About 6 weeks ago smelled something burning. Prior to burning smell, the daytime running lights all inside dash lights and clock lights and gear shift lights went out while car was in motion on a major city street. All lights stayed off for about 20 mins. Daytime running ligts never came back on. Clock lights still goes off an on. Dash lights and gear shift lights came back on once. But have been off a month now. Reported to gm. Recall on daytime running lights fixed free. But they said no recall on wiring of lights. I am not the only owner that has thos problem there are many who have written complaiys on gm. Recall website. I have pictures of burnt fuse connector relay that controls all lights. 10 mins of mechanic checking the part was so hot he couldn't touch it. On 8/09/2016 terry cullen fixed recall. I payed them $100. 00 to check problem about lights they said they needed $400 more dollars for 4 hours of more looking. My family mechanic found problem with in 10 mins. . . . . . Dealer. . All about money! I think they should have saw the problem or even knew it.

Went to change the passenger side front headlamp bulb since it was showing high beams on and was dimmed. Turns out the wiring harness the bulb plugs into was melted. According to the local dealership my VIN has no recalls on it but in doing some research it sounds very familiar to recall #14236.

On a winter morning I went out and started my car to go to work, I got on the road and realized that my dashboard , heating control, and shifter lights did not work. I moved the settings switch and nothing came on. I have checked the fuses. They are fine. I did some research and it seems that many Aveos have had this problem. And the only fix is to rewire the system. Something needs to be done. If I take it to the shop it's going to cost anywhere between 50-100 dollars or more. If its a problem to the consumers then it should be a recall and not just a manufacturing defect. If this is a wiring issue then it could possibly end up causing a fire.
My dashboard light suddenly went out, at the same time the right tailgate light and the front right light went off. I checked online and a number of people having the exact same problem. It is a wiring issue.
The same time the recall for daytime running lights module came my daytime running lights indicator started flashing and my airbag light came on. I took it to dealer to fix daytime running lights module, I also had airbag light check and they said the wiring harness melted and it cost me over $300. 00 to fix. Is this connected to daytime running light module problem? if so I would like my money back! let me know please.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that the head lamps failed. The contact inspected the head lamp bulbs and found that the ground wires were burned due to overheating. The dealer advised that NHTSA campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting) would only repair the drl module and would not replace any additional failure caused by the recall. The contact also wanted to state that the engine valve cover gasket was defective causing the engine fluid to leak. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
S101 splicer pack overheats and burnt wiring under the hood causing tail light to not work.
Air bag light came on and stayed on. Upon inspection at dealership it was suggested that the clock and wiring from the airbag component to the clock be replaced to fix a sensor malfunction issue. Warned that if issue was not fixed, it was possible that the airbag would fail to deploy in the case of an accident.
2006 chevy Aveo I got my daughter this car it seemed to be great when we first got Aveo last year we had to replace the brake switch. There wiring issues air bag lights on and clock comes on and off this year odometer mileage is fading and headlights on no light for mileage. Low fuel and low water does not come on and on the 7/1 and two times on 7/4 her speedometer is not reading right it read 15 miles off from what the car is going faster. The three times getting pulled over and she said the gauge been acting weird then goes back to normal the one cop said I know thats why I dont have one of these cars and still gave her a ticket. So now the car sits until the recall but the best thing ( not ) I have two Aveos my husbands that sit and we get to share between the three of us is my van thats a Dodge. I cant believe wiring heating up by the day time module that will catch fire and it taking this long safety and chevy has nothing on there site for the recall wow.
Air bag light came on and stayed on. , dashboard clock and cd radio also went out. The cevrolet servicing dealer suggested that the service codes reflected a short in wiring and the dashboard has to be removed to check the wire harness for the short. They wanted to charge me $315 , manager continued to state also the sensor modual for the airbag may be defective. Why do they charge for diagnosis when their diagnosis measures cannot find the problem and want to charge another $315 for furthur diagnosis?I with th ive cheched with other Aveo owners and some have the same exact problem. I do believe there is a fault with this car. I do not know if the airbags will deploy if their is an accident with this car.
I have a 2005 chevy Aveo sedan that I drove approx. 5 miles and parked in my lot at approx. 11:30 am. When I returned at approx. 3:30 pm the inside of the vehicle had burned under the center of the dash and melted the dash, clock, radio, center console and wiring. In addition it burnt the carpet by the gas pedal, air vents were melted down into the dash, windows were all smoked and the inside has an odor of melted plastic. I feel that if the windows were not all rolled up the complete car would have burned. I feel this is at the fault of the drl module which there is a recall out for.

