Will not start- ignition bad - relay bad.
Shift solenoids are bad. Googled it and it's a regular problem.
Key can be removed while a car is still running. It still does this. Hasn't been repaired.
I was driving and came to a stop light while I noticed tge hood was smoking when I pulled over to the side and popped my hood I realized my engine was on fire very small by coolent thermostat when looking under the car I realised there was a puddle of oil.
Gas line leak on drivers side under a clamp.
Sudden strong smell of gasoline coming from the engine into the inside of the vehicle. Car then acts like it's going to stall and has no power. No visual leaks of gasoline anywhere.
Gas fumes inside and out, no leaks found when stopped.
Ignition control module or cam shaft sensors! car just stops while driving in motion while driving on the highway and then have problems starting back up.
My 16 yr old son was driving in a cul-DE-sac when he was about 3/4 of the way thru the curve his steering failed and he hit a light pole. He stated that the steering wheel froze up on him. He couldn't turn the wheel. We took the vehicle to chevy dealership. They stated that the recall work was already completed. Then why are we continuing to have this problem? my son is suffering from whiplash and is going to chiropractor visits twice weekly.
When I driving there is a super strong smell of gas,it has the same smell even in park. The smell is so overwhelming. It like a gas can sitting on my lap while driving.
Smell gas very strongly and gas is coming from the top of the gas tank. There was a recall for this vehicle model in 2009. Now it is closed. No longer open. What can be done about this problem?.
The both front speaker quit working. That the turn signal chime did not work either this after take mi car to the dealership cause something about power steering recall.
The key is stuck on the on position an stuck in the ignition {can not get the key out of the ignition }.
Defective keys gm changed metal in keys which cause keys to bend and brake. Gm offers free lifetime replacement of keys and refuses to voluntarily correct defect. Filed complaint with indiana attorney general greg zoeller file no. 15-cp-60325 tara soto garcia vs. GMC/Chevrolet motor. Received reimbursement of key program and tow but not for loss of day pay or cost to remove broken keys from locks. Sauers; laporte has documented numerous complaints from customers due to defective gm keys. I am requesting a recall of this defective product the company knowingly continues to produce, market, and supply customers.
At 8:30am on Dec 15th with the temp outside of 40 deg. I turned left onto an acceleration ramp and put the accelerator almost all the way down. I let up off the accelerator to yield to another car on the ramp. The vehicle continued to accelerate and would not slow upon braking hard. I stomped the pedal twice as if it were stuck. This had no impact upon my uncontrolled runaway acceleration. I shut the key off and luckily the other car yielded to me upon hearing my motor rev up. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and stop safely. I restarted the car and did not have any further difficult making to more 10 mile round trips. The ignition key has been changed per recall and the power steering has been done also on recall. However the power steering did fail about 1 month ago despite the fact that it also had been recalled. At that time I replaced the battery because it was almost 9 years old. No further power steering problems. I have also had difficulty with the floor shift sticking after parking. .
Parked vehicle and entered house. Roughly two minutes later the neighbor was banging on the door saying the car was on fire. The vehicle was not overheating or smoking when we left it. We used a garden hose until the fire department arrived and my husband disconnected the battery. The fire seems to have began at or near the fuse box. It also appears to have burned into the fuel line. Without the presence of our neighbors and living two blocks from the fire department, it could have been much worse.
8/6/14 I drove my car to work and when I got in it to go to lunch it wouldn't start I purchased a brand new legend battery from napa on 2/13/14 got it jumped drove it to napa the battery was completely dead they gave me another one the next day it did the same thing the whole car lost power and cut off while I was about to make a left turn. My locks on the doors are jumping up and down, my speakers on the doors are going in and out. My ignition switch has not been changed yet they tell me it takes 8 weeks before the part gets in. I am frustrated about this, this is not safe and I bought this car brand new paid for and I'm having all kinds of issue.
While driving along, getting off of an exit ramp onto a main hwy, I reached over to turn my defroster off, when the wheel jerked to the left, I attempted to gain control but never got total control although I did get back onto the road. A few seconds later the car jerked again and this time I realized the steering wheel was not moving-it was locked up and I could not turn it. I then hit the guard rail on the north side of the hwy and then came across to the south side hitting the concrete bridge railing. The ignition switch recall had supposedly been corrected but the ignition locked up on this vehicle.
Its been almost a month since my Cobalt went in to the dealer for it to get fixed. Hardly anything has been done for the car to be repaired. I haved called to check and all they say its that is going to be ready soon. My daughter really needs the car for school and work transportation. Can something be done from the goverment so that the process can go by faster? it wasnt my fault that the car came out with alot of problems!.
I was driving at about 35mp and it felt like my right rear brakes was sticking like they where stuck, then I was driving and it the car didnt want to move I push all the way to the floor with the gas peadel and it still wouldnt move, so I put it back into park , try again the it went in reverse. But it moved really slow, the key wouldnt turn most of the time had to keep turning it also took car to dealer to have key ignition fix said they dont know how long it would take to fix, then I get on internet and see there are up to six recalls on this car but how do I find out if I can have them fix them too. Only got one letter which was for the ingiton switch.
