My 2009 Chevrolet Aveo was t-boned by a driver going 50-55 mph, and we were traveling 25 mph (according to police report). The Aveo was hit on the front passenger side tire / front panel / passenger side of front bumper. The driver's side air bag deployed, but the passenger side air bag did not. It should have deployed. I had noticed a few months before the accident that the "passenger side air bag is off" light would go on and off while my husband was sitting in the passenger seat. The light eventually stayed on even when he was sitting in the seat. I had been meaning to take the car in to the chevy dealer to have it looked at since it was still under warranty. Also, I noticed on this website that there is only one recall on this car. I received a recall notice directly from chevy about the spark plugs not sitting correctly in the boots, or something like that, and had them replaced for free from the dealer. I was never notified by chevy of the recall notice on this website about the abs system, but my car didn't have abs. (not sure if it will post my VIN, but if it does, just an fyi, this car was deemed a total loss/beyond repair).

We broad sided a car that pulled out in front of us at about 40mph, the driver side airbag deployed but the passenger side did not. Luckily the seat belt saved me from going through the windshield, however had the airbag deployed like it was suppose to I wouldn't be on temporary disability and in the most pain I have ever experienced in my life. Major chest contusions, massive bruising across the chest and abdomen for weeks, strained back and neck and therapy for weeks are just a part of what I got to experience. Not to mention a lovely trip to the er because I had trouble breathing at the time of the accident.

Lost control while braking/steering on black ice after a curve to avoid wrecked vehicles and motorists in lanes. Car spun 180 and rolled 360 off road (rolled over the left side of the vehicle, shattering the left rear pass window, coming to rest on wheels). Believe the Aveo5 svm should come standard with side airbags. No airbags deployed. Was wearing seatbelt, shaken but able to exit vehicle safely. No passengers. Vehicle has a history of sir light coming on several times and had been serviced by 2 separate Chevrolet/gm goodwrench dealerships multiple times to replace airbag control module, wire harness, and service connectors. Sir light was not on at the time of incident. Exact vehicle speed at time of rollover is unknown, 25 mph is a rough guess of speed after braking.

Driving down the interstate the driver side air bag deployed causing the driver to lose control and hit the center wall. Driver sustained multiple injuries including 5 broken ribs and a broken back in 7 places. Gm says if I cannot prove the air bag went off (video of the incident) then they have no reason to believe the center was was not hit first causing the air bags to deploy, therefore functioning properly.

My daughter was in a roll over accident, there was damage on both sides of the car and none of the air bags deployed. When we purchased this car the sales guy went on and on about all the safety features including side air bags and none of them worked!.

While at work at larson automotive, as a sales manager, in baraboo wisconsin I went to move a 2008 chevy Aveo. This vehicle was brand new. I started the car and shifted from reverse to first gear (manual transmission) and the side air bag exploded. I did not purchase vehicle. The result of the noise caused a significant loss of hearing in my right ear, my right side of my face went num and tingling. As of today my hearing is still not fully functional. I am scheduled for a recheck next Monday on November 26, 2007.

My mother was killed in a 1 car accident outside tallahassee, FL on i10 on 8 may 2007. She went into the median and hit trees head-on. The posted speed limit is 70 mph and the fhp on the scene indicated she applied her brakes from the time she left the pavement until she hit the trees. She died 6 days later of a broken neck and multiple internal injuries. She was driving a 6 week old 2007 chev Aveo with front and side air bags. None of these air bags deployed. I truly believe she would have surviived this accident if the front air bags had deployed. From everything I have read, this is the perfect scenario for front air bag deployment. Are there similair complaints against gm for the 2007 chev Aveo?.

Updated 10/25/2006 - the air bag locked in the off mode although an adult passenger (155 lbs) was in the passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and tested. The dealer stated that their test indicated there was nothing wrong with the system. The dealer claimed that the passenger was sitting in the seat incorrectly.

A check was performed on 13 August 2005 and the only repair was to reset the signal from scan tool. The signal remain on continuously being a dangerous situation, service shop refused initially to repair the faulty srs initiating the corrective actions were delayed for 4 (four) months so on 07 December 2005 were replaced on my vehicle both side airbags module and the sdm (sensing diagnostic module). 2. At 10000 km oil spot appear on top of the engine (engine distribution cover) and even reported to service shop mechanics no action was taken in order to investigate and to correct the failure till 40603 km when the spot extended and contaminate with lubricant timing belt area and following parts had to be replaced: ã‚â· hose, breather; ã‚â· timing belt ã‚â· timing belt expander ã‚â· oil seal ring 3. Brake, power steering, coolant and clutch fluids and spark plugs were replaced later than normal maintenance schedule, and only after I submitted a written complain to the service shop manager. It supposed to be replaced at 30 000 km and it were replaced at 38070 km. This also it happened with the fuel filter, which had to be replaced at 45000 km, and it was replaced at 49200 km. 4. It was reported by the owner that ac is out of service at 49200 km (evap condenser found with a large crack and refrigerant fluid lost completely). According to maintenance schedule at 45000 km service shop had to inspect evap condenser from the conditioning system and the pipelines. Ac periodical maintenance never had been performed to the vehicle as it was stated in the technical specifications. 5. Engine oil was not the respecting api specifications so instead 5w 30 synthetic oil was used 10w 40 mineral oil. It took almost 18 months and 40603 km to convince them to use the proper oil for the engine. This thing affected engine life.
