the ignition issue due to the pk3 security system gm has on this car.
My daughter had a head on accident with another vehicle. The airbag did not deploy in our 2001 Buick park Ave. She died from her injuries. She was 17 years old.
In san diego union paper dated 10/28/2015, there is a recall on gm cars having the 3. 8 liter engine. It involves vehicles having this engine. The problem is intake manifold leaking oil. This was found by the smog station. Joseph l. Julich.

When I turned on the left turn, the lamp on the instrument panel had stopped blinking and stayed on, even when the switch was in the neutral position. Right-turn worked fine. The next day I could not start my car, the battery was completely dead. I was late for an important meeting. Later I found out that when the engine is off and the key removed from the ignition, all the lights on the left side of the car continued to burn, and that was the cause battery discharge. I started researching my problem on the internet and found out that many people faced the exact same problem. You can check google asking 'signal flasher problem Buick Park Avenue 1999' , 'left turn always on Buick Park Avenue 1999' etc. According my estimation, at least thousand people met this problem the culprit is 'turn signal hazard flasher unit'. It is obvious that this unit has a built factory defects and it is dangerous, this unit unnecessarily misleads other drivers, and is responsible for hazard flashing. I believe that gm should replace this unit at all Buick Park Avenue 1997-2005. Factory defect is obvious and the buyer does not have to suffer because of the shortcomings of engineers. Please replace my turn signal hazard flasher unit for free.

Had the rear window defogger on while driving home at 45 mph which is just a 15 minute ride and when I pulled in my driveway, smoke was filing the cabin of the car. I popped the hood and looked for damage and did not find any. Closed the hood and notice the rear (driver side) passenger seat on fire. I ran in the house and got the fire extinguisher and put out the fire. Unfortunately the insurer deemed the car a total loss due to extensive fire damage.
Any time the the battery is disconnected the gas needle goes on the wrong side and will not come back in place until the dash is removed and this problem is fixed at a dealership and this cost.
In 10 degree weather in the midwest, started the 1997 Park Avenue ultra to warm up. Put the rear defrost on, on my way to work about 20 minutes after he initial start of the vehicle, I began to smell something relating to burning electrical or electrical components. Upon further investigation, I found the module in the drivers side "c" pillar next to the rear window appeared to be melting/burning. I removed the module and found the power connector to the module had completely melted and almost caused an electrical fire. Due to my experience in electronics and vehicle electrical systems I was able to repair the module and replace the burned connectors with another type of connector. I would recommend anyone that owns a gm with this module, check connections and put electric safe dielectric grease on the connections to avoid arcing and possible fire.
I haven't had an earth shattering event yet but my problem is electrical so its only a matter of time before something bad happens . During normal operation everything electrical shuts down(headlights, taillights, dashboard lights, radio etc. ). The car will then jerk as if it has stalled, the warning lights come on then go back off and the car resumes running normally. The vehicle gives no code while hooked to a diagnostic device and the dealership can't fix it until "something breaks.
1998 Buick Park Avenue ultra security light comes on. The mechanic stated the door module needed to be replaced and the security module was probably defective.
The instrument cluster on the consumer's 2002 Buick Park Avenue failed.
While driving about 55 mph when vehicle lost electrical power and the engine stalled without a warning. Consumer pulled to the side of the road, then restarted the vehicle.
When applying brakes entire electrical system shut off. There was no steering or brakes, etc. Vehicle was taken to a dealership twice for this problem. Dealership was not able to correct the problem. Manufacturer has been contacted.
While the vehicle was being started the engine caught on fire. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The insurance company stated that the cause of the fire was unknown but could have been either electrical or fuel related.
The seat material is collapsing, consumer believes this problem to be a serious safety concern because the seats are connected to the seat belt, which also affect the electrical system causing the seats to move into another position, disregarding programmed settings, which causes the mirrors to change their pre-programmed position while driving, consumer feels she has been getting the run around for the past six months. Examples of electrical problems include: doors do not lock, windows get stuck. Consumer states that the seatbelt would not move from its standard position.
