Windshield Problems of Chevrolet Cavalier

Hvac cable bent and then snapped. Now I can't defrost the windshield I ran off the road today because I could not see. I reported this problem to gm over a year ago and they didn't seem to care. They never responded to my letter. This is a big safety issue. I have had it fixed by a mechanic 2x and should not only be reimbursed, but should have this problem fixed. It still does not work right. Had the actual cable replaced and then just had the kink corrected on it and it broke again the next day.

Inside of the vehicle smelled mildew from water leaking inside of the windshield. Dealership was aware of the problem, but did not resolve it.

The plastic strip near front window on dash board is cracked in two different places. There was no damage done to the vehicle to cause this type of damage. The plastic piece cracked all the way up to the windshield.

While parked in driveway and vehicle being in idle passenger's side window shattered. Consumer contacted manufacturer, and the manufacturer told her that there was nothing that they can do.

Consumer has a color film on front windshield which ostructs vision when sun is shinning. Has not had any accidents yet. Dealers says they cannot help consumer because vehicle came from factory like that.

Passenger window shattered while driving down the street,apparently window was bound up. Spacers missing on driver and passenger side. Fortunately my mother was not injured, but covered in glass. Have taken in twice now for the driver window which keeps becoming loose or losing spacers that keep it in place.

Inside trim along windshield cracked through. Replacement cost is $775. I have my doubts as whether this was a new car at time of purchase for the following reasons: about 2 years ago my daughter scraped the right side of the car. While having it repaired the independent collision repair shop commented if the car had been in a previous wreck. I told the shop owner that the car was bought new and was not involved in a wreck. On 10 oct. 2000 I took the car into bachman Chevrolet to have the cracked dash trim assess (gm case c1837827). The service manager called me at home to inform me that it would cost $775 to replace the trim. He proceeded to question me about the car being in a wreck. I informed him that the car was not involved in a wreck and it was bought new from his employer. Based on the above statements I now have my doubts about the car. .

Neither of the only 2 windows will roll down or up due to the failure of the motors. The first motor failed at 50k miles, the seond at 60k miles. In the event of an accident, progress would be impeded or prevented due to these failures. Dt.

While driving 20 mph and without a collision driver's window unexpectedly shattered, cause unknown.

Bright lights hamper the vision in the windshield of the driver side of the dashboard. Also it's a bad reflection and it affects normal vision through the windshield. Consumer has contacted the dealer, and they are aware of the problem.

Driver's side window, when open, allows water to pour into car. The results are water marks on the door and the apoholstry matted down.

The windshield ha a faulty design that causes distorting reflactions.

Light colored dashboard is causing a glare against steep slope windshield, resulting in reduced/poor visibility.
