Other Fuel System Tank Assembly Problems of Cadillac CTS

Bought a used car from auto boutique on 10/15/19 with car fax report showing no structural damage. When we test drove the car we notice the check engine light was on and a vibration. We were told to make an appointment and they would address the issue. Went on 10/18/19 for my appt, was there 8 hours to no avail, was told vibration was from a bent rim and that I would have to take car to a Cadillac dealer for the check engine light. Made an appointment with ritchey's Cadillac on 10/25/19 and was told the car was unsafe to drive, the gas tank isn't safe, 3 bent rims, the accident caused the airbags to deploy and were not reset properly, and this was one cause of the check engine light. The vibration and noise came from rear suspension bent in several locations, etc. I have a report from richie's Cadillac stating above, plus pictures and a estimate to fix. I notified auto boutique that I wanted to return car fro refund but got the run around, all they said was all there cars are sold as is, the have the buyers guide that is signed with no boxes checked. There are no signs stating cars are sold as is. We traded the car in on a new vehicle and asked for a refund for the difference, $18,000, I was told to return the car and they would fix the issues and call me when it was done, I stated it was too late for that because I had traded it for a new one because it wasn't safe to drive. We have an estimate to fix, photos and all paper work from the sale.

Noticed gas smell coming from car. I got worried once the gas smell became a everyday thing. Mechanic states a gas leak is coming from the gas tank area. Did a search online and a lot of petiole are having the same issue with this make and model.

The contact owns a 2008 Cadillac Cts. Immediately after pulling the vehicle inside the garage, a very strong fuel odor was present. The fuel odor seeped inside the house. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a line in the fuel tank failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

14v542000 was a recall on 2004-2007 Cadillac Cts for fuel leak above the tank. This 2008 model has the very same/similar leak and is not included in the recall? why not? same problem, very dangerous. Numerous complaints it looks like if you search internet about the 2008 Cadillac Cts fuel leak.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that fuel was leaking from the top of the fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

After fueling the car I was distracted and failed to remove the nozzle from the tank filler. As I moved forward, I heard a thump and stopped. The fueling hose was pulled from the filler and was also disconnected from the gas pump. There is a quick disconnect on the hose that parted. Evidently enough people make the same mistake otherwise the quick disconnect would not have bee provided. The station attendant said not to worry it is easy to reconnect. He said I was not the first person to do this and won't be the last. There is an easy remedy to prevent this from happening. All cars should be equipped with a sound waring indicating that the fuel hose is still in the filler. Even better there should be an interlock to prevent the car from starting. This would not be a very expensive warning device. It certainly would make more sense than having the windshield wipers come on when rain is detected.

Car was parked at work I was notified that it was leaking/pouring gasoline under car. Towed to dealership for repair. Dealership noted, "gas leaking at top of tank, connector shorted at top of fuel module which burnt a hole and was leaking gasoline". It cannot be caused by a road impact as it occurs on the fuel module on the top of the gas tank. Entire tank has to be dropped off of car to replace the module. I investigated in the Cadillac owners forum and it was noted that this has occurred on other Cadillacs and gm vehicles. Caused by a short. I notified dealership service manager of this and was told there is no recall.
