Brake Abs Warning Light Problems of Chevrolet Cavalier

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the abs light illuminated on the instrument panel and the rear brakes would not respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated that the electronic brake control module would have to be replaced and the brakes would be cleaned and adjusted. The failure continued after the repairs and the electronic tracking system light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on three different occasions. The technician replaced the crank shaft sensor and the computer. The failure continued. The approximate failure mileage was 213,000.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. Over the past two years, the brakes lock when the contact drives over a bump in the road. He would have to pump the brakes in order for them to unlock. He took the vehicle to another dealer for a diagnostic and was informed that there was a spring in the rear passenger side that caused the brakes to lock. The spring would trip a sensor on the dash and the vehicle would stop. The dealer is repairing the failure and is also installing an abs sensor light for the brakes. The failure mileage was 76,000. The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. The contact stated that his front brakes were in need of replacement after 10,000 miles. In addition, the hydraulic brakes continued to lock on the vehicle while driving in forward or reverse. There were no warning indicators that indicated that the braking system failed. It was later discovered that the warning indicator system also failed. The dealer installed an ats lighting system to ensure the warning panel would illuminate if there were any further failures. The traction-control does not work. The dashboard shows the "service," "abs," and "low trac" light. These typically come on soon after the engine is started, when the brakes are pressed or the steering wheel is turned.

1997 Chevrolet Cavalier. Sometimes the steering wheel will not allow the consumer to turn it toward the left. This happened at least 4 times. The last time it happened at an intersection, which caused consumer to lose control of the vehicle. Consumer was able to steer vehicle safely to the curb. She was driving around 20-30 mph. Sometimes the abs light came on and turned off by itself. The first time the steering problem occurred was on 7-25-05 ,and the last time was on 7-27-05. There were no other problems with the vehicle at this time.

Brakes are grinding and wearing out fast. First set was put on before December 2000. Abs light intermittently comes on/off. Dealer is not responding to why they're wearing out so fast.

The vehicle has experienced continued problems with rotors warping causing brake pulsation, the abs light illuminates continually, after several replacements and repairs of the system (rotors, pads, caliper sleeves) the problems continued, final analysis revealed a defective abs computer system causing problems.

Chey Cavalier has abs light on for as long as I have owned the car and it has been in a accident. Also it has fail many times I called the company for answers but no one has help.

The antilock brakes in the consumer's 1999 Cavalier activated at low speeds. This problem has occurred while the consumer was pulling in and out of a driveway, approaching a stop sign, while driving in parking lots and while parking. The abs light began to illuminate intermittently. The consumer pulls the abs fuse to deactivate the system.
