Safety defect remedies on 2014 Cadillac Srx (VIN: 3gyfnee36es532374) dear sir/madam, I am writing as the owner of a 2014 Cadillac Srx, VIN 3gyfnee36es532374, to address two critical safety defects that I believe are the manufacturer's responsibility to remedy. Water intrusion and electrical failure: my vehicle has a known defect where water from the sunroof consistently leaks into the trunk. This water repeatedly causes electrical damage to the component located under the spare tire. I have personally replaced this component on three separate occasions, only to have it fail again after rain. This recurring failure disables my rear windshield wiper, a crucial safety feature. Driving with my child in the car while unable to clear the rear window is the most unsafe I have ever felt. Dangerously dim headlights: the front headlights are dangerously dim and do not provide adequate illumination for safe night driving. This is a well-documented issue with this model and poses a clear and present danger to my family and others. I have already spent my own money attempting to fix a problem that is a design flaw. I have no desire to pay for any further remedies for these issues. As the manufacturer, general motors is responsible for the safety of its vehicles. I have also filed a formal complaint with the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) regarding these matters. I await your prompt response and a clear plan to resolve these critical safety issues at no cost to me. Sincerely, tayla andre lantz 523 norfolk street, mattapan tayla. Andre@gmail. Com 617-459-0041 vehicle VIN: 3gyfnee36es532374 current mileage: 134,683.

The headlights on low beam , have become too dim. We have replaced the bulbs , but they did the same thing. Low beam visibility is definitely a safety issue. Took the vehicle to a body shop, and they concluded the whole light assembly would need replacement, to remedy the issue. No warning lights or messages have ever appeared. We had them replace both light assemblies, and the problem was resolved. We feel it should be a warranty issue.

Headlights!!! the headlights are so dim that other drivers flash me, honk at me or yell at me to turn my lights on when driving at night. When driving at night it is the same as driving without my headlights on. I have to use the high beams to drive at night. I changed the fuses, changed 1 of the bulbs and still no difference. The whole headlight housing needs to be changed. Here is a link to a gentleman who did the work to find out why Cadillac Srx's seem to be having this issue: [xxx] . Please, we need a recall to fix the headlights. This is a safety issue for me driving at night as well as anyone else on the road who can't see me. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I recently had to drive at night. The low beams are so dim you cannot drive. I have to drive with the high beams. The low beams are on, but not bright enough to drive. What is the fix for this. Thanks.
My headlights are so dim it looks like I don’t have headlights until I do bright lights. I literally have to drive with bright lights all the time at night. Found this out on 6/15 while trying to get home from lando lakes, FL. I don’t do much night driving but at 74 years of age I should be able to see.
The headlights are ineffective. It is like driving without headlights at night. Had bulbs replaced but did not improve lighting. Moisture on inside of windshield. On cold evenings the inside of the windshield is frozen. March 21, 2024 the tailgate will not open. It appears this is a common complaint with this vehicle caused by drainage from the sunroof leaking onto the module that powers the tailgate.
It is a common issue with 2010-2016 Cadillac Srx for the reflective material on the inside of the low beam halogen projectors to flake off, causing extreme decreased visibility at night, especially in inclement weather.

The headlights are very dim it is like driving your vehicle with a flashlight as the lighting. When you turn on bright lights you can see good but your then endangering drivers going the opposite directions it is very dangerous. If you reserch this issue on the internet it is a well lnown problem. How can people drive their cars like this. I did inquire with gm and they said they did at one time reimburse owners to get headlights replaced but that offer expired well there are people out there driving these dangerous cars that were not notified of this. I would invite anyone to drive one of these cars and see how bad it is. It is very urgent that someone look at this problem I have seen where there have been recalls over 10 years old . I am trying to get across how dangerous this cars lights are. Please someone look into this sincerely sue lanford lance lanford I dont know if NHTSA can or would get the media to film the lighing on these vehicles.

