Automatic Transmission Cooler problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

Two problems related to automatic transmission cooler have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2004

While driving automatic transmission fluid dripped to the muffler and vehicle caught on fire. Vehicle was totaled.

2 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2004

Oil cooler lines were rubbing on wiring harness in left front wheel well. The rubbing caused a hole in the oil lines resulting in loss of oil pressure and oil. After getting this fixed I was told this was a common problem with this model. After inspecting the repairs I noticed a new assembly seperating the lines which will correct the problem. I am extremley dissatisfied that I had to cover the repairs, I personally feel that this is a safety defect. If it would have blown out at highway speed it would have covered the driver side tires with oil and make the vehicle uncontollable.
