Somewhere in between the 81,100 - 81,300 miles mark my vehicle has received the check engine light p2135 code, for throttle/pedal sensor/switch a / b voltage correlation. At the time of receiving the code I did not notice anything irregular until I researched the problem. One of the symptoms being, revving of the engine when gas pedal is not pressed. That's when I realized my car had been doing that just recently on start up before receiving the code. Finally after about a month, driving very minimally maybe 10 shorts trips or less, the car stalled out after approximately 0. 1 miles of below 15mph driving. I got out and checked under the hood and I didnt see anything wrong so I began to push the car back home. After I realized it would take some maneuvering I decided to try starting the car backup and it did so I quickly turned it around and drove it back home. Stalling of the engine is also a symptom of the p2135 code. Since than out of necessity I've driven the car twice for 13 mile trips without stalling out but the check engine light has not gone away. The engine still revs on its on start up until finally settling into consistency. After trying to figure out what exactly needs replacing online, it appears evident to me that a large amount chevy Aveos no matter the year or specific model, encounter this problem. It's just a matter of how many owners talked about the problem online and reported it. Those who have taken it online fixed the problem by cleaning the throttle body, which only lasted for so long and could result in damage or getting a whole new throttle body assembly with a new throttle position sensor attached.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo. While driving 35 mph, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the thermostat failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the thermostat was replaced three times; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

I was driving on the highway on my way home from 3 hours away, and I was about an hour and 30 min from home. I stopped at mcdonald s to feed the 3 kids, I was there for 35 min with the car off. Not even 10 min later, back on the highway, the car sort of spit and/or sputtered. I thought maybe I had gotten some bad gas because it only did it about 3 times and it was ok, there were no lights on indicating anything was wrong. Just a couple minutes later it did it spit and/or sputtered 2 more times, still no light indicators had come on and I looked down at the gauges I had 6/8ths tank of gas, almost full. The engine temp was reading hot though, but no lights were on, suddenly we were going up a slight incline but the car would not go faster, in-fact it was actually slowing down and it would no longer switch to a higher gear. As soon as the highway leveled off, I put the car in neutral to give the engine a brake until we reached the next gas station, but as soon as it hit neutral the car shut off and was coasting. I had to pull over as quick as I could. When someone finally stopped to help, we found a tiny hole in a hose, we cut the hose, readjusted it but it still wouldn't start, after 3 jumps it still wouldn't start. We were stranded for over 4 hours, and the battery finally completely died out as our ride had just gotten there. There was absolutely no warning for the break down, not even a check engine light had came on. Because of this me 3 kids all 5 years old and under, and my aunt who is deathly afraid of semi's were stranded on the side of a highway for over 4 hours!.
The mileage and speed are approximate. I was backing out of my ice and snow covered driveway in February 2015. There is a small dip where my driveway meets the street so I accelerated so as not to get my tires stuck in the icy dip. As I was backing my car into the street, and my car was in the lane of traffic the car shut off. I was unable to restart the car. My neighbor, and another gentleman who stopped to help, pushed my car back into my driveway. I attempted to start the car several times after the incident. The car never again started. I borrowed a vehicle until I had enough money to have the car towed to a mechanic for repairs. A mechanic looked at my vehicle and told me on may 11, 2015 that the car needs a new engine, the price of which is $4,823. 00. The mechanic further told me that the aftermarket/remanufactured engines company they deal with does not have an engine for this make and model car because this engine has so many problems that the company will not touch it. I believe that the oem engine has serious defects that have been overlooked due to the lack of reporting and lack of serious injury associated with the defect/failure. My car has shut off on me on three different days within an approximate six month period. I had a mechanic look at the car to figure out why it was shutting off on me in traffic and there was no indicator of any issue. My check engine light never came on, even after the recent engine failure. Please investigate this engine.

While accelerating from a stop at a traffic light I reached approx 20mph. At this point, the throttle ceased to respond. I had to coast to the side of road. I put the car in park and let it idle. Even in park, the throttle was unresponsive for a while. Finally I was able to give it some gas and it idled up to 2200 rpm and stayed there. It wouldn't back down. I couldn't get the car out of park. After several minutes, I turned the car off, waited a while, turned it back on and it was like nothing happened. Check engine light is on. This same thing happened the following afternoon after having let the car warm up and after having accelerated to 45mph with no issue. I pulled over and put the car in neutral that time. Car has been maintained well, not sure what's going on.

