Chevrolet Blazer owners have reported 40 problems related to other fuel system (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chevrolet Blazer based on all problems reported for the Blazer.
The vehicle accelerated without input and the brakes failed to respond. I am notifying you that this vehicle is a life-threatening safety risk and should not be rented again until a master technician clears the electronic throttle control and breaking system. This condition presents a serious safety risk and could lead to a car crash or injury. Additionally, the vehicles, climate control system behaved erratically, alternating between extremely hot and extremely cold air without adjustment. This may indicate a broader electronic or system malfunction affecting vehicle city.

I received a check engine light which I took to bell tire for diagnosis. Here is there diagnosis comments: the p01f0 code on a 2020 chevy Blazer means the engine coolant temperature is below the normal operating range, often due to a stuck-open thermostat (or both thermostats in models with dual units), a faulty engine coolant temperature (ect) sensor, or low coolant, leading to poor fuel economy and potential wear; fixing it usually involves replacing the thermostat(s) or sensor after checking coolant levels and wiring. After that I took the vehicle to gm dealership. Even though this is a know issue with many vehicles from same year, I was told that my VIN is not part of recall and dealership ended up charging me 600+ to fix the issue. I am reaching out to seek help as I had exact same problem but gm is not covering the repairs because my VIN is not in the recall. How is that possible?.

Driving the vehicle when all of a sudden the engine shut off. All electrical systems continued to function. Luckily this occurred at low speed in a parking lot but had it happened at high speed on the freeway it could have been a huge safety risk. The vehicle was towed to a nearby automotive shop that diagnosed it as a bad fuel pump controller. There is an open gm recall that includes the 2021 chevy Blazer (and a suite of other gm vehicles), but not the 2022 chevy Blazer. I am concerned that the gm recall does not fully cover all of the vehicles that could be impacted by this issue. Car was running fine yesterday, today does not want to start. Thought it was the battery, bought anew battery. Still wouldn't start. Rest of cat is getting great power. Code reader is reading its a fuel pump control moduler which just so happens to be in an open recall for my exact year of vehicle yet my VIN number does not pop up on the GMC website under active recall. I have a 2021 chevy Blazer .

I was driving at approx 45 mph when my car lost all ability to accelerate and shut down in the street. Flashing check engine light and esc warning on the screen. It would try to start but wouldn't. I had it towed to a mechanic who diagnosed and informed me that it is the fuel pump power control module. Upon review he I formed me that there was a recall posted in September 2025 for 2021 Blazer on this exact issue. My car has now been unusable for a week as my mechanic recommends it be repaired via recall at dealership.
This is the 2nd time I have been left stranded unable to charge my vehicle due to the charge door malfuction on the vehicle. This is a safty issue due to the fact that if you are unable to charge the vehicle, you can get starnded somewhere unsafe putting yourself and family at risk. This charge door failure has happened once within 8 months after purchasing the vehicle, the charge door was replaced under warranty back a year ago. Now its has started to bind up and not open leaving me unable to charge my vehicle. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership and they had to special order the part. Currenty I have not been able to charge my vhecile properly. I have to forcefully open the charge door causing more damage, until the part is replaced. Please look into this issue, I have contacted other Blazer ev owners and have found they too have had the same peoblem.

