Power Steering Failed Problems of Chevrolet Camaro

Power steering went out randomly while driving. More often at lower speeds. Battery would drain while at stoplights. Car has not been driven hard. Less than 36000 miles. Dealer states failure of power steering gear assembly. 2017 model Camaro had recall for similar power steering failure. Dealer does not recognize this as pertinent and thus will not cover expensive repair.

Steering wheel torque sensor failed open causing loss of power steering. Error code c0545. There is an active gm factory recall for power steering failure, recall number: n182182760 and NHTSA campaign number: 19v086000. Unfortunately, my VIN was not part of that recall. I drove the car 4 miles then turned it off and parked. Upon starting the vehicle again the power steering failed.