There is a known safety issue with the factory headlights as they are far too deem at night. Unsafe to drive. I had to pay money out of my pocket to replace the headlights as Cadillac no longer replaces them. There should be a permanent recall and coverage for this. Please investigate this issue as this should not be something an owner should have to pay when it clearly is an issue with the manufacturer.
2014 low beams became dim. I changed out the bulbs for new ones and still cannot drive my vehicle at night. The Srx website states this is a known Cadillac Srx problem but there is no fix except to replace the lights with the same defective lights.
The headlamps were replaced in 2020 (vehicle recall), and I was reimbursed for the replacement. The headlamps are now, again, dim and ineffective at night.
The forward section of the sunroof exploded into thousands of pieces and fell into the driver and passenger sides of the front seats. This happened while my wife was driving down a rural highway, no other cars or equipment or buildings were near the vehicle when this occurred, open fields on both sides of the highway nothing hit the glass. This is a very big safety issue, the potential response from a driver that unexpectedly has what sounds like a gun go off 12 inches from their head, not to mention all the glass that falls onto them immediately after the explosion.
Our 2013 Cadillac Srx headlamps are so weak and dark we cannot drive it after it gets dark. They are so weak that other cars pull out in front of us because they can't see us coming. This seems to us to be very dangerous. I talked to the service dept. At the cadilliac dealership and they said "that' just the way it is with these cars" I think it's time for a recall and make gm make the necessary fix.

Lights on dim are extremely dangerous. I could not see an animal in the road after dark. I can not drive my vehicle after dark because of afraid of running over something or crashing. I cannot tell you enough how bad it is. I have been reading complaints on all the Cadillac reviews on my year and model. Why would Cadillac put something on the roads this dangerous?.
Low beam headlights to dim to drive. . . Very dangerous and gm is aware of the defective headlights.
Since I purchased this car secondhand, the headlights are very dim at night, and it is unable to see in the dark, unless if I have my highbeams on which is a big safety hazard. The class action act expired by the time I purchase a vehicle, and I was unaware of this at the purchase of the vehicle. I have been in contact with two different aftermarket warranty companies, and they are refusing to cover it, in contact with Cadillac and OH, they suggested it was an aftermarket warranty. I have been unable to get coverage for something I believe I should since it is a safety hazard and that is not anything at my fault.
Condensation on both headlights.
Intermittent windshield wipers do not work.
The headlights are very, very dim when driving the vehicle at night. They are getting progressively worse. Before I took ownership of the vehicle, it was owned by my elderly parents, (82 and 88), both recently deceased. In the years prior to their deaths, they drove much less and hardly ever at night. It wasn't until I took ownership that my wife and I began to notice just how dim the lights were when driving at night. I took the car, which then had 52k miles on it back to bentley Cadillac in huntsville, al, where it had been purchased to have it's latest recall performed. I also paid $1350 to have the climate package controls replaced, which hadn't worked properly for years. I was preparing the vehicle to sell as I was left with too many vehicles and too few drivers. A potential buyer test drove it and part of the drive was at night. They came back saying what we had noticed previously, that the headlights were too dim for safe nighttime driving. The buyer, who had previously expressed very strong interest did not follow through with the purchase as she stated that she felt the vehicle was unsafe to drive at night, which, of course, would seriously limit the vehicles usefulness to her, or, to anyone else for that matter, including myself. I looked at the internet to try and ascertain whether there were others having similar problems with vehicles like mine. Indeed, there were many describing exactly the problems I had been experiencing. The seals on these SUV's were and are continuing to break down allowing moisture into and the headlights, making them defective and unsafe to drive. While I found no active recalls, Cadillac had previously acknowledged the problem by reimbursing some owners for repairs they themselves had paid for up-front around the year 2020. I contacted the Cadillac and the dealership. The best they did was to offer between around $400 and $600 toward a repair that was going to cost between $1600 and $2k, or more by the time is was completed.
Foggy headlights cannot see… reported by multiple Srx owners.
My car is undriveable after sunset because of low beam dim headlights. My car is a 2014 Cadillac Srx with 74971 miles. I've had a estimate of $1763. 24 to fix problem at labadie Cadillac in bay city, mi. After investigation this has been a problem known to you for years, I don't understand why a safety recall has not already been ordered against gm, we can't see where we're going at night, that sounds like a safety problem to me. I know gm has paid for repairs after class action lawsuits, but why wasn't a safety recall ordered by you?.
I was driving in the rain with the front windshield wipers on and when I attempted to adjust the speed with the lever on the steering wheel column the front wipers stopped working roughly 1/2 the way up on the windshield. It was raining, and I was not able to see the road in front of me. I managed to pull into a retail parking lot and waited for the rain to subside before continuing to drive the vehicle. The wipers do not work even after restarting the vehicle multiple times. I checked the fuse that that is not the problem. I have an appointment to get the wipers checked out and repaired at a gm dealership in 3 days (earliest appointment). There were no warnings or other indicators of a problem with the wipers.
You can not see the highway at night. One has to slow down or stop to see. The only way to see is with the high beams on,which is unsafe for other drivers coming toward you. On other ocassions,I simply had to pull over to the side of the road.
The low beam headlights are dangerously defeative on all Srx models. Something needs to be done before more people die in crashes at night with these vehicals.
Vehicle headlights are very dim and night visibility is extremely limited and very dangerous. Driving in rain proves impossible. Seems to be a known issue that Cadillac owners are repairing themselves to the tune of between $1400-3000. Models Srx, years 2010-2016 after reading many user/enthusiasts web forums, I see this issue being reported by hundreds of owners.
The exterior housing units prematurely wear out and allow moisture to cause failures of the lights. The makes driving at night hard, because you can barely see. Gm tried to give some customers a rebate, but this required owners to pay out of pocket at first for repairs, and this causes me an undue burden because I don't have that kind of money. This is very dangerous and gm should recall this.
The headlamp assembly is faulty. There is virtually no visibility from headlights. The headlamps were so bad, I was put at risk because I was almost hit head on by an oncoming vehicle at night. I had to veer off the road to avoid collision, risking mine and my daughter's life. It has been inspected by dealership and confirmed the headlight assembly faulty because of damage to internal component. An independent service center diagnosed and confirmed as well.
Windshield wipers stopped working while in rain storm. Motor was still running but the wiper transmission was disconnected from motor. My 2 year old grandson was in the car at time of failure. They were able to safely return home. This incident could have caused a serious accident.
I have been having problems with my headlights since the day it first rained and I purchased my vehicle. Now the lights have dimmed all the way down and flicker as I drive at night can't see anything. I have replaced numerous bulbs and fuses to no avail. The seats act weird when you set them for yourself or another driver. The wipers barley work its like driving trying to kill yourself or someone else.

