Cadillac Cts, 2009 model year. Placed the car in "park" and tried to turn the ignition off. Key would not turn to "off" position. Engine kept running. Key could not be removed from the ignition. The service technician said that he has encountered similar occurrence with many 2009, 2010 Cts vehicles. My father disabled the engine by removing the fuel pump fuse located in the rear trunk of the vehicle. The car was towed to a Cadillac dealer for repair. This is a dangerous circumstance. If there were an engine fire, one could not "turn-off" the motor and fuel would feed an engine fire.
The contact was renting a 2006 Cadillac Cts. On an intermittent basis, when the vehicle is being driven or idling, the electrical system stops working. The failure includes the windows, doors, and control panel. In addition, the abs light flashes on and off, the traction control activates, the radio does not work, and the doors do not work with the remote or key. After shutting off the vehicle, the key would not remove out of the ignition. While the key is still in the ignition and the door is shut, the vehicle locks. The only components that still work are the speedometer and rpm's. The contact took the vehicle to two different Cadillac dealers on ten different occasions. They were unable to duplicate the failure and they were unable to repair the failure. The current mileage was 46,200 and failure mileage was 42,000. Updated 08/12/08 the power seats and door locks were inoperative. The traction control light illuminated. The key would get stuck in the ignition when the consumer attempted to turn off the vehicle. Updated 08/12/08. Updated 08/15/08.