I was driving home from picking my kids up from school when my all my gauges stopped working. Then my brake lights and tail lights stopped working and then my car died while I was turning left across a two lane highway. My wife and 3 kids were nearly t boned by a semi. Two days prior I had to have the ignition replaced. I have seen hundreds of complaints about the same problem. I think gm should have a recall before somebody is killed over their faulty wiring.
Several customers have had this same problem with defective wiring inside of the fuse box in which the splice pack overheats and causes wires to melt. This causes the electrical systems to malfunction, brake lights to go out, turn signals to stop working, dash safety indicators to flicker on and off, the radio to stop working, and headlights to stop working. This is an ongoing problem that chevy does not want to address but it has caused a car to stall in the middle of the highway and affects safety of the vehicle passengers, the driver, and the passengers in other vehicles. I feel that the 2004-2008 chevy Aveo is a prime candidate for a recall because of safety issues.
Multiple problems, started with daytime lights going out, clock going out and coming on with correct time, dealer replaced clock and said daytime lights related and should be fixed, it was not. Next all the instrument panel lights went out, repaired by dealer again at my costs. Next the tail lights and brake lights went out. Each time it was the wiring in the fuse box under the hood. All repaired at my expense. The dealer acted like they had no idea of the multitude of electrical problems with the Aveo but I think they've known, just read some of the blogs-this is a very common problem. It's frightening to drive this car just waiting for a fire. From may 2013 to present I continue to have these problems. The daytime lights and now the clock again going out. The whole fuse box needs replaced as far as I'm concerned but the dealership keeps giving me the runaround--- no more chevys or gm for me.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and decelerated rapidly. The failure occurred four times prior to the most recent failure and was repaired. The vehicle was able to be restarted and was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. After diagnosis, the dealer advised the contact that they were unable to diagnose the failure but they would try replacing the wiring harness in the instrument panel cluster. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assitance. The failure mileage was approximately 10,249.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that the headlight lights, the parking lights, and daytime lights failed to illuminate. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnose that the main fuse box and wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
1st incident: was on interstate during rush hour in st. Paul, mn w/ 2 toddlers in the back seat. The car suddenly started bucking and then shut off. I was in the 2nd left lane on 4 lane so I had to coast to the right hand shoulder w/ no power steering and no acceleration almost getting hit by multiple vehicles. Took four hours for tow truck. . 3 weeks for the fuel pump to be manufactured and shipped as the car was brand new w/ less than 3000 miles on it and they didn't have spare parts for it. Also, discovered that the onstar wasn't connected even though I was supposed to receive a free year. It wouldn't even come on. They fixed that at the same time as the fuel pump but then when I got it back I noticed my clock wouldn't keep time and the onstar wasn't showing the free year which never got resolved. The dealer said they wasn't sure what was wrong with the clock but the replaced some fuses, etc. To this day it still doesn't work. 2nd incident which is still ongoing: dash and radio fuses randomly blow, car eats coil packs and spark plugs every 3-4 months. At red lights/extended stops it will start idling roughly and usually will shut off. Car will sometimes not accelerate and other times it will shoot off like a rocket w/ a mild press of gas pedal. Gas mileage is a joke, I'm lucky to get 20/mpg. I have taken this car to 3 chevy dealer mechanics and 2 independents and no one can tell me what is wrong other than 'electrical' saying I could replace the computer and wiring harness but that is not a guaranteed fix and at almost $2500 not worth it at this point. I will just be so glad to have this thing paid off in a few months (bought it brand new w/ 43 miles on it) so I can sell or trade it in though every dealer I've approached about trading it in tells me they do not accept them b/c of 'known' problems in the auto community. 2 wrecks, airbags never deployed, front & rear.
I have a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo that has given me numerous problems. A little over a year ago I noticed I could not shift my car out of park I have to use a screwdriver to shift my gear out of park. Soon after I noticed my brake lights stopped working. I brought a box of fuses but this only fixed the problem for less than a week. Every time I put a new fuse in the brake lights went back out in a day or two. One day while I was on the freeway my car just suddenly stopped without any warning. I took the car to the dealer it was still under the power train warranty. It was a electrical problem causing all of these problems and cost over $2,000 to fix. A year later the problems started again I can't move my gear without using a screw driver, my brake lights and headlights are out. If I slam the hood of my car one headlight will come on which shows that something is wrong with the wiring. The engine light and hold mode light flashes constantly. I feel this car is dangerous because there are no brake lights which can easily cause a accident. I was pulled over by the police because of no brake lights a $125 ticket. I am in a bind because I really need my car for work but I do not have $2,000 (no longer under warranty) to fix this car only to have the same problem happen again months from now. Also, I have noticed a strong gas smell from the car that has me concerned. I have read so many internet post from other people complaining about the same problems. This car seriously need to be recalled because it is endangering people lives.
Consumer letter concerning engine service light illuminated. The engine light illuminated due to a fuel gauge error the first time. When the engine light illuminated again, the dealer explained that the wiring harness needed to be relocated and not repaired.
