The one piece dashboard has been cracking in multiple places for approximately 5 years. I see that there are multiple, multiple, multiple complaints regarding this issue across various models all of which occurred after the one piece dashboard was implemented. I also saw that a class action suit was filed and dismissed because this is not a “safety issue”. In my opinion, this is a safety in the event of an air bag deployment especially with the multiple cracks (which have occurred over the years). We take immaculate care of our vehicles and rarely trade them in under 10 years. We are also retired and don’t have the luxury of dropping 2k on a dashboard replacement. We respectfully request the replacement of the dashboard under manufacturer defect. Please advise if this is possible.

I was driving to work 12/17/16, 5:40am. I was traveling to work and I lost all pressure in my pedal. Which led me to nearly hit a telephone pole. The master cylinder and a flex brake line going from the master cylinder to the brake booster(module) were replaced. But this did not fix the problem. I have bench bled the master cylinder, and all brake lines around the truck. I still have no brakes unless you push them to the floor. I have done some research, and found were other people with the same model and year truck have had the same problem. After reading all those blogs and post, I discovered that the model and year of Avalanche that I have was recalled for the abs system for failure.

When you hit a bump the door locks unlock and lock abs lights come on says reduced power you maybe going 55 mph then when you hit the bump you loose power maybe be lucky to go 5 mph very very dangerous have spent a lot of money trying to figure out the problem should be a recall with all the complaints I have seen online about this problem I can't drive my truck afraid I will get killed.
4"takata recall" the contact owns a 2004 chevy Avalanche with a set of capitol precision trac ll tires on it. While pulling off in the vehicle and driving around 35 mph you could feel the back end shaking and wobbling like the lug nuts were loose. The vehicle was pulled off the road to investigate the shaking issue where was found that the tires tread was separating making humps and waves in the tread. This happened on the highway at 92,207 miles on vehicle and 7, 319 miles on 265/70r17 capitol precision trac ll tires. The vehicle was parked for a few days until getting tires to replace the capitol tires but once the vehicle started moving to take it to the shop to replace the tires the front had started to shake just like the back at 92,221 miles on the vehicle but not as much. Walmart changed the tires and the technician reported the tires were really bad with tread separating from the tire and also that this brand tire were recalled. I have taken these tires back to tire pros where it was purchased and now is awaiting them to send these tires back to the tire company for an investigation of the tire. The recall # is 14t013-8570 if I'm not mistaken.

My vehicle has a kelsey hayes abs module that has already failed twice. First at about 75. 000 miles and now at 130. 000 miles, always while driving. The module was recalled in 2002 and the manufacturer was given a chance to redesign it, but it is still a bad part. The blogs are full of owners constantly complaining about this. I had to take gm to the mat to replace the first one since the truck was manufactured after the first recall. This time around I didn't have the time or patience to do so an went ahead an replaced it out of my own pocket. Ia m also stuck with this part as it is not replaceable with any other brand. This is a dangerous glitch that needs to be addressed before someone gets badly hurt. In addition to this problem, the location of the unit (outside the vehicle and exposed to all sort of inclement environments) is ridiculous! no clever designer would have chosen this placement.
The interior door handles keep cutting people because the chrome covering is peeling up and the edges of it are very sharp. This happens when people are getting into or out of the car. I believe this is also a common problem with these vehicles. This vehicle only has about 60k miles on it. Date below is approximate.
The fuel lines rubbing together causing fuel to dump every where right next to the cat on the driver side of the truck n this is not a recall. Then I say its attepmed murder charge agaisnt chevy. . . .
The instrument panel cluster does not light up. Cannot tell what gear I am shifting in and out of. The dic buttons on my steering wheel do not light up, cannot tell if I have a malfunction when driving during the dark. I did check for a recall on this and saw that there was an older one issued in 2005 and that it closed in 2011. I was not aware of any recalls but none the less I feel that with both components failing and not working properly can cause a potential problem when in operation (driving).
The blower stopped working on my auto temp control and now won't shut off.
Driving 35mph on dry road. 2wd jump out of gear acted like went into neutral I had no drive or any of my gears came to a complete stop with no warning. Went to put in park it grind with loud noise. Only way to get truck to move was to put in 4wd.

While driving or in park the tachometer sticks as does the speedometer. This has lasted from minutes to days. The vehicle appears to run properly, however, I am very leery of my safety and the safety of my children when they are in control of the vehicle.
Plaating on handles is flaking off and is very sharp cutting the fingers some were deep.

