general problems of the 2012 Cadillac SRX - part 2

Can not see the road with low beams on. Very dangerous. Can not drive car at night.

Headlamps are to dim to safely drive at night. They have gotten worse as time went on.

This vehicle like all other Cadillac Srx models on the road has the same low beam lighting issues that have been complained about before. This has been an issue for years and gm knows about the issue. When driving the vehicle at night your lucky to be able to see more than 3 feet out. This is a safety concern not only for the driver and passengers but for all other vehicles and pedestrians on the roadway.

When driving at night using the low beams you cant see anything, it like not even having them on. Replaced bulbs still the same.

Low beam headlamps have dimmed to the point of having to use the high beams all the time. Understand there has been a problem with this year's headlamp assembly with water entering inside and dimming the lamps. Have contacted gm/Cadillac as there was a service bulletin issued. We were never informed of prior litigation and feel that this is a safety problem and should be addressed by gm/Cadillac. Thank you.

Low beams are too dim and have moisture build up and have to use high beams to drive safley at night.

Hed lights have been out for past months I have replaced light bulbs often I'm scared to lose light . Had light having water moist.

Low beam lights are too low to drive vehicle safely, high beams ok, this is a known complaint to gm but they are not doing anything about it.

Im thinking of reaching out to an attorney before someone is killed in this car or by this car. Purchased new 2012 Srx. Has 49,000 miles. Sunroof broke 2 different time $3500. Liftgate/sunroof wouldn't open $3500. My husband researched to find this model has faulty drain hose in sunroof causing water to leak into vehicle resulting in erosion in the electrical module causing short out yet Cadillac, or gm will admit. Numerous complaints online. Google 2012 Cadillac Srx it's disheartening knowing the price you paid to get screwed! what next? I haven't been able to see at night lights on dim may as well be off! numerous times almost wrecked trying to see. Purchased extended warranty. Called johnson motor CO 12/26/19, couldn't get me in until 1/6/20. Dropped car off 8am Monday service tech agreed there was moisture and fading of my lights this is a major problem with this make but most likely I will be responsible. Stated fla and cal were the only states a lawsuit was settled. How can gm/Cadillac settle in 2 states and not everyone who owns these defective vehicles with the same issues? remember mon morning dropped my car off I receive a call 930 stating bad news we don't cover this and your extended warranty ran out at midnight last night(Sunday) you can call Cadillac and complain most likely they wont take responsibility. Are you kidding me right now? tried to get my car in week and half prior and this is faulty designs that has to do with gm/cad not anything I've done or caused from age. You pushed me out 2 weeks for service. I reached out to numerous individuals trying to fight this expensive issue only to be told over and over "im sorry I understand" not to mention they kept my car for a week, did nothing to it, would not put me in a loaner car. What kind of customr service is this? I will never buy another Cadillac! I hope this helps someone not to waste their $$$$$$.

Headlamps are dim and one burnt out. When took to the dealer they were leaking and allot of moisture in the headlamp assembly. After investigating this has been an ongoing issue with this car. 2012 Srx. Gm needs to take responsibility for this issue. T has settled same problem in California and florida. This happened in motion and was hard to see the road. Very dangerous if both would have went out.

I recently purchased a 2012 Cadillac Srx. When driving it at night with my low beams on I can barely see the road ahead, I had the bulbs changed , but the situation is still the same. I have to drive with my high beams on. Which I was all most received a ticket for, until I explained the problem to the officer. Doing further research I found that this has been an ongoing problem with this vehicle , and that nothing has been done about by gm or the gov. I refrain from driving at night because of this which makes it very inconvenient . This is definitely a safety issue and should be addressed as such.

The car has extremely dim low beams and I cannot see anything at night. It doesn't matter if the vehicle stationary emotion or on a city street or highway I cannot see anything ever since I got this car.

Very dim (ineffective) low beam head lights.

1. Low beams head lights very weak had the lens buffed and polished but this only help a little. Having to use high beams when driving at night on single and two lane roads. Very unsafe night driving. 2. Rear tail gate closes automatically after being opened for about 2 seconds, this action is subject to cause injury to persons using the rear gate to store or remove items from vehicle. Both issues occur whether vehicle is stationary or in motion. I see there is no recall issued for these safety issues but in my opinion there should have. I am submitting this on the behalf of my daughter . I entered a date because the digital form required it but these issues have been going on for quite some time now, not sure of the first occurrence. Thanks for any help concerning this safety issue. Vehicle head lamp (low bean lighting) is too dim to see while driving at night. This happened over time, water is leaking into the head lamp capsules.

