Michelin pilot sport a/s plus tires are "chunking" and have dry rot/cracking on the tread. The tires are 3 years old with less than 20k miles. They have been properly rotated every 6k miles. Michelin will not accept a warranty claim, as the tires were installed by the vehicle's previous owner.

4 Tire problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 07/10/2011

I have had 3 incidents that I believe are directly related to the fuzion touring tires on my 2009 chevy Cobalt. The first was a rear end collision in early July, approximately 5 days after I had the tires installed on my car. When I needed to make an emergency stop the front wheels locked up and the car skidded into the car in front of mine, that had managed to stop before hitting a car that had swerved in front of him. The second incident occurred on oct 14, 2011. I was going through an intersection during a rainstorm. The intersection has a slight left bend to it. I was traveling at 35-40 mph when a van tried to make a left turn in front of me. He was way too close and I had to hit the brakes hard. The front wheels immediately locked up and my car rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise without slowing down at all. Fortunately, the driver of the van realized that he had screwed up and got through the intersection rapidly and a collision was avoided. Then last night, oct. 16th, again in the rain, I tried to stop at a yellow light on a slight downhill grade from about 45 mph. Again the wheels locked up and the car skidded through the intersection at about 40 mph. I have been driving since 1973 and have logged over a million miles. These fuzion touring tires are the most dangerous tires I have ever driven on, especially on wet pavement. I have had other tires on my Cobalt and never had any similar incidents. I am replacing them tomorrow because my life is worth more to me than the $400 that a set of tires costs. Driving in the rain with those tires is like driving on ice with normal tires. These tires are potentially deadly and I think they should be recalled immediately and then shredded. I would also like to mention that there are no traction, treadwear, or temperature ratings on these tires. The size is195/60-15, 88h. I would like to stress that these are fuzion touring tires, not fuzion hri. I had a set of fuzion hri's and they were fine.

5 Tire problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 10/27/2010

All four rims, especially the front passenger were defective, but dealer is claiming "impact damage". Also, the front two tires have worn either due to defect workmanship or the defective rims. In either case, I have now had to replace both front tires on my new chevy Cobalt purchased March 29, 2010. Gm very uncooperative, closed all cases due to "cannot contact complainant", which is so untrue. I have provided three phone numbers every time I leave my name. They did reopen the rim and the steering issue. Now the tires! what next?.

9 Tire problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 07/19/2009

In July 2008 we purchased a new chevy Cobalt ss from c. Weaver Chevrolet in yorkville, NY. We were having a problem with a noise in the rear and brought it in for service at 12,400 miles. We were told that it was in need of rear brakes and also that the front tires were in need of replacement. The front tires were removed in the winter for snow tires and have only been on the car for about 7,00 miles. It was our opinion that there were defects with the tires and brakes but the dealership, (carbone GMC,pontiac, Buick), in yorkville, NY refused to perform the repairs under warranty citing drivers use as the reason for the wear on the brakes and tires.

10 Tire problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 06/28/2009

The contact leased a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. The vehicle has continental touringcontact as tires, size 195/60/r15 (na). While driving between 55-60 mph, the contact heard a loud noise outside of the vehicle. She immediately pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. She observed that the front driver's side tire lost an excessive amount of pressure. Roadside assistance was called to the scene and they replaced the tire with a spare. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the front driver's side tire exhibited severe tread separation. The tire was replaced with a new one. The failure mileage was 31,322 and current mileage was 32,300.

11 Tire problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 11/14/2008

On November 13th I felt something wrong when driving home. I stopped at sam's club and asked them to check the tire pressure. They stated it was at 40-42. The attendant let the air out to 29. He said the tires looked ok and suggested have the alignment checking. While on the freeway home, the tread separated from the tire. I thought I had hit something, pulled over and kicked each tire for damage (it was dark). There was air in all tires so I decided to go the last 5 miles home. Immediately driving a few feet I realized something was wrong. I called a tow and the operator said the tread separated. We had the car dropped off at garrett motors. The next morning we told them what happened. Later they called saying it would not be covered because the tire was underinflated and that was why it became separated. We told them we had proof that the tire pressure was at the correct level 20 minutes before, and that the tire felt it had air (garrett claimed it was 10psi-visual observation did not show that small amount of air). Garrett refused to honor the warranty citing it was operator error. They also said that all other tires needed replacement. Garrett refused to replace any of the tires or fix the body damage to the car due to the tire tread hitting the side of the vehicle.
