1 Driveshaft problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 07/29/2018

I was on my way to a car show and stopped at a stop sign. As I continued on at about 3/4 throttle o was shifting gears as I went from 2nd to 3rd gear I heard and felt a loud bang on bottom of car. I lost all acceleration and pulled over. I picked up the parts from the road. After having car towed to a friend's shop we were able to get it on a lift and see that the drive shaft had exploded at the mid point. After further inspection we found that the emergency brake cables had bet completely destroyed and the drive shaft that was left attached to transmission had ripped into the tunnel of the car. I could see the carpet and plastic to center console through this hole.

All of this leaving me stranded for periods of time or holding up traffic. No codes being thrown to dash which leads me to believe something is wrong with the computer system. The chassis bounces and studders as if somthing is about to ceese up and the drive shaft clumks. Stabilitrak light has been fixed several times, traction control comes on as well. Failure Date: 05/30/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. While shifting into second gear, the contact heard a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle lost power and stalled. Upon inspection, it was determined that three bolts that attached the driveshaft to the differential had sheared off, which caused the driveshaft to detach. During the incident, the heat shield and fuel tank were also severely damaged. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 13,500.

5 Driveshaft problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

Bolts on the drive shaft are defective and breaking off the drive shaft. Car begins to vibrate heavily on stick shift and steering wheel. It is also represented and equally explained on other web pages regarding the Chevrolet, Camaro products, same year or newer. After inspection two of three nuts and bolts either broke off or came off, leaving one bolt to control the torq and horse power traveling down the drive shaft. Vehicle was hard to maneuver and clear off the road to a safe location.

6 Driveshaft problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 11/04/2010

At 3900 miles, the right rear halfshaft drive axle failed on 11/04/10. At 6907 miles, the car suffered another catastrophic powertrain failure. The full extent of the damage has yet to be determined. The known damage included, driveshaft, transmission, transmission shifter, and exhaust. The failure occurred during 5pm rush hour traffic at @ 35mph, with a grinding noise, and vibration as the only indicators that a failure was imminent. The failure occurred with traffic surrounding the vehicle at a relatively slow speed. Had the same failure occurred at 55mph, or interstate speeds in excess of 55mph, the outcome could have involved fatalities.

7 Driveshaft problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 12/01/2000

Vehicle was purchased with 2,000 miles on it and still under manufacturers warranty. After driving the vehicle at highway speeds for a few days I noticed the steering wheel shimmied back and forth. This was annoying but not enough to cause concern. I wanted to wait a little longer and make sure there were no other issues to bring to the dealers attention before taking it in for warranty work. At about 7,ooo miles the shimmying became much more intense and very dangerous when braking at 50 to 60 mph. This condition could cause loss of vehicle control and collision. I took vehicle to dealer and was told the rotors were warped due to excessive braking and not covered under warranty. I had to pay to have the rotors turned. I contacted general motors and complained and have not heard back from them. Also the driveline makes a "tink tink" noise when going from park to "r" or "d" or whenever the load changes on the drivetrain. I was told the differential needed servicing at 7,000 miles at my cost.
