My Aveo has had a burning electrical smell in the cab for approximately 2 years. A recall was issued 8 months ago and nothing has been done. Gm states that the remedy not yet available. Since the recall the daytime running lights have stopped working all together and the electrical smell has gotten worse. This car has been plagued by electrical issues and I do believe they are all related. I really don't feel safe driving this car everywhere with my family in it due to the risk of it catching fire. Gm refuses to give me any answers on this except that the remedy is in development. I think 8 months of waiting is long enough. The car also has issues with the airbag, radio, horn, security system, and headlights. All of which run through the same wiring harness.

On the night of 3/13/13 I was driving on a two lane road with my lights on. I was traveling east through an intersection where the cross road only had to stop and I had the right of way. A vehicle traveling south failed to stop at the stop sign. I was unable to sound my horn and had to run off the road to avoid a collision. The horn on the 2011 Aveo is only 1" x 1 1/4 " on each side the center of the steering wheel. They are so small and hard to find, that a person driving must take their eyes off the road to find them during the day time. At night a light must be turned on to find them because they are not illuminated. I feel this is a serious safety issue because of the small size and difficulty to find without loosing sight of the road.

First my clock would go out then my miles would disappear while driving my horn went out and then my radio, when checked out it was not my fuses it was told to me it was my electical system and my car should not be having these issues.
Horn malfunction while vehicle was parked and ignition was off. Had to pull fuse associated with horn/rear-defroster to stop horn from going off.
