Undetected safety hazard with 2003 Buick Rendezvous. . Spent over 11,000 with repairs & maintenance on this SUV and now over 5000 dollars trying to find the reason for the vehicle to keep shutting down after appx. 40 miles of stop and go traffic. . Have had many close calls of being hit when this happens and have had the vehicle in 5 times to the dealer to diagnose the problem to no avail. . Can not afford to trade and should not have too. . It loses power too when this problem happens. . They say they can not duplicate it when they drive it. . I have had 2 other people experience this problem. . I believe this is a very big concern for my safety and others too.

My wife and I own a 2005 Buick Rendezvous and we are starting to have problems with the transmission. I have been researching about the transmission for this vehicle and it seems after 60k miles the transmissions starts to go bad. I have keep up with the changing of the fluid but I think this a problem that should be looked into.
At 54,000 miles and only 2 weeks after the purchase of this vehicle the head gasket had to be replaced. After only 80,000 miles the transmission was replaced. The blower for the heat or air conditioner only works on three or above, the air conditioning no longer works, both rear coil springs must be replaced, an outer tierod is bad, two rear bushings need to be replaced, the front right control arm is broken, the drivers side window goes down but not up, it is leaking antifreeze and the tires keep going bad because they are wearing incorrectly. This car is a total piece of garbage. Every time I turn around it needs another repair. The cost of the repairs is almost as much as I have paid on the vehicle so far.

When snow builds up in wheel wells the awd became disabled and spun out in road, have failed with mud, build up as well had replaced 3 times since owning vehicle. Also feel that the sideview mirrors have dangerous blind spot that could be a problem.
I have had two different Buick Rendezvous. One was a 2004 and one was a 2003 Rendezvous. I have put three different transmissions in the 2003. I just, today, took my 2004 Rendezvous in for a transmission problem. I am tired of taking my car to the dealership. I live 50 miles from the dealership. I am a full time employee and I am also a full time student. I do not have all this time to keep taking my car back. I would appreciate if the Buick industry to look into this to find out why these cars have so many transmission problems.

My husband and I purchased a vehicle from little apple Toyota in manhattan, KS on June 2, 2006. The vehicle we purchased was a 2003 Buick Rendezvous and this was done through Toyota motor credit corporation. We explained to the gentlemen named tim that we would be making a few trips back and forth from kansas to texas. Also, my husband wanted peace of mind with him deploying to iraq that we would be safe. We were informed by him that this vehicle would be accepted even under the miles progam and that our vehicle would meet and exceed those. We took it for a test drive and heard some grinding and he said that they would put on new brakes that this was probably the cause. So anyway we have it a year to date and I am making a trip to kansas when it goes haywire. I take it to little apple who will not help me and they send it to stagg hill transmission who tells me it's going to be $4,000 for a new transmission and that all my wheel bearings needed replaced, but they won't be able to fix that. I guess bottom line is that no one wants to make good on a vehicle that we have only had for 1 year. The transmission shouldn't just go out at 24,000 miles. I went to a site and found others complaining of similar problems with their Buick Rendezvous. I think they need to be looked into more carefully. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one. Now I am stranded, car less, and my husband is deployed and can't help take care of the issues. I would like the Buick Rendezvous 2003 investigated.
On June 12, 2006 I was leaving my work place with both of my children. I was in the process of strapping my daughter's seat belt on her (age 5) when my 2 year old son jumped up into the driver seat and pulled the vehicle out of park. The car immediately started to roll backwards, as it was parked on a gradual slope. I was trapped behind the left side passenger door until the car made a slight turn and I was able to get out from behind the door. With the door still open the car then made a hard right turn and the passenger door opened where my daughter was sitting caught the tree and bounced back forward approximately 10 feet where it came to rest. I ran down to the car got my son out of the driver seat and pulled the keys straight out of the ignition. The motor of the car was not running at the time either. I phoned the dealership the next morning and they told me that there is no way that the shift lever can be pulled out of the parked position without the brake being depressed, which it was not as my son was standing in the front seat the entire time. They then called gm and I was told to call the customer service number. I called and after 2. 5 weeks of waiting gm is claiming that this particular car, 2006 Buick Rendezvous can be pulled out of park if the key was in the accessory position, which I do not believe it was because the radio would have been playing which it was not. Therefore gm is taking no responsibility for the damages to my vehicle.