I was driving the vehicle home from work and while slowing down at a stop light, the vehicle started to shake and the check engine light came on. After that I went to accelerate when the light changed and the car would not go above 2 mph, even with the accelerator all the way to the floor. I brought it back to the dealer for the third time since I bought it 7 months ago and they are working on it now. They said it was the part that allows fuel into the engine.

To "echo" this complaint: upon approaching a red light, I began slowing down and immediately the car started sputtering and once at a complete stop, the car rapidly vibrated for 5 seconds and then completely shut down. I waited a few seconds to try and restart and was able to make it home. This issue has been going on in different severities over the course of the past 7 months, dating back to October 2013. At other times the vehicle will begin decelerating while my foot is on the accelerator. The car will be unresponsive to any attempts to pick up speed for 3-5 seconds then all of sudden kick into gear and drive like normal. This happens at highway speeds and residential neighbor speeds just the same. There's no check engine light. The "almost" identical issue happened to me today (09/15/2014). I was on my way to work when the 2010 Aveo lost all engine power. I made it to a gas station (the car is still there) and called my wife to come get me. Thank god we just purchased a Nissan sentra just 2 days earlier!!!!!!!!.
While waiting in drive-thru for my order, my car began to shudder violently. I was idling at 1 rpm on the meter. Suddenly, my car accelerated itself up to 4 rpm. Had I not had my foot on the brake, I would have rear ended the vehicle in front of me. This persisted throughout the drive-thru and onto the roadway. I tried to accelerate and shift into second gear, but the car lost all power and then would rev up to 35mph without warning. Not once did my check engine light come on. Brought it to the dealer and was informed that my information cluster needed to be replaced and that chevy doesn't cover that part outside of the warranty period. I just paid my car off and the extended warranty just expired. I'm looking at paying $700 and they're not done looking at my car. This is unacceptable. Something needs to be recalled because from what I've read, my car isn't the only one that has experienced this.
I was driving down the highway at 55 mph and the car started to lose acceleration. I pressed on the gas and nothing happened. I started slowing very quickly and I pulled off to the side where eventually the car completely shut down all on its own and the battery light came on on the dash. I turned the ignition to off and restarted the car. I was able to keep going without another incident. The next day on my way home from work the same thing happened again. My check engine light was on at the time for which I just had my fuel cap replaced because it was not locking at all. After a few days my check engine light has gone off. I am seriously concerned about this as this car is my main means of transportation back and forth to work which is an hour drive for me. I just recently purchased this car (within the last 3 weeks) from the Ford dealership in tillamook or and of course they did not report any of these issues.
I have a 2008 Aveo that I purchased from a Chevrolet dealership in russellville, ky. Since the 2nd day I owned it, it has been nothing but problems. Air bag sensors not working, have had this repaired three times. Yesterday the air bag light came on again. My biggest trouble has been with the throttle position sensor. Get a p2135 code that tells you to replace the entire throttle body. I did this ($300 part) did no good. The car has been in the shop for over 7 months in the 15 months I've owned the car. Computer has been "flashed" numerous times. Didn't work. Gm customer care asked me to take the car to and authorized Chevrolet repair shop. I did. After 2 trips there and a total of 6 weeks in the shop, they tell me they think the problem is with the ecm engine control module. This part has an 8 year, 80,000 mile warranty. I bought the car with 76,000 mile on it. The problem has been documented by the chevy dealership I purchased the car from for many thousands of miles prior to me purchasing the car. Gm refused to honor the warranty because the car now has 82,000 miles. This is the thing that gets me. When I bought this car, they knew I was buying it for a daughter in college. They knew the car had these problems and sold it to me anyways. I had to purchase another car for my daughter. I am currently driving the Aveo to and from work. The lights that are currently "on" are the check engine light, the air bag light, and I can not allow a passenger in the car because, when they sit in the passenger seat the air bag light that indicates that the passenger side air bag is now engaged does not go off.
