The dashboard on my Avalanche has developed a fairly significant crack right next to the passenger side airbag. The crack starts from towards the windshield side and leads up to and terminates at the crevice where the airbag is located. This in my opinion jeopardizes the integrity of the airbag. The concerns are that (a) the airbag may not deploy in the intended direction (b) may get ruptured due to making contact with the sharp edges of the crack or (c) may deploy unintentionally due to the weakness of the material holding it in place. This is a safety issue and gm needs to address it as such.
The spare tire release is impossible to operate unless there are two people around. After 7 years of corrosion and rust the release mechanism wont release the tire. This is hazardous should you have a flat at 3am on the side of the highway.

The interior door handles on my 2007 chevy Avalanche ltz have peeled and become razor sharp. Opening the door under normal characteristics has caused a slice, or paper cut type of wound to my hand.
When we purchased a 2002 chv Avalanche, it was equipped with onstar. When everything went digital, we were told by the dealer that they did not have a conv kit for our model. Since we travel, what optons d we have of getting onstar to replace our equipment. We have everythin except the phone, I guess.

2002-2009 Chevrolet Avalanche rear removable window (frame). Lower l/h side (passenger side). Plastic frame subject to splitting in time with heat and separates and pulls away exposing tempered glass. Tempered glass is now in contact with supporting frame and vulnerable to shattering from road vibration or worse, collision, thus injuring passenger(s) including infants in rear seat . My 2003 Avalanche frame began cracking early 2007 and is now has a 1 1/2 inch gap. I along with several thousand owners (research on internet), have brought this matter of defective materials to gm and Chevrolets attention only to be told "sorry it's not covered". I am very disappointed and rather angry that gm would not offer to repair or even replace these obviously defective window frame assemblys. According to my research with other owners up to 2009 model year, this defect still exists and owners that were fortunate to have theirs replaced if still under warranty have reported that the replacement has started cracking just the same! this is proof that gm has done absolutely nothing to improve/replace inferior materials that made this frame.

My 2007 Avalanche demonstrates a popping and creaking noise from the front end while in 4 wheel drive and turning a sharp corner. This noise is accompanied by a felt binding in the steering wheel and a feeling of a loss of power.
Rear window frame cracked right in the middle of the lower portion.
Rear window frame plastic is cracking, there is a 3/8 gap that has form making the window unstable and leaking both air and water. The truck is out of warranty.
Rear window frame cracked like many others, factory defect should be replaced even if the factory warranty has expired.
Popping noise when turning coming from under cab at drivers feet and passengers feet. Transmission cross member bolt holes in frame have stretched horizontally and allow crossmember to shift side to side. Also front body mounts pop when turning causing stress on front mount bolts. ** Chevrolet said this is normal and the only patch they have for the popping at the transmission mount is to put washers both sides and the same patch for the body mounts. ** note pictures are available of the stretched out holes.
: the contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, there was a quiver in the 2006 Chevrolet kodiak, then the receiver fell off. The vehicle was slowed down, which resulted in the trailer striking the truck. A police report was filed on the scene. The police officer noted that there was no penetration in the welding. The manufacturer collected the vehicle for repair.

(1) normal driving use - with limited usage of mid gate. (2) while raining water enters the cab through the mid gate, causing the carpet and matting to become soaked with water to the point that water pools on top of the carpet. This more than likely will result in the immediate rusting of the floor and possible growing of mold in the constantly wet carpet and matting. (3)dealership has replaced and seals on several location was well as added additional silicone, although no attempt at repair have been successful in slowing down or stopping the water.
The plastic cladding on my 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche turned from its original black to a chalky color with streaking. This was not covered under the warranty, according to the dealership. The truck was exposed to normal environmental conditions in alabama and tennessee.
Removed mid-gate glass on 2002 Avalanche to clean and noticed that plastic around mid-gate was separated from itself. Window had never been out before.
Water leak discovered again for the fifth time. Dealer has replaced carpet and pad on previous repairs and new seals were installed. Was dry for about 6 months. Carpet under back seat is soaking wet again. I am extremely tired of this malfunction in design, causing such issues. The bed stays mostly dry, and honestly I never expected the bed to be dry 100% of the time. However the interior of the truck should not be wet under any circumstances. Dealer has explained how the keep the drain channels clear and it does not help at all.
The rear passenger step used for assistance near the bumper broke unexpectedly, causing injury to the driver. Manufacturer was contacted by owner.
Water leaking into bed and passenger compartment. Water leaked for 6 months, went to dealer. Dealer discovered leak due to carpert being saturated with water under back seat and side rails at the b-pillar. Dealer replaced carpet and pad and supposedly fixed leak due to bad seal. 1 week after receiving truck from the dealer we discovered the new carpet saturated with water under back seat and side rails and now the front driver side carpet. Preparing to return truck to dealer since this was discovered on Saturday. Truck has 35000 miles.
A fluttering noise from the lower drivers side windshield support pillar area at appx. 50+ mph or when driving against a strong wind. The noise sounds like it is coming from the engine compartment and resonates thru the pillars plastic cover. .
Water leaking into the passenger compartment, causeing the carpet to get drenched, vehicle is red in color.
The rear window was reflective as if it was a mirror. When headlights were on the back window, it reflected forward into the consumer's view. This happened not only when backing out but also when driving. The window surface was very reflective. This was evident in day or night. Had not contacted dealer/ manufacturer.
Water has leaked inside the passenger compartment since purchased. The dealer has attempted to repair the problem for over a year. The manufacturers legal department recently advised the consumer that they will make no further repair attempts and that the leak is deemed reasonable/acceptable.
Front windshield make a fluttering noise at speeds greater then 55 mph. Took motor vehicle to dealer 8 months ago they replaced the molding and they were fine to about a month ago. Now they say they don't have a place to road test it that they can do 55 mph.
Consumer states his midgate is leaking (water is coming in). Consumer has taken this truck 4 times for the same thing. He said this time will be the fifth time, and is asking Chevrolet to take the truck back for possible buy back. Nlm.
Bed of truck is leaking everything gets wet. It is also leaking into the cab of truck> this was a concern when I purchased it and was assured there would not ever be a problem. Have had it to dealer here 2 times and still leaking. Have whooping sound from sun roof in open position, if I hold up on it, it stops. This I was told could not be fixed. Springs are just too weak.
