Two problems related to noises during shifting have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving and coming to complete stop automatic transmission doesn't shift properly from the first to the second gear, won't shift, and makes loud noise. Dealer notified.
Transmission fluid would overflow and spray on back window. On 8/7-11 gm paid 80% I had to pay 20%-since I was over by 2,000 miles. Exact same thing happened on 8/14, they had my Blazer for almost 3 wks at no cost to me. They said they rebuilt the transmission. Same thing happened on 9/2/00 but now it has no reverse, made loud noise, they towed it-I would not drive it back this time. I was getting off the pike, applied brakes and the transmission down shifted and I went flying forward. . Thank go no other cars around and I was wearing my seat belt. The first repair I was without my Blazer for about a week, 2nd repair it was almost 3 weeks. . Have no idea how long this one will take. Prior to this I loved my Blazer. I don't feel at 38,000 you should have transmission problems. I did inform the service dept. When I first bought the Blazer it had a rusted dip stick and they replaced it. I think that is all they did, feel they should have drained the fluid, just in case rust chips or corosion fell into the fluid. They also put new brakes on 2 months ago and I keep telling them they aren't working properly. The abs brakes you press pedal and it goes almost to the flow, there is no way they would stop in an emergency on time. Based on this I am not pleased with the gm parts and the service deptartment!!!!!.