Increasing speed by itself, let foot off gas pedal and gas pedal sticking, 1st time I tapped brakes and it quit. 2nd time it did not. I had to slam brakes and hokd until the point they had overheated and smell burnt and filed a separate complaint for that today. Gas pedal sticking and self accelerating. Pedal to the floor accelerating. I do not drive like that and scared the hell out of me. I bout it 5 days ago from a Chevrolet dealership. I'm tired of rip offs. Next one best be brand new and they reimburse me for outside mechanical I inspection period. Bc I trust no dealer now. Went from 7p to about 95 in 10 seconds for 10 min. Not sure what braking did bx I coukd care less about the phone whike I am trying not to hit cars in front of me literally almost jammed an 18 wheeler and moving truck with me pushing the brakes as gmhard as I could.
Car wouldn’t crank.
I was driving down 776 (a busy highway)blazer completely shut off, so scary almost got hit by a semi, I don’t know how he managed to get around me , I jumped out of car! sure thought it was my day to die! called police for help! had it towed home then to garage , was told it was the electrical fuel modular! haven’t slept right in 3 days ! I’m still so shaken up!.
Driving along vehicle shut down in middle of road replace fuel pump, fuel module control in August 2025. Now both top and bottom fuel hose needs replacing. On Nov 2025 I smelled gas and vehicle shut down.
The vehicle has 14,000 miles on it and the fuel pump control module has gone out on it. This happened while away from home and could’ve caused a serious situation if this had happened in a remote area where customer could’ve been stranded or if customer were pulling onto a busy road. Luckily it happened in the parking lot of a store. The vehicle was running fine on the way to the store. When customer came back out to the vehicle it cranked up but then stalled which also left customer in between parking rows, potentially causing an accident. I have the old fuel pump control module readily available for inspection. Customer had an updated version that replaced the original one that was in it. There were no signs or indications that this was going to happen until it did. I know there was a big issue / recall with the modules on silverado and tahoe’s etc. Around the same manufacturing era. For reference- 1/2 tank of fuel, no cel until after it happened, approx. 88° outside, coolant temp near 120°, vehicle battery had good voltage and battery cells are good.
Fuel pump module. Driving highway speeds lost all engine power as car sputtered to a stop. Luckily car srill ran enough to maintain power steering and brake function. No warning lights. Thought it was bad fuel as I had filled the tank the prior evening with little driving after that. Towed to dealership after spending 2 hours in 100 degree plus weather on the side of the highway. Dealership states it is the fuel pump module. Dealership is waiting on new unit to be installed.
To whom it may concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and persistent issues with my 2020 Chevrolet Blazer. The vehicle has exhibited repeated problems that I believe may indicate a broader safety or mechanical defect, and I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate these concerns further. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced the check engine light turning on and off repeatedly, without consistent resolution. The following issues have occurred over time, all seemingly related to the engine or control systems: engine cooling system failure: the first major issue involved the engine cooling system. This caused the vehicle to overheat and required service. I was concerned about the potential for engine damage or fire risk due to excessive heat. Variable valve timing (vvt) system malfunction: shortly after the cooling system issue, the vehicle began experiencing problems with the variable valve timing system. This not only affected performance and fuel efficiency but also caused the check engine light to illuminate again. Steering control assist sensor warnings: most recently, the steering control assist sensor has started to malfunction, with warnings frequently popping up on the dashboard. This has impacted steering feel and raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple service appointments and repairs, these problems persist or reappear. This cycle of temporary fixes without a lasting resolution is both frustrating and concerning from a safety standpoint. I am requesting that the NHTSA look into whether these recurring engine and control system issues are part of a known defect or recall-worthy problem affecting the 2020 chevy Blazer. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The temp gage stays on cool. Ac does not work and the radiator fan stays on after car shuts off. Dealership finds nothing wrong.
I bought a 2019 chevy Blazer in February 2023 . The vehicle has issues when I fill it with gas. As soon as I gas up to full it starts jerking immediately afterwards. It makes loud popping sounds. The engine dies completely. It starts to tremble and will not go. When I try to turn in back on , the starter works very hard before it will turn back on. It does turn back on eventually but I have to pull over to the side and accelerate the engine until it finally stays on. I drives that way turning off at lights and stops. After about 10-15 minutes of this , it finally stays on long enough to drive another 20 minutes or so to get home. After it rests for a few hours, it goes like normal. This is a big safety concern for me since these episodes happen every week when I fill up my car with gas. I have almost been hit from behind during these episodes and it is very scary and such a hassle to have to deal with this every week. I have already had several chevy dealers and mechanics work on this problem and it continues to act up like this. I have all the paperwork for the work that has been done. $15, 000 have already been spent on this problem and the problem still continues. Please help me. I like chevy vehicles and have always bought chevy but this is the second chevy vehicle that has given me problems when I gas up. Please look into this problem. The transmission valve control body went out while I was on the freeway. I was able to pull off to the side safely but has rendered my vehicle inoperable until I get this repaired. I have confirmed this with the dealership. This is a large enough issue with vehicles that the necessary parts are on back order. Anecdotally, the dealership told me there was a vehicle that was waiting for almost 3 months for a replacement part. For context I have regularly maintained this vehicle and just 10000 miles ago got my transmission flushed.
Engine light on caused by emission system failure. Sensor unable to be changed until recall. Remote start unavailable while engine light is on. Had issue. Looked at four times at dealership. No correction taken.

