Timing chains! car was parked, and went to start it and it wouldn't start. Had it towed to dealer and they told me it was timing chains and $2800. 00. In doing some research, found that 2004 - 2006 models are having issues with the oil getting to the chains properly, because the hole is too small to lubricate chains. I buy high end cars and take care of them. This is the first time a timing chain has ever gone out on any of my vehicles. (been driving 40 some years) a mechanic has told me that they are seeing more and more of them. I think there should be a recall or at least someone looking into this. Another person that I know of had their 2004 cts timing chains go out while driving down the freeway and it blew the engine.

2007 Srx camshaft drive chains wearing out[stretching]prematurely with less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle. Condition could cause failure of the chains leading to loss of motive power. Cadillac is aware of the problem but has declined to notify owners of the affected vehicles. Engine is the 3. 6 liter v-6. Service writer at the dealership stated to me that Cadillac had received a batch of the affected chains from their supplier, apparently there is a TSB[technical service bulletin]out in regards to this problem. Also ,stated that they had repaired about ten of this model to date.
