Chevrolet Avalanche owners have reported 3 problems related to gasoline engine (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2002 chevy Avalanche 2500. Engine cut out at 75 mph! has happened more than once! I lost my brakes due to no power assist and almost had to drive off the road. . . Which would've been a real bad seen. Supposedly this is a well known problem with a fault crank position sensor.

The engine appears to be consuming oil. At this point, engine loses roughly 1 quart of oil every 2,000 miles. Gm has issued a service bulletin to dealers stating that this is within acceptable limits. This is somewhat unsettling as engine could lose too much oil which would of course lead to severe damage. Dealer is currently running a consumption test.
Consumer states engine blew up, and manufacturer is not willing to take responsibility and will not provide a reason.
