Ignition Switch Problems of Cadillac CTS

The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated upon parking the vehicle, he attempted to release the ignition key from the ignition switch however, the key remained stuck inside the ignition switch. The message thief was displayed. The contact was able to release the ignition key after several minutes. The contact stated upon entering the ignition key inside the ignition switch and starting the vehicle in his garage, the message thief was displayed. The contact turned off the vehicle but could not release the ignition key from the ignition switch. The contact stated that the ignition key had remained stuck inside the ignition key for a week. Additionally, the contact stated that the gear shifter had seized in park(p). An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle in for repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Cts. While driving at various speeds the brake pedal depressed to the floor and failed to stop. The key was stuck inside the ignition switch , additionally, the contact detected fuel leaking from the vehicle. On Wednesday, October 18, 2017, while driving from work I had to suddenly apply to my brakes. In the process, from out of no where my car just cut off and continue to cruise along. I had to cruise to the side of the highway and at the same time my stern wheel was hard to turn. Once I came to a stop on side of the highway I attempted to put my car in park and turn my ignition switch to the on position. This was a very scary situation for me, because I was on the highway.

While driving 30-40 mph over a washboard surface, all electrical accessories went blank. The car continued on in a drivable condition, but windows fogged up. Electrics returned after stopping and re-starting. Problem has not returned. Have not been able to recreate the condition. The ignition key has the insert installed. Wondering if the ignition switch is failing like other gm products of this era.

I cannot unlock the ignition system to remove the key, I believe there is a recall on this model to replace the ignition switch. So what should I do?.

Vehicle cut off on railroad track while I was crossing it,. It would not start, key stuck in ignition switch and I could put the vehicle in park, front wheels shake while driving in the city, while traveling on open highway I hit a bump and the vehicle jumped out of cruise control and stops. I had it fixed by edenton motors in north carolina. There is recall on Cadillacs, but not on our 2005 Cadillac Cts. .

I received a set of from tiny keyrings ( gm## 23271934) to place on my rke transmitter to satisfy recall 14v394. Instead of replacing the perhaps defective ignition switch they sent me about a dime's worth of cheap key rings that will keep me from having my house key and other keys normally carried on the key ring. I would have to carry two key rings, one for the car and one for the rest of my keys. I find this unacceptable. If the ignition switch is defective and dangerous it should be replaced.

My 2013 Cadillac Cts was recalled for unintended rotation of the ignition switch. All that the recall required was to add a second small ring to the key and give me a paper telling me not to attach any thing to the key including the key fob. However, the dealer attached the key fob to the key. They just place the paper on my dash so I didn't read it till I was at home. I called the dealer service department and they said I should remove the fob. Is it acceptable the leave a defective part in a car and just tell you not to add anything to the key ring to try to prevent the problem from occurring?.

While driving turning left onto an expressway entrance my engine shut down I believe it was the ignition switch. Ive taken the vehicle to the dealer numerous times and they can't seem to find a solution. I am in fear that one day this car will lose power at the wrong time and cause a serious if not fatal accident. I was driving on I-75 in monroe, michigan. When another vehicle ventured or steered into my lane, where my my 2007 Cadillac Cts was cut off/bumped causing a frontal and back impact to the vehicle. Due to the recent gm problems with ignition switch I wanted to file this complaint on my 2011 Cadillac Cts as I am not hearing my car mentioned for recall. Twice within the first couple months of owning the Cts I started to accelerate into traffic from a stopped position and the car completely shut off like a light switch flipping. No sound was made but simply everything lost all power and forced me to coast into traffic. . . Twice!! I threw the car into neutral to try and restart it with no luck. It wouldn't even turnover. I had to come to a full stop (coasting to side of road after having traffic fly by me on a 3 lane highway) and then the car would restart like nothing happened. I took the Cts to ken dixon chevy/Cadillac (now waldorf Cadillac) in waldorf, MD and also to capitol Cadillac in greenbelt, MD. The techs told me the car showed no errors on the computer and also they could find no fault on the car and returned it to me. One tech did mention something about a heavy keychain could cause this. I passed him my keys and he said that my keys certainly shouldn't cause that due to the light weight. I am still driving the car and this latest news from gm has me very scared to drive this car in washington, DC traffic and put me and my family at daily risk. I posted this problem on the edmunds. Com Cadillac Cts car forum in March of 2012. No action was taken by gm customer service.
