Was heading to work when the chevy Cobalt suddenly shut off, causing me to lose power breaks, power steering, and causing the air bags not to deploy when I went straight threw a stop sign impacting into a snow bank.
As I was pulling into the garage I always look to see exactly where I should stop. As I stepped on the gas pedal to pull up a little bit more the car accelerated and would not stop when I stepped on the brake and went into my son's tool box and if it wasn't there would of gone through the dining room wall out the other side. As it was the tool box went into the wall. The air bags did not deploy and the windshield wipers kept on go as full speed, the tires were spinning and there were skid marks on the floor. The brakes went down to the floor. The garage was full of smoke from the tires that is how fast the car was going. I had trouble shutting off the car.

I went back into traffic and hit another vehicle on the side panel and came to rest with my car northbound in the southbound traffic the air bags did not deploy in the crash, which I found concerning with the amount of front end damage the vehicle sustained. I was driving the car at about 32 mph when the engine shut down. I traveled across four lanes hitting the curb head on then hitting a concrete flower bed( approximate hit 12-14 inches), traveling over this again hitting a curb in a parking lot and then the car came to a rest. The airbags did not deploy and the car was not running. This is not the first time the car has stopped running like this. When I first purchased it in February 0f 2006 within the first week the ignition would not turn over requiring a trip to the dealership. The ignition has been replaced at least 5 times. About three months into owing it I was driving down the road and the engine was trying to restart it self. It then stopped and I ended up in a ditch. Again the airbags did not deploy. Finally, in 2012 a school bus backed into the front of the car with it running and the airbags did not deploy. The igniton was replaced on 6/04/2014 under the mandatory recall. Within 3 days the ignition once again would not turn on and then when it did the engine dragged as if the battery was bad. The battery is one year old. I have had this problem non-stop since the replacement part. I called graff Chevrolet in mt. Pleasant and I got the standard response, "we can"t duplicate it". When I insisted the car needed to be looked at I was told, we have the right to refuse service and we can no longer service your car". I've called other dealerships only to be told the car needs to go back to where the recall part was replaced.
On Sunday November 3,2013 my son was on his way home from the james madison university traveling east on virginia route 66 heading towards the capital beltway (495). At mile post 26 on route 66 he lost control of the vehicle in the fast lane. Landed upside down in the oncoming traffic lane on the west bound side of the divided median. The front air bags did not deploy. The car ended up on its roof. An ambulance and police both arrived as well as other people stopped on the opposite side of the median. The passenger had to crawl out of the passenger window. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and was removed by emt personal and flown to a trauma center. The passenger was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. They both survived with injuries. We have pictures of the car showing the damage.

4/22/13 approx 7:30 am, approached red-light, gently applying brakes. Car started to lose power! dashboard lights dimmed while I was slowing down. This has been happening for over a yr. As soon as light turned green, car felt like it was losing power and was going to stall out! (like if you were to run out of gas. Stepped on the gas, as soon as I saw the light turn green, to try to prevent the stall out, and about 1/4 into intersection, another car was running a caution light, which turned to red. . . My car regained power with a thrust of the engine, which took me into the path of the other vehicle who hit me at about 35 mph, which caused us to spin completely around in the middle of intersection. Airbags did not deploy. The police report stated I failed to yield the right of way. In part that is true, as I I felt I had to apply the gas to the car to keep it from "stalling! heavy damage to driver's side, front end, hood, bumper and support beam by engine. There are many recalls on this car. 5/9/2012, fuel odor or spotting on ground; 9/16/10-loss of power steering assist; 3/1/2010-recall 10v073000 power steering motor replacement; 1022/2009-fuel pump module replacement. In the pass three yrs I advised east syracuse chevy dealer that my dashboard lights, lighted areas radio, etc; go in and out like the car has an electrical problem, door left-open, lights, low-fuel, single lights chimes all don't work. Dealer advised me there is a short in the dash somewhere causing all these problems, radio speakers are all connected I would have to pay to repair which was over $2,000. Remotes don't work. I have had many front end problems with this vehicle, I. E. Sway bar, steering column bushings; struts;steering components, linkage/cv drive axle boots, control arms; repairs;11/30/11, 2/16/2011.

On my way home from work in heavy traffic in indianapolis, someone in front of me hit their brakes hard. As a result, I also had to slam on my brakes. When I did so, my rear end spun out. I lost power steering. I crashed head first into the concrete median. However, the airbag did not deploy. Luckily, I escaped severe injury; although the wreck, the resulting loss of power steering, and the fact that the airbag did not deploy were directly due to the negligence of general motors.
