Asking if anyone knows about the 2010 chevy Avalanche and the ecm problems that alot of people are having having , the check engine light came on and the display showed reduced engine power, service traction control, and service stabilitrak. It would not go in gear , nor would it start , this had happened to the truck three times now , the first time it would not go into gear and it stopped and would not start at all , so I took the negative battery cable off for 30 minute and it fixed it . The second time all the light and buzzers went off , I had lack of power and the check engine light came on and the display showed reduced engine power, service traction control, and service stabilitrak while I was driving it so I took it home , I was lucky that I didnt get in a wreck because it dropped drastically in speed all at once , again I took of the cable , and went to have the diagnostic reading done at a parts store , the next day I drove it to my mechanic and he cleared all the history on it and told me to call when it happens again , it seems that the 2010 Avalanche has this problem alot , so today it happened again , for no reason ,.

Service stabilitrac system indication comes on, with check engine light, and engine power reduced. Happens randomly, cannot find a "common cause" spent lots of money on pcm, bcm, memory seat module, battery cables, battery, brake light switch, etc. Etc. Dangerous condition when vehicle drops into power reduction mode.

2005 chevy Avalanche 1500 z66 (5. 3l flex fuel). Sudden warning from info center on dash that stabilitrak had been disabled. Traction control off and theft deterrent warning lights came on and stayed on until vehicle was stopped at a red light. Truck was turned off and restarted after approx. 1 minute. All systems normal when restarted. Problem was intermittent and when it returned later that same night, innova code reader was at the ready. P1626 code suggested loss of communication with modules among other issues. Problem very similar to another complaint [10631837] in a 4-wheel drive Avalanche--my truck has 2-wheel drive. Would not have been so willing to file a complaint with NHTSA except for the fact that my 2007 Avalanche ltz 4-wheel drive (5. 3 flex fuel) also has experienced multiple loss of communication/voltage drop events among internal components with wacky events while either driving or while parked [to include but not limited to flickering headlights when applying the brakes, cruise control disengaging at speed either by itself or when lane change/turn signal activated, hvac head unit going off and resetting, nav/radio going off with a "pop", drivers door control panel flashing along with headlights as truck is parked @ nite, a drivers seat that moves all the way forward as the doors are unlocked with the remote (easy exit feature never used by me), reverse mirror tilt active (though never set to do so), only rear doors locking when remote pushed--2 front doors had to be manually locked, engine hours back to zero, etc]. No immediate safety issues to date, but stabilitrak turning itself off while driving was not reassuring [and could pose a danger at highway speeds and/or hazardous driving conditions. ] dealership has not been able to reproduce problem(s), but has suggested a known problem with the oem battery cables--mine tested ok per dealership.

Engine stalls shortly after starting. Unable to get any response after the initial stall (it would not crack). Battery cables must be disconnected from the battery and reconnected after two to three minutes in order to restart the vehicle. No engine trouble code displayed after the incident.

Speedometer sticking on 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4wd,nothing leads up to it just driving and it sticks at a certain speed wont correct itself,to correct it you have to unhook battery cables and then it is ok for a while until it sticks again, this has happened over 4 times now have been waiting for a recall to fix problem. This can not be caused by bad driving by owner or improper maintenance, this is something electronic.
I own a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche with 46655 miles and on or about October 31, 2006 the speedometer began acting erratic. The speedometer registered past 120 mph and locked while driving on I 95 at 70 mph. I know the speed because I was following a family member and was talking on the cell phone at the time. When I arrived at my destination the speedometer remained locked past 120 until I unhooked and re-hooked the positive battery cable at which time it returned to 0. Speedometer worked for about a month then did the same thing, I subsequently repeated the battery procedure until I talked to my local Chevrolet dealer who without even looking at the vehicle said that I needed to replace the gauge cluster and that it was a common problem. When I returned to the big country Chevrolet in hemingway, SC and they ran the diagnostics it was determined that the cluster needed to be replaced for $380. After researching this problem on the internet I found that this a very prevalent complaint that Chevrolet is not addressing but is charging consumers $375-1000 to correct but is not taking any responsibility for installing a substandard speedometer cluster. I have read all about the class action suits lawyers are advertising but I am not interested in making money for lawyers. I am a retired police officer and paid, what I believed, is a lot of money for my vehicle and I'm not sure who to turn to other than your agency. I would like to know if there is any ongoing investigation into this problem or anything being done to force Chevrolet into taking responsibility for this dangerous situation. I look forward to your response.

On sept 5th 2004 while parking my vehicle it lost power and vehicle came to a sudden stop. I was unable to start my vehicle. Upon checking the engine I found that the battery had exploded and I found that the positive battery cable had come off completely along with the battery terminal. I do not know what caused it, but I bought another battery and the vehicle worked fine. I am just worried that it may occur again. Has there been anything simlilar occur with other vehicles like mine? I have kept the old battery and will contact the dealer where I bought my vehicle on 9-7-04, due ti holiday I was unable todo anything else.
