I own a 2002 silverado 1500. Several months ago I had problems with the abs brakes kicking in at about 5 mph and nearly causing several accidents. After some research I was able to clean the abs sensors and mounting areas and once again have brakes. However, now(sept. 2010) the metal brake lines under the drivers door rusted through and nearly caused an accident with 3 people inside, including my son and his 3 year old son. I am having it taken to a garage to get an estimate for repair. I have had many vehicles, none of which have had these problems.

Was looking to park in a super market and when I slowed to turn in and pressed the brake pedal it vibrated and actually attempted to speed up slightly. Took it to the dealer and they said it was because the stainless steel rotors had rust on them and the sensor wasn't working right. Polished them and it was good for a year or so. The next thing about a year later I got a recall for the same thing from the manufacturer. They had to do the same process. They did reimburse me from the first time it happened.

Loss of breaking below 5 mph. Anti lock brakes quit working. Coming to a stop, at about 5 mph, brake pedal pushes back against foot, all breaking ceases and howling or burrrrr noise is heard. If you force the brake pedal down as in panic stop, pedal goes almost to floor and braking resumes. If you let up on the brake pedal and reapply pressure, breaking returns to normal operation. This is an intermittent problem, but repeatable. There are no warning lights on the dash. The gm dealer says my vehicle is not involved in the abs recall as it is in minnesota. Dealer says I have to will probably have to replace the hubs and sensors to fix problem. They are aware of the problems with the brakes, but at this time, they say it is my responsibility as the recall does not affect my vehicle.

The brakes on my 2001 Chevrolet silverado went into anit-lock brake mode as I was making a stop on dry pavement coming just short of smashing into a garbage truck. I contacted Chevrolet and was told no recalls on my vehicle since it is not located in canada or some states listed in the us. They have said it is a recall on failing anti-lock sensors that have rust from salt, but minnesota is not one of the states. We don't use salt on roads up here during the winter? what a joke.
Abs wheel sensor problems. TSB released but no recall. Could cause serious accident. Brakes shutter when slowing down. Brought to dealership to have serviced but my warranty wouldn't cover due to TSB. Many complaints by other people online due to this problem. A $500. 00 repair. Should be racalled.
I started to get brake peddle vibration at low speed. I pulled into a store parking lot and truck wouldn't stop until it ran into parking bumper. I took it to my dealer and they changed a wheel sensor (paid for by my extended warrenty).