Vehicle had open recall on October 13th, 2012; took the vehicle to john elway Chevrolet to fix recall 11290, and was told that the check engine light was illuminating due to an oxygen intake related issue. The open recall, which is was a defective emissions component, is, in addition to the emissions system, covered under the federal emissions control system warranty and federal emissions defect warranty in accordance with the u. S federal clean air act, and backed by Chevrolet's promise to "repair and/or replace defective parts in material and workmanship which cause vehicle to fail to conform with those regulations" (p20, 21), and cover "emission related defects in the genuine gm parts listed under the emissions warranty parts list, including related diagnostic costs, parts, and labor" (21). (Chevrolet limited warranty and owner assistance information). The oxygen intake related issue however, was not repaired, and diagnostic costs and repairs for these parts were, according to john elway Chevrolet, at the owners expense. Since October 13th, 2013 I have had several failed attempts to not only abide by the Chevrolet owner's rights and responsibilities, but to maintain the vehicle I had purchased in may of 2012. It is because of Chevrolet's failure to abide by their very own promise to their customers, the binding contract I myself purchased and signed with my vehicle which states in their own words warranty, was broken and as a result my 2009 Chevrolet Aveo was no longer considered a working or legal vehicle. On August 16th, 2013, a case was made with poison control after driving this vehicle, for the last time.
2010 Chevrolet Aveo. Consumer states problem with vehicle not having power several months after the vehicle was purchased, the consumer began experiencing situations where there was absolutely no power. She would be driving down the road, highway or interstate and all of a sudden the vehicle would begin to slow down, and when pressing the accelerator, there was absolutely nothing. She would pull off to the side of the road, turn the vehicle off and back on and it would go again. The dealer performed the po132 bulletin 100604012. The consumer then took the vehicle to firestone, because the check engine light illuminated for the second time and she continued to have no power. The consumer then went to another dealer, where they replaced the 02 sensor. Several months later, she received a recall notice regarding an emissions problem which was performed on may 22, 2012. After the recall was performed, the power issue continued.
My stepdaughter and her friend were traveling cross-country from California to illinois. Car had just been checked by a mechanic prior to trip and said was ok. On I-40, about 40 miles west of albuquerque nm, she realized the car was getting warm, then they saw steam from hood, check engine light came on. She immediately pulled to the side of the road and called me, in illinois. Then she called aaa for towing, and was towed to galles Chevrolet in albuquerque. The next day they diagnosed total engine failure due to overheating; cause of failure likely a broken thermostat housing. I searched for this issue and found many similar complaints in edmunds forum; this certainly seems to be a common problem. In the end the girls were safe, thank god. Not only was this a very expensive incident (~$5000), but it could have been a very serious safety issue, leaving two young college girls stranded in a remote desert location on a hot day, very vulnerable. The next person this happens to might not be so fortunate. I urge you to take action to require gm to recall and fix this issue. Thank you.

On the first incident, when driving at 40 mph started shaking like it wanted to stall and stopped accelerating. The next day when stopped at a light it started shaking and the rpm gauge was going up and down. It didn't happen again until about a month later, which is when I took it in, but the dealership couldn't replicate the problem. It kept happening -- the car would start shaking while driving like it wanted to stall and would slow down. Once while driving it dropped the acceleration to about 20 mph and would not go any faster, then just lost power to the engine. I took it again for one week but they couldn't replicate the problem. I got the car back and it was fine for about two weeks but now is happening regularly. Sometimes it just shakes quickly but something the acceleration completely drops and the car will just stop while I am driving, which is scary. I'll try to accelerate and nothing will happen, then finally it will go again. Sometimes I will stop and then the car will lurch forward. The rpm gauge is always moving up and down. There is no pattern as to when it happens. I've taken the car in two more times and still nothing. They just installed a data recorder and I recorded four instances and gave it back; I'm waiting to hear the results. It's very dangerous, because I will be driving in traffic and my car will just stop, and since I am not braking there is no indication to the car behind me. Also, no lights are coming on (no check engine light, etc. ). I had my oil changed the first time since I was about due but that made no difference.