You can not drive the car with low beams at night. Can't see at all. Must drive with high beams and blind oncoming traffic. Please make Cadillac fix this problem.
There was a defective light headlamp recall issued in year 2020 for my vehicle 2015 Srx Cadillac. This was during the covid pandemic. The recall started around March 2020 and ended June 2020. I was affected by covid 19 as many were and I missed that window by a couple weeks. There was a noticeable dimming with my headlamps when driving at night. This issue has threatened me and my family putting our lives at risk. I took my vehicle back to steve foley Cadillac where I purchased it and it was confirmed that the headlamps were defective and needed replacement. Management in parts department told me I had to contact gm to get their approval to replace my headlamps in writing or I would have to pay out of pocket (2000. 00 +) because the recall had expired by a couple weeks prior to getting my vehicle in for inspection. I continued to reach out to gm with many phone calls thru emails and texts they continued to say someone will call me back or e-mail me but it never happened. The safety and care of customers should never be compromised or ignored when catastrophic outcomes are present.
Drivers side mirror delaminated. Car has exactly 46663 miles on it and is garage kept. Cadillac says sorry it's out of warranty and wants almost $500 to replace this safety related item.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that his front headlights were dim due to moisture build up in the headlight compartment. There were no warning lights that had illuminated due to the failure. The contact took the vehicle to joseph Cadillac 7600 industrial rd, florence, ky 41042 where he was informed that he would have to pay out of pocket for the repair. The contact stated that he had received a letter in regards to the matter and have it inspected by a dealer. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000. Jo.
I have complained to Cadillac about my headlights having condensation which leads to them intermittently turning off. It's illegal to drive without headlights at night in wa state and it's dangerous. On 2/28/20, Cadillac sent me a letter acknowledging that's the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Srx may experience issues that could cause moisture to accumulate in their headlamps capsule and cause halogen headlights to become dimmer over time. They state in the letter that they will only reimburse up to $1,600 for the repair. The repair is $2,600. Then they said the claim form has to be submitted by may 28, 2020. None of the dealerships have the headlights because they are on back orders. They told me they may not get the headlights by that time. In other states lawsuits have been filed where Cadillac did not win. In those lawsuits it was noted that Cadillac was aware of this defect and ignored it. I'm asking that you please order Cadillac to issue a recall. It's the right thing to do and it's a safety concern.
Headlight moisture problems, when water gets into the headlight the headlight will no longer work until the water evaporate or dries out completely.