On December 4th, 2024, I was driving my Blazer up to our local museum to grab some information. The museum is about a mile and a half from my house. When I had left my house, the car was driving like normal. I pulled into a parking spot at the musuem, and I went to shut the vehicle off, and I thought maybe the check engine light had come on but wasn't completely paying attention to the dash. About 10 minutes later I went to restart the vehicle to leave and I noticed the check engine light on. Since the vehicle seemed to be driving okay I thought I could make it home and check the car's computer to see what the issue was. As I was leaving the parking lot I stopped at the end of the parking lot to look before pulling out onto the road and the Blazer said shift to neutral and restart the vehicle. When I did that the vehicle would not start. It would just crank and crank and then it would finally start for a few seconds. I was going to back my vehicle up out of the road but each time I would try the car would die. I am very thankful this did not happen on the highway or even on the freeway. A friend and myself had to push my vehicle back into a parking spot. The dtc code is a p023f. When this happens, you can't technically shift the vehicle into neutral to push it out of the way because the car has to be running to shift. I was able to force it into neutral, however. I made an appointment with awesome Chevrolet in chehalis wa and had to have it towed to the dealer. They stated it was the fuel pump module. I had at that time 18,388 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately, I no longer feel safe with this vehicle in case it happens again. Where I am hours from home or on a 2-lane road or freeway. The fuel pump module failure appears to be a known issue with gm vehicles. The fuel pump module was replaced and was able to be replaced under warranty. I hope that it does not happen again.
6/12/2024 in damon parking lot in rochester mn. Going less than 10 miles an hr- cars in front of me and behind me looking for a parking spot. Stop and go at times. Went to turn corner to go from one level to the next and my Blazer took off "like a bullet". No control over accelerated speed- hit outer cement wall and slammed into 2 parked empty suvs. Could not go any farther. The 2 suvs slammed into cement wall in front of them. Injuries to both my passenger and myself. I have no idea what happened - it was so fast- I do know I had no control over accelerated rate causing accident. My 2020 chevy Blazer was totaled- it was inspected by american national insurance CO. Absolutely no warnings. Police report did not include any witness. Blazer is in the hands of the insurance CO. Chevy Blazer took off like a bullet - could not stop it!!police report 24026393 rochester police dept unable to upload . Checked no police report below so I could continue report.
I purchased this car in may 2023. Since day 1 one the car stalls after filling and out of nowhere. Can be sitting still or going down the highway and highway sped. I took it on snd they could not find anything. Was told to keep track of when it happens. After almost being rear ended several tons and being put in extreme safety I called them and took it back in . They have now had since 9/21/2023 saying they’re some kid of valve problem in the gas tank. So I am paying for a brand new car that is unsafe to drive and is at the dealer for who knows how long .
On Friday, April 28, 2023, at about 11:30 am, my car, died as I was driving it out of the grocery store parking lot; luckily, it didn’t happen as I was crossing the busy highway. I attempted several times to restart it, with no luck. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of this problem. The vehicle was in the middle of an aisle, blocking the aisle and many cars in parking spots, so I managed to get it into neutral and it backed around into parking spaces where the left rear quarter stopped against the front tire of a Ford f-350. I was actually thankful for the truck as I had no steering or brakes, and I was on a slight hill heading towards the road. I had it towed to the dealership, which was unable to tell me what the problem was before I obtained a ride home at 3:30 pm and that they would call me when they had it figured out. When I returned home, my husband had searched the internet for recalls for the car and was unable to locate any. I called the service department the next day, Saturday April 29, and was told that the problem was the fuel pump control module, which was under warranty, and it could be 3 months before it was fixed as they didn’t have one, and there was a large backorder. The fuel pump module was recalled on other gm vehicles gm #n212382040 and NHTSA campaign #21v739000, and there was another recall by gm on February 6, 2023 recall #n222372310 that did not include the chevy Blazer.
Two different events, first on the highway press the accelerator to pass, and the accelerator stuck tried to tap the brake did not change, had to repress the accelerator for it to return to normal. Second event pulling the car out of garage, to park in the driveway, when stopped to shift into park, the accelerator was stuck and the motor starting revving up, this time, I just turned the engine off. Also there is nothing to interfere with the accelerator, such as floor mat carpet nothing. My daughter has 2021 Blazer she said the same issues. I know this is just hear say, but on the local news, a lady's car ran out of control and ended up on the railroad tracks, she just made it out before the train hit her car, police report stated she was having problems with the accelerator, another gm product in the same year as our car.
We were sold a new vehicle with known computer problems. The dealership knew of the defects but sold it to us anyway. They consider it a warranty issue. Chevrolet doesn’t seem to care.
I had just purchased my vehicle around December 9 2021. On around decmeber 16, 2021 around 8 am I was driving on the highway 65 miles an hour. & the vehicle came to a complete stop. It kepts saying my fuel tank was empty. I quickly turned off the vehicle & tried turning it on & it did. I dropped it off at the dealership & it came back it was fuel pump. It was supposibly fixed. Comes January 26 vehicle did the same thing gettinf out of work. I got the vehicle back February 17. & today February 19, 2022 the truck did the same thing.
1. The power steering (confirmed by dealership) is causing vehicle to pull very hard in one direction 2. Something fuel related does not allow my car to accelerate properly. Foot will be on the throttle and accelerating and without moving the throttle the vehicle will slow, rpms will drop then suddenly begins to accelerate again. 3. Car states it’s not in park after I shift into park.
Tried putting gas in my vehicle and it wouldnt ump much ran back into gas station to get back the money I didnt pump and when I came back out my gas was on the ground. Stationary at the gas pump.

