Car stalled unexpectedly on freeway exit for no apparent reason with loss of power steering and all functions. Had to coast to a stop and luckily no other cars were behind us. Additionally, car fuel tank valve does not stop gas when fueling and causes gas to surge out of tank when fueled and onto vehicle. Reported this problem to Dodge and they said this VIN no. Wasn't covered by recall.

Electronic door locks have failed on three of the 4 doors on this truck. Check engine light on due to code p0452, which is fuel tank pressure sensor defective. I called the dealership and they said it was not covered under the warranty and it would cost around $500 to repair. Spoke with my brother-in-law today who has a 2002 Avalanche and he had the same problem with fuel sensor and his repair was covered under the warranty. The door handle of my vehicle is plated in chrome. This chrome is now coming undone, and is razor sharp.

Consumer was told that the 2003 Avalanche was not a standard tank and that the fuel leakage issues were not their responsibility. The consumer was told the gas tank had a manufacturers defect that caused it to be too thin around one of the seals. The tank was so thin, that it could be pressed as if it was soft rubber. The soft area had become so weak, that gas was leaking from the vehicle.

2003 chevy Avalanche fuel tank began emitting a gas smell when the vehicle was more than half full. Over time small puddles of gas could be seen under the vehicle when it was stopped. The mechanic found that the tank had a manufacturer's defect, which caused it to be too thin around one of the seals. The tank was so thin in that area, that one could physically press it down like soft rubber. The soft area had been steadily weakening the seal until it finally failed causing gas to leak out of it.
