Buick Regal owners have reported 3 problems related to high/low beam switch (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Buick Regal based on all problems reported for the Regal.
1) while driving at night with the brights on my headlights go out (fail) at random. The headlights come back on when the dimmer switch is hit ~or~ by themselves if I wait it out. 2) this headlight failure has caused several near accidents. It's a definite safety issue. 3) I have taken my vehicle in to be looked at twice and no correction has yet to be made to the problem. My mechanic now believes that it's due to a malfunction in the dimmer switch. *** this failure started in mid November '07 and has been ongoing ever since with several random incidents weekly.

The contact owns a 2000 Buick Regal. The failure mileage was 81000 and the current mileage was 86000. The vehicle headlights fail whenever using the highbeams. The contact stated that initially the highbeams turn off and the fog lights turn on, and now the highbeams work very sporadically. Speed is not a factor.