Car was taken to the dealership due to a recall. Day after I pick it up from there I was not able to pull it from a parking lot (power steer light was on) . I contacted gm and they asked me to call the dealer. Dealer promised me that they will call me back, they also said that my car had similar issue in may 2010, but gm only asked for specific part to be replaced at this time (last recall) and this is the work that they did. I called them a few times and no answer. On 5/3 contacted gm and I was told that a customer experience manager will take care of my car, so I should wait 24hrs for a phone call. I kept calling gm because no one called me back, left message on 5/9, 5/16 (no answer). A phone call was missing from them on 5/9, I called back with no answer. . . Called them yesterday again and explained my concern driving a car that sometime is hard to handle and make turns and at the same time I smell gas inside while driving, I also said that I do not want to put my 11 years old in risk. . . . . . , I was told that my case is now with a higher manager and they will contact me soon. Today, I called gm again and they had me waiting for 25 minutes to connect my call with the manager, nothing happened. I feel this car is not safety . . . .
I have called my local deal about a month ago to have this part replaced. Turns out they don't order the part until you call. Regardless I have been waiting a monthand there is no indication when the part will be available. I am currently driving about 30 miles a day to work on highways and expressways I am a nervous wreck about this problem I fear the part might fall out while I'm on one of these roadways and I'll have an accident. I am following their instruction regarding the key but I still don't feel safe. Don't you think gm should be giving us loaner cars to drive until they are able to correct this problem? this is not the first recall on this car and gm needs to be more proactive about the safety of their customers.
The car had the fuel moduel and tank replaced inoctober 2012 they said it was not a recall and covered it under my powertrain 3 days before it went out. I just got the car back from the ignition recall and the air bag on passenger doesnt work they claim its something different, the gas is draining from the car again, it smells like gas. I am assuming that the fuel line again has broke, and the fuel moduel and tank will be soon behind it. Last time they told me the car had the potential to blow up. The door electrical switches go on and off by themselves. The turn signals work when they want to too.
Received notice of recall. Took my car to dealership service center. Still have not heard anything in regards to the part being available. I took everything off the keyring as suggested. Since then I have locked myself out of my home and car. This has been a terrible inconvenience for me. It is easier when my keys are together for sure! I am a patient person but for goodness sakes! I cannot keep worrying about locking myself out of car and home everyday for who knows how long. Please!!!!!! when are the parts going to be available?.
I am the owner of a 2007 chevy Cobalt. I was not made aware of the dangerous and deadly ignition switch recall until 3/28/14 when I mother told me of it. I immediately phoned gm and the response after giving the rep my VIN was I'm not sure what to tell you but yes there is a recall. I asked if she was able to show my car was part of the recall why I wasn't notified in the mail. I indicated that the car is registered and insured under my name only and that I have presently been living at the same address for 7 years. I've had the car for almost two years. She was not able to give me an answer. I am completely appalled as a chevy owner as I have always told people chevy's were a great car to own. I think you should be aware of this as others may be in the same position I was in and was never notified of this dangerous recall.
It's very disturbing to receive a safety recall notice in the mail. It's even more disturbing to be advised that your car cannot be repaired ASAP because "parts are not currently available. " really? it's come to light this was known as far back as 2001 and parts are not currently available??!! even by keeping the ignition key all by itself on the key ring is no guarantee that this issue will not occur. This is the second recall I've had on this car since I purchased it in 2009. I've owned a number of cars in the past and none of them ever faced any type of recall whatsoever. Needless to say, I'm very unhappy and very unimpressed.
Received a recall notice from the manufacturer regarding a defect with the ignition. Contacted dealership to make appt. No part available. Have contacted dealership regularly and no part available. It is now August and part is still not available.
I find it incredible that it is taking months upon months to complete a simple parts replacement. I was notified in March 2014 of the recall and replacement of the ignition switch for my car and contacted the repair shop for my area that was assigned to do the repairs in March and was told they did not know anything about the recall. I received another letter in April and called the shop again on may 12, 2014 and was informed that the part had to be ordered and it would take 4 to 6 weeks, so I waited until June 4, 2014 to check in on when they could fix the switch and was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks again. I feel that the public is getting the run around in this situation and that the gm company is trying to delay this so that they won't have to fix the problem because time has run out. The parts manufacture has had plenty of time to make more or get more parts this is a stall tactic and I feel that I am taking a risk with my life every time I have to drive to work.
My door locks are electric locks and they lock on their own and when I am driving they tend to go up and down on their own. This has been going for three weeks. Also the sound for my signal and seat belt warning is not clicking nor chiming, the left speaking went out at the same time the sound stopped.
Was driving car, heard a clicking noise, smelled smoke and car busted into flames. Still waiting for insurance company to look at car. Was a total loss,.
My Cobalt started sticking upon entering the key to ignition. Sometimes it started right away, others, I had to sit & wait, try again & then it would start. Never knew if it would or would not start. Dealt with it until I heard about the recall. Called the number on the letter I received in March 2014, when I made my report on my vehicle. I was told it would be April 7, 2014 when my parts would be in. Called dealer where I purchased the car in April around the 22nd 2014 & was told the end of may 2014 the parts would be in. Asked for a car to drive until then & the service dept. @ diane sauer laughed @ me. . . . . Now searching for another dealership in my area & to purchase or lease a new vehicle, I have much anxiety & am weary of traveling @ all. Not acceptable. Since then, April 29th 2014, service engine light came on & had to pay over $300 for that repair. Not sure what will happen next, still feel unsafe in my own car.
Vehicle still has not been repaired by dealer for ignition switch replacement. Reno guthrie Chevrolet 501 w hanover st new baden, IL 62265.
When parking car I was unable to retrieve key from my ignition due to the fact that the car would not properly shift into park.
Once the car was stopped and shut off the driver side, and on one occasion the passenger side, door(s) would unlock, but not be able to be opened. The door would then have to be locked, and then unlocked several more times, sometimes taking ten to fifteen minutes, to be opened.
The drivers side door handle does not work from the inside. This is dangerous because it could trap a driver inside the vehicle.
