Power Window Problems of Cadillac Deville - part 1

2004 Cadillac Deville. Consumer writes in regards to various defects on vehicle. The consumer stated the mirror adjusters did not work properly, the front console fell out and was hangning by wires, the rear window on the passenger and the driver's side fell, and the rear door panel on the driver's side was loose. The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Deville. The contact stated that the rear passenger side window fell down into the door panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the window regulator. One week later, the exact failure occurred on the driver side window. The manufacturer was notified who advised that there were e no recalls for the failure and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 55,000.

All four windows are defective. They fell down one after another starting a year after purchase, and will not say up. This issue is widespread and popular with this model and year vehicle. They made a crackling sound and fell down for no reason of my own. I was quoted a price of $199 to repair each window. It is 2013 and I still haven't repaired any of the windows. This vehicle needs to be recalled to repair this factory defect. This issue is very disconcerting, embarrassing and a nuisance.

Electric window regulator on 2004 Cadillac Deville failed. This is the 3rd one since owning the car. Each repair is over $500. The problem is a plastic clip that brakes. Unheard of.

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where she was informed a plastic piece within the window mechanism was broken. The window was repaired. Have had a failure of three window regulators in the past 3 months in my 2004 Cadillac Deville.

All four power window regulators have failed. . . . We replaced one at approx $400, but it will be another $1000 to replace the other three so we haven't done it yet. . . . Asked Cadillac for assistance. . . Denied, but kept pressing and they are reviewing it.

Within the past 20 months, I have had three of my window regulators break on my 2004 Cadillac dhs and have paid over $1000 to repair two of them. The third is now going to cost me $690. 00. I contacted gm and they refused to do anything about it claiming it is not their problem. The service manager at the local dealership advised there is a problem with 2001-2004 models and their window regulators. I also notice on-line that there are many complaints about the window regulators breaking, however gm refuses to do anything about it. Is there any way that this could be looked into by the federal government and possibly cause a recall on these items because obviously gm is refusing to admit that there is a problem. I have now replaced 3 window regulators in my 2001 Cadillac Deville. It is dangerous because the window stays down and I feel unsafe in my car. It is also the dead of winter and had to take my daughter to school with the window in the down position with the temperature outside of 10 degrees in her ski outfit. One regulator is acceptable and maybe a fluke but 3 is unacceptable. Blogging on the net have noted several complaints about this issue. Gm uses a plastic piece not metal and this is the failure of the part.

The rear window regulator (part 10393233) of my Cadillac Deville 2003 failed to raise/lower window. This window was rarely opened, so the part should not have worn. The part was replaced by a gm Cadillac dealer at a cost of $681. 74 plus tax. The part cost $483. 74.

I had 3 windows on my 2002 Cadillac that the arm inside the window has broken and the window fall down and you cannot get it back up general motor has a problem with as the dealer told me he had others with same problem and he quoted repair cost with out looking up the cost.

She could hear the window motor attempting to take the window back up, but it failed. The dealer stated that the window regulator cable failed. The repair would cost $650. The service engine and traction control sensor illuminated intermittently multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The failure recurred with both sensors continuing to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the motor mounts and the power steering hoses. The repairs were performed twice before and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The consumer stated after the vehicle was serviced, it started vibrating. She returned to the dealer, where they informed her the motor mount needed to be replaced. All four power window motors had to be replaced, and the service engine soon light illuminated. The ignition needed to be replaced, and she was unable to start the vehicle on two occasions. Regulators in 2 of my windows at different times in my 2003 Cadillac Deville. Cost overy $600 each time. The last time was 4/22/08.

The third window regulator broke in vehicle, second this year.

Over the course of the last 8-months my 2004 Cadillac dts windows' motor (front and rear, left and right) failed to raise the windows after they had been lowered. One window at a time. This is a problem on this model year (2004). Many others have had the same incident. I am lucky in that I had a warranty in effect.

Power window lift mechanism failed.

The windows keep falling down on my new car. Operating mechanism is improperly designed.

April 2007 right passenger power window went out. May 2007 right rear window. Power window went out. December 2007 driver side power window has gone out. Dealer has not offered any help or compensation. They gave me the phone number for their customer service headquarters. I called, they were nice and promised to speak to the dealer. It seems the dealer has not responded to the calls from customer service. Now, customer service hasn't returned my call. I'm waiting for the fourth and final power window to go bad any minute.

In the past six months three window regulators have failed in my 2004 Cadillac dts.

Normal use of windows. All 4 window regulators failed. Replaced regulators at $350-450 a piece, old parts were available.

All four window regulators went out within one year. The repair costs ranged from $487 to $587 each. I researched the parts but because everything is housed in one part for this model it was impossible to find something affordable. The labor was $75. Any number of consequences could occur from the distraction to the driver when the loud pop occurs, from what might enter through the window while driving, or from an accident that may require exiting the vehicle through a window. Only a fool would replace with an old part since these parts do not last that long and cost so much.

Driver side power window failed in the down (open) position during heavy rain. A very fragile plastic connector failed where connected to a cable. The service man commented that this is a very frequent failure on this car. Window came down while on the highway at 70 mph. Causing my coffee to spill on the interior and myself. Cadillac dealer repair cost for window is $550. 00.

I have replaced 2 regulators in the last 9 months ( 5/18/06 & 12/18/06). While driving there was a very loud noise and the window dropped into the door panel. I had the regulators replaced at a cost of $350 each.

Right rear window emitted a loud "pop", and the window went down. Wedged the window in the up position as I was on my way to fla from new york. Upon my arrival in fla, took it to a dealer and they estimated the repair at $600. 00. I refused the repair and dissembled the door and window assembly to find the cable that controls the window to be disconnected due to a flimsy plastic catch that had broken. After several hours I was able to repair the window cable with a metal piece. Clearly this is an engineering flaw( I was an automotive engineer for 20 yrs. Had cycle and age tests been done properly, this flaw would have been detected, but then, the dealers would be out $600 per window for a . 05 cent part.

I have had to replace 2 of my window regulators in the past month. Now that the regulator and motor are one part, this is a fairly pricey repair. The noise is very scary when the regulator goes and can definitely cause an accident.

I have replaced all 4 window regulators on the car. They fail and the window falls down! when this happens it is very loud and distracting. In a driving rain it almost led to an accident! the car has 56,000 mile on it.

When rolling the windows down windows fall off the track drivers side window fell off track, had to have track replaced and pit put back on the track, a month later the right back side windows has fallen I will have to attempt to get the window repaired.

Front passenger and rear driver window fell down without warning will not go up. Contacted camargo Cadillac to see if covered under extended warranty they will not tell me over the phone said the car had to be brought to them.
