Heard a grinding noise when brakes were applied, immediately took to dealership, was told brakes were completely gone, metal on metal. Asked why no warning brakes were going bad and why all four brakes needed to be replaced on so called high end/top quality vehicle like a Cadillac at only 30,000 miles and was told "because it hasn't been driven enough and brakes wore faster due to rust". Although the mechanics agreed this was an illogical explanation and seems like a product defect, I was still expected to pay $600-800 to replace the faulty parts - which I have not yet done. I was never provided an explanation for why there was absolutely no warning that the brakes were failing, even though I expressed my concern about this being a significant safety issue. After a quick google search, I discovered others have experienced premature brake wear on Cadillac vehicles.

Hello, I have had my brakes pulsate (with a grinding noise) then fail while making a hard right turn on several occasions since last summer. This only happens at slow speeds such as pulling into a parking spot. Fortunately, I have not hit anything or anyone. I have had every recall fixed on my car up to date. I work next-door to a Cadillac dealership and john, my service writer told me there are no recalls or bulletins. I am very conscious about how and where I park. Please help get the word out to this problem. Throwing money at parts not needed to fix the problem is very expensive, as you can read on the forum from others like me. Its just a matter of time before someone gets hurt. Thank you. Regards, brenda.

The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Cts which was purchased in 2004. He heard a slight grinding noise coming from the vehicle for eight months. The dealer could not duplicate the problem. On a separate occasion, he heard a grinding noise coming from the braking system. Upon further investigation he found the rotors had ground into the brakes and pads which caused severe damage. The manufacturer stated there was nothing they could do to assist him. The failure mileage was 24,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.