I purchased this vehicle in February 2015 with 71,000 - the body was very well kept inside and out. What I didn't know was the extensive amount of rust and corrosion under the vehicle, which did not show initially. I have only had same a little over a year and have had to already replace front arm joints because they snapped in half and my tire was sitting crooked and in danger of falling off!! fuel lines had to be replaced because they completed rusted through and gasoline was leaking out all over. The driver door was checked 2x as it does not shut correctly and I can hear wind getting into the vehicle while driving (not to mention water pouring in over the driver's side door and door controls), the brakes go completely to the floor (despite being fixed), the abs light and check engine light stay on despite being checked - this truck design is terrible and it now rides and sounds like a bucket of bolts. I have had many trucks from GMC jimmy, Chevrolet trailblazer, etc. - I have never had one that has gone completely sour in so short a time. I have also read the numerous accounts of people in accidents with this year vehicle and the brakes failing and airbags not deploying - I am seriously scared to drive this vehicle anymore. I am a single mother of 2 and thought I was purchasing a reliable vehicle for my family from a reputable company. I see that most of the complaints - if they were investigated by chevy - were deemed "no problem found" and swept under the rug. What do I do?! I have already spent over $1,000 to fix this vehicle and it still has issues - I simply cannot afford to keep sinking $$ into a vehicle that is going to bleed me dry.

The fuel gage sensor system becomes faulty after 74,000 miles. Mine started at approx. 90,000 miles. I have learned online this has happened to many 2002 Blazer owners & gm will not address the issue. Because of this the cars will not pass emissions due to a diagnostic trouble code & costs over $1,000 to repair on a 12 year old vehicle even thought it has nothing to do with the actual emission output. It is one thing to have parts break down with age and quite another to have the same part become faulty on a large scale. I cannot renew my plates due to the emission failure and cannot afford to fix a gage for a $1,000. Gm needs to recall the vehicles and admit their fault using a cheap faulty part to save $$. I know this may not be a "safety" concern per say but gm advised me to make a complaint with NHTSA. My vehicle is my lively hood & I don't know what else to do.

Ever since I own this vehicle, the ignition switch does not lock. Therefore it is possible to leave the truck and not know the ignition switch is still in the on position. Also, the gas gauge bounces all over the place and I have to use the trip to know when I need gas. This has also been a problem since I own the truck. Occasionally, the low fuel light comes on (I know I have fuel) and the truck starts acting like it's low on gas.
The 06 trailblazer ran out of fuel on the freeway! there is a known recall on the trailblazer but gm will only pay half of the repair I think it is a safety issue and should have gm pay the complete cost!.
Fuel level sensor quit working.

Fuel gage switches between full to empty all the time. When the car is at stop and running, to driving down the road. You never really know how much gas you really have. I have taken to writing down the mileage every time I fill up.
Fuel gage shows low fuel then full then back to low fuel . It does not give a accurate reading.
Engine light keeps coming on had a diagnostic check done with the code p0440 coming up which is the evaporative emissions system yet no-one can find anything wrond with the Blazer.