I used my factory remote to unlock the truck the igntion sparked twice and then went on fire, for no reason it just started burning the entire steering column and all of what is around it burned up we used a pitcher of water to put the fire out, I contacted gm and was advised there was no recall for this. It can not be common for a car or truck to just ignite unlocking the doors we are grateful that I was not in the truck and just suffered burns to my hands trying to put the fire out if not my entire home would have been in flames.
My dash is breaking at the air bag and above the steering wheel. It started after central Chevrolet made repairs to a fan motor. I carried the truck back to the dealer. They said my warranty would not cover my dash. I had about 9000 miles left on a full coverage policy that central chev. Said covered the complete truck.
Leaking roof glass window seal. Had repaired 2 times still leaking, dealer said it can't be fixed and that there is a catch trim to send water to bottom of door. Concerned about rust around glass frame and water damage.
The chrome coating on my interior door handles peels off and slices my finger. Has happened multiple times. This time was the worst.
I have a 2003 truck that is regularly serviced at gm dealerships and another professional shop. I alternate shops to make sure I am getting the best service and making sure any problems are caught before they are serious. I wash my truck on a regular basis always getting the underbody/chassis washed off. So, the vehicle is taken care of and kept up. The incident above luckily happened when I was backing up my truck to connect to a trailer. The brake lines burst under the driver side leaking oil all over when the brakes were applied lightly. . Glad it didn't happen fully loaded driving through a school zone on a weekday. Since there are several schools and bus stops near me. When attempting to repair professionaly the lines kept developing leaks affecting several lines and different areas. Not once did either of the shops including gm dealership ever tell me there was a problem with my brake lines. If you are supposed to check this as a regular maintenance issue than why don't gm shops do it. There is no excuse why these lines are failing this soon, other than inferior materials being used. It seems gm used inferior steel material in the early 2000s as can be seen by the corrosion that is seen on trucks of this era. I have never seen so much corrosion on vehicles of similar age from other years. The scarey part is these trucks usually have several tons of weight behind them, let alone the trucks own weight of over 3 tons. Everyday these vehicles are on our highways and streets driving through residential and school zones. When you lose brakes you are not going to regain control until something stops it and the tons on back of it.
The speedometer sticks at a speed and will drop to the 6 o'clock position. This is a know issue among owners but gm nor the dealerships are willing to acknowledge or fix it. This is the second issue with my vehicle that gm is not willing to fix or take responsibility. I will never purchase another gm vehicle again.
4x4 transmission began locking and slipping. Developed a distinctive "clunking" sound when shifting between gears. Now most noticeable between second and third. Additional grinding sound occurs when driving. Noticeable at all speeds.
All of a sudden while driving one day the service air bag light came on and stayed on. I was told that the air bag could deploy at any time and not work if we where in a crash. I called gm about the issue after looking on line and realising my truck was not the only one experiencing this issue and was told they would not pay to fix it as there is no recall. The truck was never in an accident and has lower mileage then allowed. This is definitely and issue. It is supposedly a module under the front seat or wherever it is located, as some trucks it is different places. They should be required to pay for this issue.
Galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metal (aluminum and steel) components in the manufacturer's installed bed cover system is causing the latching mechanisms for the bed cover to disintegrate and cease to function as designed. The bed cover panels can no longer be reliably latched and are subject to breaking free from the vehicle during transit. A bed cover panel that departs the vehicle due to latch failure would be a substantial roadway hazard. There is no way isolate the dissimilar metals to stop the corrosion.

I was driving approximately 15 to 20 mph down a hill that was curvy and all of a sudden my truck completely shuts off as I was driving down the hill and almost went into a ditch because the truck just shut off while in drive and luckily I was quick enough to put it in neutral so I could steer it away from the ditch and I turned the ignition over and luckily it turned on while in neutral otherwise I would of crashed into the ditch. Then it shut off again about 30 seconds after and luckily I was able to put it in neutral again so I could steer and coast down the hill because it wouldn't start up the second time when it all shut off. I was stranded at the bottom of the hill near a light so I tried to start it again and it would keep trying to turn over but wouldn't start again. I was stranded in the middle of the road and had to call aaa to tow my Avalanche to my house. This could of killed me if I wasn't quick enough to figure out to put it in neutral to be able to steer. There should be a recall on whatever made this happen and I still don't know what is wrong with it because it happened late last night and I was looking for recalls and it doesn't show anything on this.
The wire harness under dashboard was rubbing against the emergency brake mechanism and shorted out catching fire. I was lucky to have been stopped and able to put the fire out within seconds resulting in very minimal damage but had I been on the highway the result would have been very different. However it did short out other electronics inside the vehicle such as the rearview mirror putting me out hundreds if not thousands of dollars to repair.
While driving down the road with the a/c on suddenly the drivers side starts blowing hot air while the passenger side is still blowing cold air. If I put the Avalanche into neutral turn off the engine and re start the engine it will suddenly start blowing cold air again - it is happening quite a bit more frequently and I have read on some Avalanche forums others have had this issue as well. When its 100+ degrees outside the air needs to work the heater I can do without during this time.
The spare tire secondary latch was stuck in the hoist body not allowing the spare tire to be released. The dealer, sierra Chevrolet, monrovia, CA stated that the hoist mechanism was stripped, not allowing the tire to be lowered. I had seen the cable let down but the tire not come down at costco, azusa, CA where they were replacing my tires, so I know the mechanism was not stripped. My complain is both against the dealer for falsely representing a problem and causing me a cost of over $250 and for the design of the hoist which was flawed.
Service trailer brake system.
I put the truck in park and was unable to put it back into gear.

When light comes on engine runs rough and shifts hard. When light goes off it runs fine.
The engine will die at any time with out warning. This happens fairly often. Sometimes after trying to restart it will restart with no delay and other times it will take a few minutes. Then it will run normally for no specific amount of time. Then it will die again. Incidences may occur hundreds of miles in between. The dealer says they don't know why it would do this and it would be very difficult to diagnose the problem because it happens spontaneously and it usually restarts quickly. This is very dangerous and turning the vehicle to get off the road when the engine dies is very hard to do.
Inside doer handle chrome is peeling off leaving a very sharp edge. Gm recalled this item but will not fix mine because of the mileage on my vehicle. There have been 2 injuries related to this problem.