Check engine light constantly coming on. June, 2011 light kept coming on even after replacement for O2 sensors. July, 2011 thermostat housing goes out without check engine light coming on. Housing replaced and light keeps coming back on again. Alternator went out right after warranty expired. Windshield cracked when temperature dropped quickly outside. Other parts replaced as well.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds or sitting idle in park, the check engine warning light would illuminate sporadically. The vehicle was taken to a dealer yet they were unable to diagnose the failure. This failure would recur on an intermittent basis. The manufacturer was then contacted and they advised her that they were attempting to determine a repair for the known defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
My 2009 Chevrolet has had serious staling or non responsive acceleration for 6 months now. On a regular basis the car will lose power to the engine; when stepping on the accelerator peddle. The car acts like there is no signals from the accelerator peddle to the throttle assembly. There are days when it does nothing at all. There are times when it happens then the engine will just seem to return to normal, then out of the blue the engine will lose power again. There are never any warnings or check engine lights. None “have ever come on. We have taken the car to 3 different Chevrolet dealerships; and to one independent garage; who did have the problem happen once while I was driving with the owner, but the otc genisis device could not identify what was happening, it just recorded the history of the event. None of the Chevrolet dealers could get it to duplicate or find any codes in the 10 days they had the car. The problem seems to be getting worse. I have been taking videos with my htc droid when the car is having its problem (for all the good that will do). It is like keeping a journal. I show the rpm spikes and drops; the sudden deceleration and the “no response when the gas peddle is pushed. The problem has occurred at all speeds, including when on the freeway. We have already spent over $600 on various (so called fixes); including a complete fuel system cleaning (including the throttle body cleaning) none have ever helped. I was told by a Chevrolet dealer it was a bad O2 sensor (but no check engine light had ever came on). O2 sensors always cause a check engine light to come on. I think it may be the entire ecu computer; but no dealer wants to admit that. I was told by the dealer today 01/04/2011; there is nothing more they will do; because we have too much negitive equity. They will not do a buy back. They have washed their hands of the issue. To bad there is no used car lemon law. 4 repair attemps and the problem is even worse.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. In addition, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the O2 sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.
My engine light started coming on, so I took it to my mechanic and they did a diagnostic test on my 2007 chevy Aveo. They found that it had the same problem the toyotas had when recalled. It is the throttle position sensor accelerator position sensor. I was told that if it don't get fixed, either the gas pedal will stick or it could just stop and not go anywhere. I have only had the car almost 1 yr. And it only has 44,000 miles on it.
Went to an appointment, came back and car would not start. Had to have it jumped. A few months later went to a store, came back out car would not start had it jumped again. Had the battery checked and it showed a drain on the battery but couldn't find the cause. After having it jumped the next time the check engine light came on for a brief time then went out. Next the check engine light came on and the car immediately stopped running. Had it jumped again, it would turn over but die again. Finally had to have it towed. Took it to one shop and they couldn't find the problem. Now it is being check at another shop. Since this is the only transportation I have, I have had to cancel appointments and rely on others for over a week. This car has been nothing but a problem since I bought it and I feel that I was sold a lemon. Updated 05/02/12 the consumer was informed the computer needed to be reprogrammed. The consumer was told it was a known problem with the Chevrolet Aveo. Updated 05/04/12.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo. The engine warning light would intermittently illuminate on the instrument control panel. Also the vehicle would shimmy while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a tune-up was performed. After the repair the failure resurfaced so the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. She purchased a fuel cap. The repair did not remedy the failure because the vehicle exhibited a no-start condition. A mechanic stated that the timing chain fractured. No repairs were made. The current mileage was approximately 63,000. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
My step daughter bought a brand new Aveo 2009 is has been in for repairs 13 times for the same problem. It will run fine then will not go over 20mph this has happened several times while she is driving on highway at 65 mph has almost caused her and my young granddaughter to be injured. When she starts the car the clock will reset its self to 7:23 no matter what time it is that is usually the first sign it is getting ready to turn into a death trap. O2 sensor has been replaced car is again in shop they are telling her they can't find any problems but think it could be the O2 senser want 600. 00 to replace. Her check engine light has not come on. Car is no longer under warrenty. We have contacted dealership where she bought it no help from them. Contacted chevy asking them to admit it is a lemon and do the right thing no help from them.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. The check engine light began illuminating on December 6, 2007. The dealer stated that there was a recall; however, it did not apply to her VIN. The contact wants her vehicle included in the recall. The NHTSA campaign id number was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 44,220. Updated 03/25/08.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. While merging onto the highway at an unknown speed, the vehicle shut off. It took approximately five minutes for the vehicle to restart and then it shut off again. There were no warnings prior to the failures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, but they could not diagnose the cause of the failure. During the third visit, the check engine light illuminated and the dealer stated that the oxygen senor was activated and would not cause the vehicle to shut off. The manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 39,000.
: the contact stated the check engine light has been illuminating since purchase. The vehicle has been to the dealership twice for this problem, but the computer displays no codes. The invoice stated the manufacturer is aware of the problem and is currently investigating a possible repair. The recommended repair will be sent to the dealerships when found.
The contact stated his vehicle shut down while driving. Prior to the car shutting down the engine rpm dropped and then increased suddenly. At the same time the check engine light came on. The vehicle has been intermittently losing power since the contact purchased it. This is the third time the vehicle has been in the shop for the same problem. The dealer thinks the problem lies with the pcm, but they were unable to obtain a replacement part from another vehicle.