Dim head lights . . . Unsafe driving conditions at night have to use bright lights often which is bad for other drivers.

I have a Cadillac 2012 and I can not see to drive it at night. I have to use the high beams to see blinging the on coming vehicles which is very dangerous. At unknown time when a apply pressure to the brakes my vehicle wont stop. I have to pump the brakes and that don't work. The pedal drops to the floor. Took it into the shop and they stated they couldn't find anything wrong. This have happen to me 3 times as of now, I pray there isn't a accident.

Exterior lights on dim are not good. Hard to see. Had new bulbs like what was originally in the car put in and they too went dim. Asked if there was a recall and gm said no. This is leaving my vehicle undriveable at night. I don't understand why gm does not have a permanant fix for this available. They should replace these bad lights. High beams are fine it's just the dim lights, I could get a ticket for driving at night with the high beams on all the time so I can see so I just drive another car at night. They were fine until 5 months ago.

When lights are placed on dim you cannot see to drive at night. Very dim and unsafe.

Low beam headlamps became very dim. Cleaned housings and replaced bulbs, and problem did not get any better. We have to use high beams all the time to see at night.

The head lights have grown very dim. Very difficult to see at night. Very dangerous. Do not have very good line of sight. Even after replacement, still have very limited line of sight. Still very dim. This happens both driving on the highway and in town.

The contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Srx. While driving at night, the headlamps were very dim and foggy. The contact noticed water entering the headlamps and was unable to see at night. The contact called kerry Toyota in florence, ky and was informed that there were no recalls. The manufacturer was notified, but did not respond. The approximate failure mileage was 56,390.

Headlamp assembly lost its seal. Allowed moisture inside which shorted out low and high beam on driver side. Happened while driving at night and made it difficult to see. Dealer said it was common for this vehicle and would cost $1400 to replace the headlamp assembly.

The contact stated that moisture had entered the light fixture. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the failure. The light bulb was replaced, however the failure was persistent. The contact stated that he was a certified ase certified mechanic. The local dealer, Cadillac of new orleans 3100 lime street, metairie, la 70006, was contacted they informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, the referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 81,650. Ec.

Headlamps on low are so dim it is dangerous to drive. I have run off the road numerous times.

Both front head lights have water and condensation behind the lens which causes the light bulb to burn out. This is very dangerous if you are driving in rain or snow. It's a big safety issue.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Srx. While driving various speeds, the headlamps were dim and created poor visibility while driving at night. The vehicle was taken to barkley Buick GMC (3575 skyland blvd e, tuscaloosa, al 35405) and the light bulbs were replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000. The VIN was not provided.

You cannot see to drive at night with the low beams on. They are very very dim and are an extreme safety hazard.

Low beams do not illuminate road, especially bad in rain and on open road outside of city.

Vehicle low beam/daytime running lights illumination does not allow you to see the road at night making it a severe safety hazard.

Low beam headlamps are disfunctional. They are so dim, you cannot drive the vehicle at night without the aide of the high beam headlamps.

Approximately 3 years ago I spoke with my Cadillac dealer regarding the head lights. They checked the car and said they were fine. The lights are so dim at night that it appears you do no have lights on. The dealer recommended putting led lights in, that did not help. I replaced the original bulbs and that also did not help. The lights are so dim at night that I have to use the high beams to drive at night. It is impossible to see the road or side of the road when driving on a road with no marked lines. This is a huge safety issue!! again today I spoke with the dealer, and they still have no resolution to the problem.

Low beam lighting is very very poor, like not having any lighting at all. Very dangerous ! have changed bulbs but no luck. Dealer tested and advised they are normal, no way. Would like to see them drive it at night. I like the vehicle but feel I'm forced to trade-in, just to dangerous because I often have to drive at night. New vehicle will not be a Cadillac !.

Lowbeam lights are so dim they are not usable. Must use high beams to drive at night. Dealer adjusted lights and replaced bulbs but did not help. They said entire headlamps assemblies would need to be replaced at extremely high cost.

The low beams on this car are so dim that you are unable to drive the automobile at dark. It is a major safety issue as you cannot see a 100 feet in front of you. I have made numerous inquiries to the dealership. I have been told they were fine. Cadillac knows they have an issue but will not make repairs. This is has been an issue since we bought the car in 2015 with 39,000 miles on it.
