4 Suspension problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

Had an accident when someone ran into me. Airbags did not deploy. Suspension bars had to be replaced. Also have a crack in the vacuum hose. I was driving apprx 25-30 miles. The problems had nothing to do with the accident. . My question is that I should not have to replace the suspension bars this soon. Now the drums have to be replaced (why?) I only have 60,000 miles on the car but these problems started long before this. Is this car on the recall list? )(hattie. Hicks@hotmail. Com).

6 Suspension problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 09/04/2015

The driver side head lamp is not working properly. The wire lighting harness kept shorting out, I had it repaired at a shop. It later melted and the light went out. I tried to order another on, but the dealership only sells the whole kit not just the light bulb itself. I am having to pay over $300 for a new kit when all I needed was a bulb and the harness. This is insane, especially when there have been recalls for this very same problem. I also had an electrical problem where my car battery would drain, and lose power.

9 Suspension problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

I hear loud bangs coming from the rear section of the vehicle and took it to a local mechanic. He informed me that the axle housing bushings were worn causing movement side to side in the housing. When he called a dealer to purchase bushings the parts person said he could not sell the bushings but had to sell the complete housing because there were problems with the parts and it was redesigned. If they knew about a design flaw why did they not issue a recall for the parts. Estimated cost for new rear axle is $1,000. 00 plus labor verses replacing bushing for around $70. 00 plus labor.

11 Suspension problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 03/28/2014

I just bought this 2005 chevy Aveo 2 wks ago when the alternator went out of my car and I was having surgery the next day then would need a car for work 2 days later, so I had no time to properly look for a car. I just came off the exit of a 4 lane highway 1. 5hrs away from home. As I was slowing to stop there was a bunch of white smoke (turned out to be steam) billowing out from under the hood and the car engine stopped running. A man helped push the car off the road and they looked under the hood and discovered the thermostat housing split apart. It's plastic! the housing was clearly defective since it was sheared in half as if cut with large knife. How stupid! he gave my husband a ride to the nearest napa auto parts where the ordered from another dealer. We had to wait 1. 5hr and the owner helped replace it. The new one was metal! put antifreeze in and tried to start the car several times and it won't start. Had to have the car towed. I got on the computer for help diagnosing the problem and discover a million complaints on edmunds. Com, automotive forums, etc. That gm has known about this and other problems with this car for years such as plastic pully, timing belt breaks that completely kills the engine. That's where I found this site. This car is a lemon and should be recalled!!! heck on this site there are complaints from 2011 and still no recalls! from what I learned reading all the complaints just about everything in this car is junk. I am not going to put another penny into this car. It's at the mileage range to replace the timing belt, the plastic pully, and the water pump, not to mention the electrical stuff. It would've been cheaper to rent a car for the 2wks. Struts busted. I'm gonna take the loss and never buy chevy again! please help us owners get chevy to make this right. They and you have known the many problems a long time! please do the right thing!.

15 Suspension problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 04/09/2013

Took Aveo to certified chevy dealer as instructed by gm customer service to have front suspension problem diagnosed. While there, told my tires were worn out at less than 20000 miles. Left front strut and bearing replaced for creaking front end. On drive back to my home, with 500. 00 worth of new tires, the creaking is still there. The tires will undoubtedly wear out again. This is a continuing problem with front suspension that gm will not take responsibility for. Calling customer service again today. I had tried to get problem fixed while under warranty and was told they couldn't find a problem. Now they seem to be able to. What do I do with this car that can't be fixed?.

16 Suspension problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

2006 chevy Aveo - issue rear axle beam bushings failed at 65,000 miles. The failure allows the rear axle to have up to an inch of travel left to right. As you go down the road you can feel the back of the car shifting as you hit bumps in the road or simply by taking an exit ramp. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the axel at half price. Now 2 years later I am having the same issue and have been told I have to replace the axle for the second time. I am working with gm customer service. . I read on line this is a problem for most Aveo owners. These are not old cars and this safety issue failure should be addressed by gm.

17 Suspension problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

I purchased a used 2008 chevy Aveo in June 2011. Nearly one year later I started having issues with it. June 2012 - valve cover gasket was cracked and caused smoking after an oil change. Repaired at dealership. Sept. 9, 2013 - sputtering and stalling. Was told it was due to a hold in the exhaust pipe. Replaced at dealership. Sept. 16, 2013 - still experiencing power issues. Was told I needed new spark plugs and wires. Replaced at dealership. Nov. 7, 2013 - engine light came on. Was told it was a faulty cam sensor. Replaced at dealership. Jan. 23, 2014 - engine light came on. Was told the oxygen sensor had failed. Replaced at dealership. April 20, 2014 - tpms light finally went off after being on for 3 months. Air conditioner stopped working the same day. Was told it was an electrical issue (ac clutch). During the same visit an inspection found the right front top bushing worn, left lower bushing worn, and rear cross member bushing broken. I sent a letter to Chevrolet, expressing my disappointment in the quality of the Aveo. My other chevy vehicles had been great, but this Aveo fell short. After speaking to someone in customer service, who—in response to my statement "individuals who purchase these kinds of economy cars are typically on a budget and can't afford the repairs the Aveo has needed due to its poor quality"—simply told me that it was not her fault that I couldn't afford a better car. I will never buy another chevy again.

19 Suspension problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 03/08/2012

In spring,2012, Aveo front end started loud creaking noise when turning, going over bumps. Took to certified chevy dealer in June to have problem taken care of(under warranty),they said they could find nothing wrong. Warranty ran out in January,2013. Noise got much worse. Called gm who said take it to dealer for inspection, which I would have to pay for. Took on April 5,2013. Struts and bearing need to be replaced, car has less than 20,000 miles on it. I now know this problem is recurring, and seemingly can't be permanently fixed,a design flaw that gm refuses to acknowledge. I am not a single complainant concerning this expensive malfunction.

28 Suspension problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 12/01/2007

I have a 2007 chevy Aveo (only had it for six months) that pulls to the left whenever I let go of the wheel. Not just a slight pull but a serious pull. The service people told me that when they asked their main tech's they were told that's just the nature of smaller cars. Only thing they said to do was to change the tires from one side to another, that could fix it. Well it didn't. The service manager said they can do what's called an adjustment misalignment, won't that cause trouble with the other parts of the car? I have had smaller cars than this and they never did pull to one side or the other. Why does this one act different, and not since I bought it but it just started? I am not happy about the problem and the company not doing anything to correct it.
